Kinda funny that the least boring looking Tesla (We're not including the Cybertruck) is the original Roadster. And even then, it's just an electric Lotus Elise.
The first vehicle manufacturer to produce a "throwback" line of vehicles would quickly rise to be the most popular. For example; a 1989 Dodge W250, but redoing some things that might make it more enjoyable. Such as better AC, maybe more powerful or fuel efficient engine options.

I really hope the people over at Mercedes look at how beautiful both exteriors and interiors of their 80s and 90s car were and lock in cause wtf have they been doing for the past few years ? From a technical standpoint they'll never be as good as they used to be, but I'd take at least that over whatever they're doing now... Just look at the W124, W126, W140, W201, all of these share many similarities but two very important common things, to this day they are all considered the best Mercedes-Benz cars ever made and they were all designed by Bruno Sacco - a designer and engineer who is basically considered the Steve Jobs of car design, he was hired as a Mercedes-Benz stylist in 1958 and was the head of styling of Mercedes-Benz cars from 1975 to 1999, he was a huge part of Mercedes-Benz and understood the brand very well, in his own words "A Mercedes-Benz must always look like a Mercedes-Benz" and it's sad that with every year Mercedes strays away from this quote.
Hey I see this is for your personal project, I did mine last year. Nice to see a fellow video creator. As for the video, I have always loved the boxy designs and think this is a good trend
If cars are getting boxy again, then a lot of cars could come back that were discontinued since it’s not gonna be harder to design a completely new car
…I still drive a 1990 240 wagon around and absolutely love it. I don’t want an SUV but I inherited an older G55 from my folks and it’s a riot to buzz to Safeway around the corner and to take my horny goat to the vet since I’m an old queer from the Silicon Valley and the only time I get to use my 4 wheeling skills is when I back up from the steeply angled grassy patch out in my old horse ranch during winter.
I like boxy cars. Like flows is good, surely, I am a fan of 4th gen Camaro and Firebird, but bricks with wheels rock too. Like flows are good to show dynamic, they are sleek, fast, exciting. Bricks are good at reverse psychology, like you see it, and you think this thing will crumple the air on front of itself, this stuff must be really powerful.

As a person with an 850R I must admire that you mentioned it! On one hand it’s pretty practical but on the other it’s a blast to drive and I drove many cars with much more hp but almost none of them gave me the raw feeling of the 850R, except a 992 GT3 Touring. I had a CLA45 AMG and compared to the Volvo it’s boring af while also being much less practical
Oh damn you have one? Thats so cool haha. I reside in the middle east so Volvo's arent super common, let alone older models but man I'd love to drive an 850R
Not even realizes that literally the reason why we shift into boxy shape is because this is the literal reminiscence of how a cars used to be Nostalgia trade is starting to get get influence that's the reason the cars are starting to get back to their boxy shape because literally it reminds them of how cars actually used to like when muscle cars in different types of cars dominated instead of SUVs or crossovers
If Land Rovers destroy the current Discovery 5 design and bring back boxy design like the Discovery 3 or 4, It would sell like hot cake (And improve their reliability too).
People nowadays get bored very quickly. Therefore, car designs will quickly change from rounded to boxy to rounded again, and the pattern will continue to occur.
The Problem with saying that Boxy Cars are Safer is a common misconception. Yes, the driver and passengers are safer due to the bigger crumple zone in the back and front of the car. What we neglect is to take pedestrians into consideration. With such a high motor block and sharp edges, there is a higher fatality and injury rate with boxy cars. Tl:dR Boxy cars are not safer and harm everyone around the car more then sleeker cars.
I wanna see some proper boxy Volvo’s and audi’s again. (Aka the 80s-90s Volvos and Audi’s) To see a new boxy reimagining of the Audi Quattro with the RS3 engine would be a dream.
i love the boxy designs so much, i just hate that theyre mostly electric or hybrid... which is what it shouldnt be since electric car range is already terrible.
I did notice this design change, and besides the practical and visibility reasons mentioned, I believe the primary reason is actually the design itself. It seems to me that cars released after 2014 represent the pinnacle of automotive design-whether we're talking about the Mustang, BMW M4, M5, M8, RS5, RS6, RS7, Rolls Royce, Maybachs, Huracan, Aventador, Urus, Ferrari 458, 488, F8, 812, SF90, 911s, or all McLarens. In this vast sea of vehicles, there wasn't much left to improve to make them stand out significantly. In fact, the only car that still stood out was the G-Class because it didn't follow these rounded design rules. Perhaps automakers also noticed that even a 5-year-old G-Class, including the 350d model, still doesn't drop below $100k due to its unique presence and boxy design in a world of rounded, meticulously polished metals. btw, realy good video, keep going, humor and good copyrighting, hope you get big ass Fk, i hope to see a video in future roasting in the same manner your dream car you will recenlty buy it XDDD
4:23 Boxy suvs are good because they deform less during impacts aka it’s tougher so that’s a practical reason to sacrifice aero it’s for offroadability and is not related to crossovers getting really chunky for example.
boxy cars keep their passengers safe but endanger everyone else on the roads who aren't in boxy suv's due to differences in car collision mass and crumple zones not aligning. boxy cars also can see further since they are raised higher but thereby have a more difficult time seeing things close to the front, since their front blind spot is significantly larger than that of a sedan. being raised higher results in a higher center of gravity which makes suv's and boxy cars much more prone to rollovers.
Honestly my favorite “boxy” designed car so far has gotta be the new Toyota Land Cruiser. I love how they even have two different models that represent previous generations!
It’s gorgeous, but it’s absolutely not worth 60 thousand. Sure, it’s faster than a 5th gen 4Runner, but it rides firmer, has a harsher engine, has worse interior quality and less comfortable rear seating.
