True and we need to become self sufficient as a nation. The problem that is always at the forefront is that the exact same good (albeit many being fake or highly toxic from China but that's another argument) that cost $10 from China, India etc even with shipping fees will be $75 or more here due to the insane overreach of federal government bureaucracy, rules, regulations, etc. Similar to buying a sweater mass produced for $50 compared to a hand knit farmers market stall one for $350. Few can afford it in this economy.

And OSHA rules that all other industries follow don't apply here. My son did OTR for a few years. Those trucks need to have company supplied, built in dual fuel refrigerators, microwave, cassette toilets and sink with water. The truck stops have the crappiest fast food restaurants and mini markets have very little if any fresh food. When dock workers are on break the truckers have to park and wait running up their hours and missing out on the next run. OTR truckers need a base pay of $275 a day within 18 hour period.

How is he a criminal? The longshoremen have every right to sit their bodies down and not lift a finger until they get what they demand.
I mean, they could be fired I suppose... and now you're gonna have to deal with months of the process of hiring and trainging a completely new staff, one that will surely get things messed up.
Oh yeah, and then there's all the stuff that gets backed up in the meantime.
Have fun with that while you whine about people using their rights.

Same thing he did with the border bill the dems were going to pass he told the Republicans to vote it down so that he could run on immigration being horrible, trump doesn't care about the border anymore than it gives him something to run on otherwise he'd be in favor of any bill that helps the border situation.

Not sure what he is talking about when he said "Construction "materials won't be available? What a sink or light fixture from China? All of our construction material just like our bottled water and toilet paper doesn't come of any dock! It's all trucked on land all across the US.

Automation is coming to every job, no matter your pay scale. Cashiers at the dollar store are being replaced with self checkout. Working for less money is not going to save you from automation.

I’m so sick of this shit. I’m a longshoreman, I don’t make anything close to 81k. Cut that in fucking half, that’s what we make. I work at the docks in Philly. The union bosses pay distorts the view on all of this. Most of us are making 40-60k.

They don't care, they are being greedy. They want a 3/4 pay increase. When was the last time you got a 3/4 raise? Most people will never get that even with a promotion.
