Advice for beginners watching this video: There are two kinds of Subnautica players. Those who pay attention to the PDA and read the database entries early, and those who flounder for quite some time and often don't know what to do until they finally consult the database. The entries contain a significant amount of gameplay advice not presented in any other format.
@@Raddy2Framez My comment was meant as a hint for beginners. You are already several episodes in, so by now you likely have figured out the most important game mechanics. One can play without reading the database entries, but it is harder to figure certain things out. Given that Subnautica can feel overwhelming at first, I like to remind newbies of what the friendly PDA voice told them right off the bat: It is the PDA's job to keep the protagonist alive, and it contains detailed survival advice. As AI goes, this one is actually helpful.
I've played through this game a couple times now and I'm so envious of the people who get to experience this for the first time and blind, it's such a deep and great game
I love watching Subnautica blind playthroughs. Every first episode I look for one thing, based on my own experiences, and every time I see it; GATHER ALL THE ACID MUSHROOMS. They're everywhere, they're abundant, and everyone, including me the first time through, takes So Many!
Right, why do everyone do that??? I'm genuinely curious. I didn't do it, because as you said, they were clearly abundant so if I needed them, they'd be right nearby. Why do people fill up their limited inventories with something that's right outside their front door? xP
- Well, this is a First; I have never seen any person doing a Lets Play for Subnautica before who did not watch the Aurora Explosion, and that was unfortunate, it is visually amazing, and you only get to see it once, so I was sad you missed out, it is quite an enjoyable first time experience. You hid under the water, which is I suppose logically reasonable, lol, but still I always enjoy watching new players see it for the first time.
I've seen several "miss it" because they played it after the update, that bugged the explosion if you save after the 2-hour PDA message (and it would be dumb to go that long without saving) :l It's so sad... Also, I think Jacksepticeye missed it by diving into the water as well.
Player: "I have no idea what to do" PDA: "I literally have a section called Survival Package, Start Here" I've watched a lot of Subnautica playthroughs, enjoyed them and I'm sure I'll like yours too.... but I find it funny of how players would avoid reading the pda like the plague...😂😂😂
As others have said, I’m jealous of everybody that gets to learn this for the first time I have still yet to leave the planet, but I’ve probably done 90% of the stuff in the game. I’m not gonna give any spoilers comments. You’ll probably get plenty. first video I’ve seen so I don’t know if you’ve posted more or not already either way enjoying watching you getting to experience it
There is storage right in the lifepod you swim faster empty handed just move your O2 tank frome "equipped slot" into inventory and don't create a new one while upgrading
@@garryuyahoo That was meant as an explanation for those people who have not been quite as attentive in their physics and biology classes. I am sure there are quite a few out there. 😉
2:35 Don't worry. Mouse & keyboard are FAR superior to controller when playing Subnautica. The lack in precision of controller is a big hindrance in a game like Subnautica, not to mention that the movement in tree dimensions is also a lot easier withMouse & keyboard. The first rule of Subnautica: Scan everything, read absolutely everything. The entire worldbuilding is done via the PDA entries.
You may end up being disappointed with me as I stick with controller for the foreseeable future. I like having the increase/decrease depth with triggers on a controller.
Really fun video. I look forward to more episodes. A couple things - you swim faster with your hands empty ( no scanner/flashlight etc.). Also you have a storage compartment inside your pod - you got water and nutrient blocks there at the beginning. To make the high capacity oxygen tank you just need to move the oxygen tank you have equipped into your inventory - no need to craft a new one.
Thank you! I eventually come to a couple of those realizations, though I didn't know about having faster swimming speed with empty hands! Thanks for the tip.
Since no one said it in this video I'll tell you. You didn't need to make another O2 tank just move the one you had into your inventory slot. Edit: you can still continue to scan even with a full inventory.
Fun Fact: The slow death and blacking out before dying is actually a bug. You were supposed to die when the timer ran out, but people liked the fade away so much that they kept it in the game. (Its 8 seconds to death after the timer runs out fyi)
Personally a fan of controllers myself, but Subnautica is one of those games I think the controls feel far more convoluted on a controller. Definitely a KBM game. Worked really great with my MMO mouse so all the buttons on the bottom are accessed on the side my mouse.
I see benefits for each. Someone mentioned keyboard and mouse being better for switching items. I've been in several situations when I need another item QUICK, and the controller just doesn't allow the quickness a keyboard does.
25:00 Talking about how games do oxygen running out. The way this game does it is actually a bug turned feature. It was supposed to be instant death with a screen fade-out, but the bug made the death happen *after* the fade-out. Devs decided it working like that was better than as intended, so they kept it
@@Raddy2Framez When seeing something that looks dangerous, there are 2 types of gamers. The first will think "That looks damaging, I should stay away from it." I never understand why new players always grab 5 dozen acid mushrooms when they start. Especially when they see the recipee (and ONLY recipee) that uses acid mushrooms only require two of them?
To be fair, they’re EVERYWHERE, and the game literally tells the player “pick up acid mushroom” whenever they look at one, it’s understandable. The game is overwhelming for new players, it takes a while to understand you only need them to make batteries.
Yeah i only did it once back in the way in older builds. In those times you could enter the aurora by the back. That was the pinnacle. More or less. I think it s a good way to detect people with mushroom consumption culture. The more enthusiastic the more indicative
@@Raddy2Framez Subnautica was immersive to me in either mode.
