Thank you for sharing! Wizzair fly to Baku for 40-60EUR from Budapest. It depends on the date and if you book the ticket in advance just like any other low cost airlines.
@@user-xs8vr5yr4z Thanx for watching. Yeah, I‘ve know that Wizz Air has pretty good hubs in Vienna & Budapest with interesting connections, but for us it did not make sense, because getting to Budapest (by car, plane, train) would have been more expensive than the LOT flight.
I came across a video about my hometown Baku on your page, and I really liked it! The quality of the video was fantastic. Thank you for sharing such wonderful content and for your kind words. Azerbaijan is a very hospitable country, and we are always happy to welcome visitors to our beloved city of Baku!
The worst part about traveling to Azerbaijan is how ridiculously expensive the flight tickets are. It’s literally on the edge of Eastern Europe, but tickets are still pricey imo. This really affects tourism. And let’s not forget the land borders have been closed since COVID, so you can’t travel by car or bus from neighboring countries. If you're visiting and want good food, I’d suggest skipping the malls and fancy restaurants in touristy areas. I recommend you to look for traditional, local spots. It's much tastier and cheaper there. Also, just a heads-up: Azerbaijan was never part of the Ottoman Empire and wasn’t influenced by it either. But most Azerbaijanis and Turkish people do share common roots from the Seljuk Empire. Historically today's Azerbaijan was part of empires like the Atabegs, Qara Qoyunlu, Ağ Qoyunlu, Safavids, Qajars, Russian Tsar, and finally the USSR. Thanks for visiting! I hope you had a great time. If you're into nature, definitely check out the regions outside Baku. The city and nearby areas are more like a desert, so it can give off Dubai/Qatar vibes.
I guess we just scratched the surface with a short trip to a capital city of a country, as it is always the case, when you only have a few days. But for what I have experienced, I can absolutely recommend it. Regarding that one phrase about the old town: I recored the german version of this vlog right before the english one, the literal translation of what I said in german would have been „Ottoman-style“ or „Ottoman-influenced“ city, what might also be incorrect historically, but at the moment of recording, it somehow made sense to me from the looks of it, as someone who has seen many old towns from Turkey and the Balkan region. But yes, this is an incorrect description... however I am not able to edit the video, now that it is already uploaded, I could only cut out the phrase, but that would sound & look crappy, so I will leave it in there & hope, that it will not offend too many people 😅
@@schornography No worries at all! The Ottoman Empire is part of the history of our brother country, Turkey, and I don’t think any Azerbaijanis would be offended by that. Just wanted to give some friendly feedback ☺ Also, if you’re looking for cheaper spots, beer prices are usually around 1-2 euros in non-touristy areas. Of course, a short trip would only give you a glimpse of Baku, but there’s always more to explore. Good luck, great video, and thanks for promoting our country 😄
I was about to write the same. Azerbaijan has never been part of the Ottomans. But our languages are pretty close and included in the same language family.
Baku has never been part of the Ottoman Empire, The Old City was built in the 12th century by Shirvanshah and later expanded by the Russian Empire after 1806. Please research before posting a video
