Damn sorry I missed this one tonight. When I stayed in Japan in 2010, the hotel I booked for two weeks straight was basically right around the corner from Ginza. I just don't remember the name of it. Wasn't much to it; just a cheap hotel that was centrally located the train station. I do remember a 7-11 near or at the base of it if that helps.
In places like Tokyo or well any properly built city, better to get a cheap hotel. You do not worry about the accommodations, the city is the accommodations, and who wants to be sitting in their hotel when they are right around the corner from Ginza. I got cheap hotel (condo hotel so it was actually quite nice) through air bnb on a stay in Toronto that was about a block from Yonge-Dundas square. That hotel was actually the last place I wanted to be in downtown Toronto.
