    The audition is interesting. It would make sense if all of the people invited are ai versions of their real life famous counterparts. It is a a Turing test in a way. I think most of these people have “disappeared” like we don’t know what happened to bill after the basement scene, he then turned into an artist? Lee went off the grid and so did Rohan. I think it will have a good twist and the message behind the show as a whole will be a great one to see

    Oh neat, thank you for including my comment in here, hadn't expected that, especially as they tend to be rambly.
    Glad I remembered to check this channel after seeing episode 3, I missed out on this video (I see the episode 3 video's also been uploaded, I'll get to that after I watch and react to this one). I don't think you should apologize if this series/its mystery ends up being a "lemon" - I think there's some value in looking at mysteries (and mystery stories) that fall on their face, as you can appreciate those that are better crafted but also learn to detect tropes or poor writing or attempts to subvert them that either work or don't work and why. That can help with solving other mysteries, knowing how some things could play out or would play out under certain writers, etc. I do hope this'll be good (I think the direction was best in the premiere, but the subsequent episodes haven't been bad, and they've definitely helped build up the mystery rather than just our main character and victim, like the premiere did).
    I think one of the most unusual things for me in this episode is how it establishes Bill/Fangs as a coder/hacker - maybe I missed a detail in the first episode, but I'd had the impression that he was not, especially when Darby explains her device/hack to open the garage door, as he seemingly did not know about Lee and didn't seem to know much about hacking when she discussed it. As I said, maybe I missed something in that premiere, but it seemed like a big shift for the character (episode 3 seems to further confirm he has hacking skills, so maybe it was always intended and I just missed something in the premiere).
    The mask is weird, and it does look like there are 2 of them - I do think that is something we'll get confirmed later, with the first (white) masked person a red herring until we discovered the more reflective mask on someone else later.
    Not sure I've any better idea who did what after episode 2, but I do have some feelings after episode 3 (it's going to seem weird that I'm posting this probably seconds before I post my reply to the next vid, but that's because I tend to type these up while listening at work, then post when I get home and log in).

    Warning for spoilers to other movies that are not A Murder at the End of the World;
    Movies that A Murder at the End of the World reminds me very much of are "Identity", "The Sixth Sense", "The Shining" and "2001 Space Odyssey".
    All the red colors reminded me of how it was used in The Sixth Sense as a way of giving the viewers a major clue as to what was actually happening. It was a way to say that there was something wrong with this picture.
    The Shining because of the painting in the dinning room that says "Redsky" sort of reminded me of the word Redrum. Plus the trailer to upcoming episodes show Zoomer the child on a tricycle riding in the hotel on the red carpet. I was almost expecting him to come across twins standing in front of an elevator full of blood.
    Ray, the AI assistant and the lit red circles that are part of the hotel rooms door locks made me think of HAL, the deadly AI computer in 2001 Space Odyssey.
    But the movie that this show reminded me the most of was Identity. You would think it would be Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" (even though Identity was heavily inspired by that novel). But because of all the hotel room numbers and a single child with a parent being part of the mystery I couldn't stop thinking about that particular film. I even got excited when I saw that Zoomer was staying in room 6 just like the child in Identity.
    Though it's still far too early to know for sure but all of this is making me wonder if everything that Darby is experiencing in Iceland is partly in her head like in the movie Shutter Island. So my questions are is Darby actually in Iceland or in a mental ficility and is imagining other patients as something they are not? Did Bill actually get murdered in Iceland or at the house where they found the first victim of the Silver Earing Killer? Your theory about Zoomer made me think twice about who is playing HAL. Ray or Zoomer if Darby is really in Iceland? If it is Zoomer then it fits nicely with the movie Identity as well.
    I do believe Darby's back story and that she really did find the first victim in that house. But perhaps that experience broke her, especially if Bill died that night. Maybe this trip is far more than a retreat than we are visually lead to believe. The removal of devices, pills being offered often, and even some of the outfits the guests are dressed in. They almost feel like lounge wear and pajamas.
    Of course, I could be dead wrong and am reading far too much into it all especially being that there only has been two episodes so far. But I am intrigued enough to look forward to seeing how it will all play out.
    So glad you are covering A Murder at the End of the World. Looking forward to hearing your take on it as well.

      Love this take. She might actually be in a hospital for a “retreat”

    Darby represents Gen Z’s over reliance on technology and too trusting of it. She openingly invites AI Ray into her apartment (something older generations wouldn’t do). She will also be the most easily manipulated through technology and AI. (In the digital world, what is real and what is fake). She might need to pull out of the digital world and solve this crime through old fashion detective work in the physical world.

    Only just now finished with episode 2, and I don't know when I'll be able to continue, but one line from this episode that stuck out for me was in one of the flashbacks Bill tells Darby she's unhackable, and that a man could die trying.
    What if all of this is being designed to figure out how Darby's mind works? Could that perhaps be connected to the theory that Zoomer is a robot? After all, Darby is called "Gen Z Sherlock Holmes" and people from Gen Z are called Zoomers.

    Okay, so I'm just watching your earlier videos, and I have to ask something. I swore when I watched the first episode I watched The Silver Doe killer shot himself but when I rewatched it I didn't see that. Did it actually happen? Did anyone else see it? Could it have been an alternative version I watched the first time? Or maybe I just planted the memory of it in my head.

    • @DoublePMedia
      @DoublePMedia  10 месяцев назад +1

      It was incepted in your mind. I think the implication is the killer shot himself, but the show never shows it. And follows it up with a scene in the hotel room of Darby walking to the tub, seeing it is empty. and then walking to the tub and seeing Bill in it.

    Zoomer is 5 years old and 9 months, Bill left Darby 6 years ago. This means Bill knew Lee before meeting Darby or during his relationship with her. His story about the psychic and him pretending not knowing Lee in episode 1 could also be a clue to solve the case, right?

Such as silver doe killer, living a trail, we can trace a chronology of how Bill met or might met each of the guests. I think that the falashbacks tell us probably how to solve the present murders. two serial killers but probably Bill and Rohan knew Darby could solve the secret of the new serial killer. but I think whoever this new serial killer, he's a new way to look at serial killers,not the traditional way we find in previous genre ...

    If we're already 2/7ths of the way through this show, the suspects being really thinly sketched is starting to be a problem. There is zero reason to suspect anyone outside of the Ronson family at this point. Anyway, I hope this isn't the direction the show is going, but I can't get it out of my head that Lee is actually an android and this is the reason why she needs an oxygen tank. She doesn't breathe, so she needs some other way for herself to have visible breath in the cold weather.

      Long reply: Darby is from Iowa. The cops in Darby's flashback were talking negatively about the coach of the nearest NFL (American football) team: Mike Zimmer who was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Mike Zimmer had a very long successful career coaching defense. When he became head coach in Minnesota, he had some success but was fired.
