Lyrics written by Sir Tim Rice and of course the music is composed by the great Andrew Lloyd Webber. Arrangement by David Hirschfelder, a long term member of John's band. Sir Tim Rice was in the audience this night. He gets his own mention and applause at the end of the show. It would be nice to think that John did him proud here 😄

We all have our personal religious beliefs, and we should just keep them personal and not try to enforce them others, especially when it comes to making laws regarding women’s rights. I’m certainly with you there. That being said, this performance by John is absolutely mind blowing, showing another dimension of John’s amazing talent. I was at this phenomenal show. It was done in the round, more like a concert than the original. It’s worth taking a look at some of the other performances, including Jon Stevens and Kate Ceberano.

What an amazing performance. I have never seen the stage production, but I have owned the soundtrack of the original cast for close to half a century, and it’s an incredible interpretation of the real story itself. This young man is truly exceptional. You know that many believe he wanders the entire earth during the years of his life you don’t hear about in the Bible. Obviously back then, there were no worldwide news reports, and the writers of the Bible only knew about what he did locally; what they witnessed, and through word of mouth from around the holy land. Obviously the Mormons, and John Smith believe he was in North America. I’ve also looked at Native American history and beliefs, and much of their teachings are strikingly similar to Christianity. Believe me Ron, I have had my doubts about things too, like you, I’m not a lemming, but I remain open. I appreciate your honesty and candidness.

I can imagine the live audience there being mesmerized by this performance. It was fantastic. I'm open but require a lot more evidence than what has been provided (aka - none) before I'll ever enter into any of those beliefs again. The "book" is so filled with obvious fabrications, contradictions, and a horror show of behaviour, it makes me shudder to think that the new speaker of the house of representatives states that he uses it as his moral guide - yikes! 🙂

@@jeffwilson7100 Beautiful performance. So effortless, to the point that I compared it to Andrea Bocelli. He’s just about popping blood vessels and his jaw is so tense, I thought he must be in a higher key! No. John actually sings it a tone higher than Bocelli, no strain or tension.

Passionate performance indeed! I once knew it from the blieble Story of Jesus called the Passion of Christ. John's ability to convey the barely controlled anger and terror in equal parts of a man on death row gives me chills every time.

Atheist here also mate. I stopped believing in fairy tales around age 4, living in far north Western Australia back in the 60s n 70s - too hot and busy to be believing in a man up on the clouds, and plus I'm not giving up eating prawns/shrimp for anyone, period 🤣🤣

Lol - I agree with you there - prawns & shrimp are great. I've had issues with the stories since I was very young but every now and again tried to understand why people kept being drawn in. I finally gave up many decades ago. I don't have any issue as long as people leave others alone and don't try dictating their lifestyles when it harms nobody. Greetings from less hot but still busy, Ontario, Canada. 🙂

@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh As someone raised Catholic but who no longer follows religion I think a lot of it has to do with just being taught it at a young age and then never really questioning it or knowing different. Going to church is also like a family ritual, and I guess a lot of people just like the idea of the promised/perceived rewards (heaven, feeling more moral, community, having something/someone to carry your burdens)...then there's fear of consequences for not practicing (being perceived as/feeling less moral, hell, being outcast etc). I guess you could sum it all up into 1 word... brainwashing. For quite a while I felt less moral than my friends who still attended church. It took me getting into Tim Minchin to realise that following religion is not what makes you moral. Religion is an attempt to teach morality, but it's also flawed. That's not to say that everything about it is bad either, though the good parts (like community) can also be found elsewhere.

Well, and this is only my opinion, I really didn't like this version at all. Ted Neeleys version was better for me. But the best I've ever heard was Dan Vasc. I was lucky enough to see the live rock opera in Manchester, UK, earlier this year and it was excellent! Don't shout at me, it's just my personal taste! Thank you for your reaction to this.

“Bad notes” in live performances are what give them a human touch and rarely make for “bad performances”. I’ve worked with John’s voice quite a lot as most here know and he’s often a semi tone or more out once I bring him up on pitch correction software but I’ve been careful to never correct his pitch as it’s those little twerks that make a performance human. As John hasn’t had a lot of formal coaching and isn’t a trained classical singer such pitch variation is expected and is commonly seen in emotive and rock live performances, less so in musical theatre.

I have read it with an open mind, but it delivered a horror show. Having an open mind does not mean that you believe without evidence or logic or consistency.
