LeConte's Winter Caretaker

JP Krol discusses what it is like living up on Mt Leconte during the winter season. This is his 5th winter on the mountain. He braves -20 degree temperatures, and heavy snowfall as he works to maintain the lodge during winter.

I hike up Mt. LeConte every year and I would love to have a job as winter caretaker! Sounds so relaxing :D

My son and I love hiking to the summit of the mountain. We usually go up a couple times per year utilizing different trails each time. I have always figured if I was the winter watchman I would finally write that book I always think about! One day...we are going to go up in the winter! Enjoy and stay warm. Invite a few of my friends, the "Mountain Boomers" in out of the cold to join you!

dang, how does one get into a job like that? I have many skills in different types of maintenance and crafting and I don't mind being by myself. lol
