@@tqrules01 I’ve only tested this one 5080, so I’m afraid I can’t speak to how typical it is. This comment under the Hardware Unboxed review of the 5080 says everything you need to know about this card. (Not my comment): 3070 - 65% of the 3090 performance, 50% of the 3090 specs, 33% of the 3090 price - $500 5080 - 65% of the 5090 performance, 50% of the 5090 specs, 50% of the 5090 price - $1000 This is $670 (33% of the 5090 price) 5070 inside a $1k 5080 box and that's why it isn't even faster than the previous xx90. This is a daytime robbery. This is a scam.
I did some crunching of numbers based on Time Spy Extreme median graphics scores and MSRPs of various nVidia cards and found that the 5080 only offered 27% better price/performance in over 4 years compared to the 3080. The 3080 gave 72% better price performance over the 2080 alone , and 121% over the 1080. Stagnation is definitely a thing (as well as inflation which these numbers don't account for)
Looks like you have to OC these gpu’s for them to make any sense. Techpowerup has collected a bunch of overclock samples with several AIB models and the FE model, and on average (after an OC) they’re 25% faster than a stock 4080 super, and 20% faster than an overclocked 4080 super. This brings an OC’d 5080 right in line with a stock 4090. Still not great performance generationally, but it’s odd that the overclocking headroom is equal to, or better than the performance uplift over the 4080 super at stock.

Iceberg tech looking at brand new 1000$ GPUs? How the times have changed
The face I'm making when I'm seeing a NV xy80-class card gaining only 10fps in a sub 100fps raster game
O.O or 😧
Beast of a looking card. Typical Nvidia cutting it down so much compared to the RTX 5090.
Today's games in tomorrow's hardware😂 congrats on the 5080 launch day sponsor iceberg, seems like it might be shorter than the original 10 years later for the 4090d review you told me
Ah yes, a 4080 Ti. 🤡
I'm happy with my 4080 Super.
Thanks for the quality content Ice, as usual.
We already bashed 5080 FE s for underwhelming performance. now imagine the ROG card price lmao
