Had mixed feelings first time listening through the album.
Felt like some of the songs were too "poppy" and clean cut from the usually style we've come to expect from him.
So I played it back from the start a second time to see if I was buggin, and BOY!

@@bcdixon maybe that was the wrong word... but it's def more of a typically mainstream sounding album, which I'm sure wasn't by accident, but he managed to pull it off without comprising his house sound too much, theres still a lot of soul and grit layered all throughout it, which I wasn't really picking up on the first listen through.
It just threw me for a loop, I was expecting a full on Bandana or Alfredo sounding album so when I heard the beat come in for the into song I coulda sworn Camron was about to come in lol didn't sound like the Gibbs i was expecting at all... but it grew on me and it's one of my fav's on the whole album now.
Benny and Conway did the same by putting out more mainstream sounding albums but they weren't able to pull it off without comprising their house sound nearly as well as Gibbs.
Left a bad taste in my mouth and haven't heard any of their newer music since tbh...

Man I don't know how bootleg Kev is sitting up here and saying that this year has been subpar as far as music goes because if you have at least 12 classic albums come out in the 12-month span of the year, that is a great year for music. And it's funny how even Freddie Gibbs says he just got Rick Ross on the album to have the Maybach music tag, which is one of the best tags of all time. I always like to see how it's implemented on the beat.
