And yet all they both drank during the show was coca cola because back then, they did not like the taste of coffee. So much for „it‘s so Lorelei“.

My bestie has hers in her bedroom and it's her alarm clock. It literally starts making coffee every morning at a certain time. And she adds cinnamon to the grounds. Smells delightful.

The perfect way to describe her. I just re-watched Parenthood and it was as incredible as it was the first time around and she brought so much to that role. I am stating Gilmore Girls next. I just realized every time I have typed Gilmore Girls autocorrect keeps changing the spelling. LOL I just love your description of her it is perfect. ❤

Totally! I first watched Gilmore girls when I was in college. I watched the whole show again (and then Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life) when my boys were pre-teens and they loved it. We just watched it again from beginning to end last year (they were 16 & 14) and we loved every second of it. It is definitely a bonding experience and so many things happen on the show that they can relate to, so I used those opportunities to talk to them about those situations (as teaching moments.) I definitely recommend watching the show with your kids, when you have them. Also, if you and/or your kids have ADHD, they will relate to Lorelai. She definitely has ADHD lol

I never saw the ending of the revival as a cliff hanger. I always saw it as the story coming to a full circle.
The fact Amy wanted those final words in the original series finale solidifies that theory, personally.

The fact that actors don't earn any residuals when old shows are on Netflix is CRAZY!!!! Like the actors of friends for exemple when it was still airing on tv gain coins every month as a residuals. Every new person that are watching Gilmore Girls or rewatch it. Netflix is making a lot of money but the actors or directors or writers NADA

She has a special place in my heart. I had my first baby, unplanned and with no village around because I was in the military. I used to watch Gilmore girls every time I was up to pump and do night time feeds because it made me feel like I was back home in New England (I’m from Vt but stars hollow is similar enough to my home town 😂), and made me feel a lot less alone being a mom figuring things out.

The "I didn't have a timeline" bit was so great for me to hear. I always feel like an outsider when I think about myself not having a timeline for marriage, or children, or even having those things be up for debate instead of a definite yes or no. Also, I am so much in the place of meeting my friends where they're at right now, being single and having many friends who are married or in long term relationships, or have small children. So nice to continue to find comfort and relatability in Lauren. Thank you!

Gilmore girls is one of the shows that taught me to speak and understand english on another level. I grew up in Sweden and I would hurry home from school to finish my home work to be able to watch Gilmore girls on TV:))
Now I'm 35 years old and I've lived all over the world, To this day it's my comfort show, I love to watch some episodes in the evenings from time to time when I want to unwind, the show is like a big hug. Writing this comment also made me realize how far I've come from learning english through tv series in my childhood bedroom to actually living & working in some of the biggest cities in the world. It's been a hustle, many ups and downs in life but my inner child is proud:))

11:54 - my dad LOVED this show. I was the same age as Rory's character, and when I left for university, he'd continue to watch it without me (maybe to get insight into my experience), and when i'd visit for holidays, he'd INSIST that we had watched certain episode already (i.e. together), when he had really just been watching them on his own. lol.

When GG aired originally, I was a widowed mom with a teenage daughter. We were actually like the Gilmore Girls. I know a lot of people say that, but I was a single mom raising a teenage daughter who was a bookworm and kept books in her dresser drawers. She went to college for English Lit and now she is a master librarian for an entire city.

I watched this show when it first aired way back in the day. I truly believe that seeing a single mother like Lorelei raised a generation of single independent moms. Like many of my peers I married young and had kids because that’s what we were supposed to do, but show like Gilmore Girls showed us that it was not to late to change that and to have identities of our own - where we loved and adored our kids but also had thriving careers and personal lives - and was given permission to do that outside the boundaries of traditional marriages.

I rememeber being in my early 20's when the Gilmore Girls came out. It definitely has a healing warmth to it and safe feeling. Watched it through 3 x now. I feel like its an escape from this world. Like who wouldn't want to live in Stars Hollow with rich parents that could bail you out if you really got desperate. All the warmth of the community really caring about each other. It's a vibe. Everyone wants to live there. We've become quite disconnected from community in the western world.

Alex would literally be me if I were ever in the presence of THE Lauren Graham herself. Oh my god, I can’t get over this interview! I’ve been a fan of Lauren for more than a decade at this point, and Gilmore Girls is my all-time favorite show. I’ve watched it countless times and truly consider myself one of the biggest fans. This was such a treat to watch, by the way! I now consider this Lauren’s best interview to date, as well as my personal favorite. It’s got everything, so thank you for getting her on your podcast and talking to her about more than what she’s known for the most. She’s always been an absolute delight, and I could listen to her talk forever simply because of how charismatic, articulate, and energetic she is, with a perfect balance of wit and charm. Despite all of her success, she remains wonderfully humble, which makes her even more captivating. I’ve always said she needs her own podcast someday, especially since we already got her narrating her very own audiobook (which, of course, feels like something Lorelai would do herself). She really is her character in real life, and I’ve always loved how perfect the casting was because even their initials (L.G.) are the same! It’s one of those written-in-the-stars, fate, or destiny things, which genuinely makes it all the more special, so it truly was like a dream come true for both her and us. I remember her saying once that this was the role of a lifetime, and if she ever were to get a role someday, she would want it to be something exactly like this. So, she basically did the damn thing, getting what she wanted early on in her career, which is a rarity, and I can’t stress enough how deserving she is of it 😭❤️

Oh, and I just remembered to say that I feel the exact same way about Alexis Bledel, who was not in this interview. But everything I said, it also applies to the lovely Alexis. (Not everything lol there are some different stuff because of the different stuff they did in their careers, of course, but still… Alexis and Lauren are among my favorite actresses/celebrities, whom I deeply adore and look up to! 🥰)

I really appreciate Lauren countering with “I don’t think it just affects women.” Although us women are 100% treated differently because we’re women, it doesn’t mean we should get into the toxic victim mentality. We have to look at situations from every angle. She handled those kind of questions with grace.

All the 2000's I loved watching the show, I was so invested. The "sad part" was that I never got the chance to discuss this show with anyone (I guess being a guy plus being in Mexico). As I was starting a relationship in 2016, I was very happy to watch the netflix season with this girl, it felt pretty cool.
Just this past September/October I watched the whole tv show with the same girl, which I call wife now and I can honestly tell you that I feel so blessed/happy to have someone as cool as her and the fact that she also likes Gilmore Girls is just a thing so perfect because I finally have someone to share this show plus with the coolest girl ever.
I love my girl and I love GG :)

I totally agree with you, Lorelei! Age is just a number. We are how we feel and how we think. The more I follow my heart, the less I hurt myself.

I still maintain that I want to live in Stars Hollow. It"s like a big hug with safe people and everything you need in one walk around. Would love to see another sequel explaining the relationship between Emily and her own mother, to clarify where the feelings of frustration come in between Emily and Lorelei.

I have watched Gilmore girls since I was a child. I have loved it for so long and she’s so right I loved it as a kid for different reasons and didn’t get jokes then but get them now as I’m older. I have rewatched it so many times and at LEAST watch it twice a year. It’s such a comfort show for me.

I was curious how many times I’ve rewatched GG so I downloaded my Netflix viewing history spreadsheet and did some analytics. I’ve had this Netflix account for like 3/4 years I wanna say. 157 times and I know it’s probably double that at least that prior to this account 😅. I clean to it, I sleep to it, it is my comfort show. Lorelei and Rory’s relationship reminds me so much of my own with my mother who had me as a teen and holds a special place in my heart. Loved this sit down and loved the way it was interview like at start and seamlessly flowed into some insightful conversation about being a woman and career, love, relationships, etc. ❤
