Even after watching this 100 times....I still get goosebumps everytime listening to this. John is just superb.
I couldn't agree with you more on religion. Australians are not the most religious nation.
I can see and hear why! It's incredible. 🙂
Without a doubt one of the worlds best singers ever
I can't argue that one, John. 🙂
Showcases John's talent. Very moving. So many emotions happening whilst listening to John's interpretation
I agree! 🙂 John's incredible.
How he emotes is superb. ❤
It is! 🙂
A fairly hard atheist here too but I love this performance and your comments, which touched on very human reactions, were just so good.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. 🙂
I love the 3 sighs at the end
🙂 John is fantastic.
I enjoyed your reaction, thank you, -as for Christmas songs - John did a Christmas album with Olivia Newton-John a few years ago,
Thank you! 🙂
Wow great commentary! Thank you.
My pleasure! Thank you for commenting. 🙂
Lyrics written by Sir Tim Rice and of course the music is composed by the great Andrew Lloyd Webber. Arrangement by David Hirschfelder, a long term member of John's band. Sir Tim Rice was in the audience this night. He gets his own mention and applause at the end of the show. It would be nice to think that John did him proud here 😄
Fairly certain that John did him proud, for sure. Thank you for commenting and adding info. 🙂
Great reaction and commentary John has done a couple of carols by candlelight Christmas songs well worth a look
Thank you so much! I appreciate it. 🙂
We all have our personal religious beliefs, and we should just keep them personal and not try to enforce them others, especially when it comes to making laws regarding women’s rights. I’m certainly with you there. That being said, this performance by John is absolutely mind blowing, showing another dimension of John’s amazing talent. I was at this phenomenal show. It was done in the round, more like a concert than the original. It’s worth taking a look at some of the other performances, including Jon Stevens and Kate Ceberano.
🙂
What an amazing performance. I have never seen the stage production, but I have owned the soundtrack of the original cast for close to half a century, and it’s an incredible interpretation of the real story itself. This young man is truly exceptional. You know that many believe he wanders the entire earth during the years of his life you don’t hear about in the Bible. Obviously back then, there were no worldwide news reports, and the writers of the Bible only knew about what he did locally; what they witnessed, and through word of mouth from around the holy land. Obviously the Mormons, and John Smith believe he was in North America. I’ve also looked at Native American history and beliefs, and much of their teachings are strikingly similar to Christianity. Believe me Ron, I have had my doubts about things too, like you, I’m not a lemming, but I remain open. I appreciate your honesty and candidness.
I can imagine the live audience there being mesmerized by this performance. It was fantastic. I'm open but require a lot more evidence than what has been provided (aka - none) before I'll ever enter into any of those beliefs again. The "book" is so filled with obvious fabrications, contradictions, and a horror show of behaviour, it makes me shudder to think that the new speaker of the house of representatives states that he uses it as his moral guide - yikes! 🙂
I saw this concert in Sydney....
It must have been amazing. 🙂
He argued and discussed in the temple with the scribes and pharisees when He was 12. " He grew in wisdom and favour before God and man"
It is an entertaining fictional story, that's for sure. 🙂
It is truth@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh
Mary’s Boy Child from Carols by Candlelight probably in the early 90s. Everyone will complain about audio visual but it’s still brilliant (speaking as a classically trained musician!).
You’ll Never Walk Alone in that clip is where he really soars
@@jeffwilson7100 Beautiful performance. So effortless, to the point that I compared it to Andrea Bocelli. He’s just about popping blood vessels and his jaw is so tense, I thought he must be in a higher key! No. John actually sings it a tone higher than Bocelli, no strain or tension.
🙂
Jimmy Barnes has quite a few Chrissy songs. He only released the album last Xmas. Its top notch
Thank you! 🙂
Especially that acapella version of O Holy Night wow!! I worked hard on that one but it was so worth it. He goes so high it’s insane
@@Dr_KAP I fully agree on that. There's quite a few on that album that I love. I'm not normally a Chrissy carols person, but Barnseys a different kettle of fish
Passionate performance indeed! I once knew it from the blieble Story of Jesus called the Passion of Christ. John's ability to convey the barely controlled anger and terror in equal parts of a man on death row gives me chills every time.
🙂
Atheist here also mate. I stopped believing in fairy tales around age 4, living in far north Western Australia back in the 60s n 70s - too hot and busy to be believing in a man up on the clouds, and plus I'm not giving up eating prawns/shrimp for anyone, period 🤣🤣
Lol - I agree with you there - prawns & shrimp are great. I've had issues with the stories since I was very young but every now and again tried to understand why people kept being drawn in. I finally gave up many decades ago. I don't have any issue as long as people leave others alone and don't try dictating their lifestyles when it harms nobody. Greetings from less hot but still busy, Ontario, Canada. 🙂

I 100% agree there. I too am totally fine with what ever religions or spiritual beliefs people want to, as long as they keep it to themselves and don't push it on me or others.
Being Atheist is becoming more common these days, especially here in Aus
@@roslynjonsson2383 Canada is fairly secular in general, but there are pockets. It's the U.S. I'm most concerned about at the moment. 🙂
@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh I think that's a worldwide concern.
@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh As someone raised Catholic but who no longer follows religion I think a lot of it has to do with just being taught it at a young age and then never really questioning it or knowing different. Going to church is also like a family ritual, and I guess a lot of people just like the idea of the promised/perceived rewards (heaven, feeling more moral, community, having something/someone to carry your burdens)...then there's fear of consequences for not practicing (being perceived as/feeling less moral, hell, being outcast etc). I guess you could sum it all up into 1 word... brainwashing. For quite a while I felt less moral than my friends who still attended church. It took me getting into Tim Minchin to realise that following religion is not what makes you moral. Religion is an attempt to teach morality, but it's also flawed. That's not to say that everything about it is bad either, though the good parts (like community) can also be found elsewhere.
You can feel his frustration at god
Yes! Thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂
Well, and this is only my opinion, I really didn't like this version at all. Ted Neeleys version was better for me. But the best I've ever heard was Dan Vasc. I was lucky enough to see the live rock opera in Manchester, UK, earlier this year and it was excellent! Don't shout at me, it's just my personal taste! Thank you for your reaction to this.
Hi Pamela! (I rarely shout - lol.) Everyone has different taste. You were very lucky to have heard Dan Vasc's version live - that's awesome. I did a reaction to his video for this as well. Have a great day. 🙂
The interpretation is not the writer's, talented as Tim Rice is. The Bible tells this story, generally called the agony in the garden (named Gethsemane.)
There is often a little truth in all stories. 🙂
I’m with you mate, atheist. Love farnsey though. I enjoyed this
It was an awesome performance, no doubt. 🙂
I'm sure considering he's human that at some point in his life Farnham has sung a bad note... but I have never heard one.
Yes, I'm sure he has, but I doubt anyone would be too concerned given his awesome talent. Thank you for commenting. 🙂
“Bad notes” in live performances are what give them a human touch and rarely make for “bad performances”. I’ve worked with John’s voice quite a lot as most here know and he’s often a semi tone or more out once I bring him up on pitch correction software but I’ve been careful to never correct his pitch as it’s those little twerks that make a performance human. As John hasn’t had a lot of formal coaching and isn’t a trained classical singer such pitch variation is expected and is commonly seen in emotive and rock live performances, less so in musical theatre.
Is your reaction to John’s performance or a stage to voice your non belief. I personally don’t believe in God but it’s about reacting to the artist’s performance.
For me it is about the performance and the lyrics. In almost all of my videos I discuss the lyrics. And, yes, this channel is my stage - or one of them - lol. 🙂
That's the whole point. Having faith and hope. I won't be subscribing to your channel. Your opinions are yours not everyone's. You actually need to read the bible again with an open mind.
I have read it with an open mind, but it delivered a horror show. Having an open mind does not mean that you believe without evidence or logic or consistency. Of course, my opinions are mine - that's why they are called my opinions - lol. I was actually very diplomatic in my comments. I'm sorry they were too harsh for you. 🙂Merry Christmas! Happy 2024!
