DETROIT EAST SIDE HOODS - Poletown East ABANDONED PACKARD PLANT Neighborhood Drive Through

- Driving tour of the Abandoned Packard Plant and neighborhood around it. We drive through parts of Poletown East, and Gratiot Town/Kettering to see how these areas are holding up after years of jobs and people moving away. Detroit was the hub of the automotive industry in the United States but as history tells it, this all started to unravel in the 1950's. Companies began moving abroad or closing down as the city's population reached it's peak. The Packard Automotive Plant is an excellent example or reference to this as it stopped production at this monstrous site in 1956 and by 1958 closed it's doors. The areas we drive through were at one time vibrant, densely populated and thriving communities. Asides from factories closing, many would argue the city's deathcross was the 1967 riots in which 43 people died, hundreds were injured, 2500 stores looted, and over 400 buildings burned. Whatever the causes are, this is the East Side of Detroit today in 2023.

Vote Democratic and you too can have a city as lovely as this one.
Ooops too late. The vote has been counted. YOU LOST.
It was all planned to happen. And we get to see and feel the boot on our neck forever.
Vote or not, outcome is same
and what did trump do to fix this when he was in for 4 years? oh thats right. absolutely nothing.
@@rat_king2801 He tried but the Dimorats in Detwat wouldn't let him. Nice troll though.
@@jamesinhamptonroads thanks. Trolling is life 😄. But lets be real, neither side can fix your country at this point and the people who choose the president arent the citizens. Its the corporate world.
This is just part of a transition. Folks that don't live here are in better spots across Michigan. Even right outside Detroit. It may be sad to see once flourishing neighborhoods and great cities, but while this era decays, there are other areas of Michigan sprouting with new modernized and revolutionary infrastructure. Peace to all.
Yeah, nevermind this blight it's all good outside out town!
@@jimdandy9671 sorry JIm . . . hopefully there will be some sort of innovation for the town and something big will come, maybe the likes of an auto-industry, but something like that happens once in a lifetime. Detroit will come back, just won't be like it was in the 40's and 50's, but not to say that it won't be a beautiful big city with it's next renaissance. It will be awesome.
It's sad to see some of these houses that people once took great pride in. Like the way trees were planted and once a beautiful paint job.
The sidewalks that folks walked to work on/ kids played their childhood games on. Safe, and secure in the knowledge that they were living the good life.
And then one day ...
You could buy a house in Detroit for $500.......but the city tax are $8000 ......and alot of restriction if you want to renovate....
Better to anhilate the floor plan and let the nature take over
Wow thanks for information. I’m sure many people would want to move there with those prices but high property taxes and lack of freedom is what most people are already running from. Thanks for sharing and thank you for watching!
Back to what it once was. Rolling fields and hills where the possibility of future success was right there for the taking.
And it was. For a while.
Now deer and foxes and raccoons will run the place. And a dam sight better than those who walk upright on two feet.
No matter the colour.
I have stood on the Canadian side of the river separating our two countries and think.
How differently things can go when you lust for power and money. Paper money at that.
The Center of Military Strength in WWII. To a shit hole. In less than 100 years it will all be erased. And the books that no one reads. Burned.
No need for that when you're about to rebuild it all as a Marxist State. The year 'ONE' is fast approaching. And you will not like it if your still alive that is. A culling of the sick herd is on the menu.
Solent Green in effect!
My property taxes are $1200/yr on a 1500sq ft house with a full acre lot. Where you getting your numbers from?
Imagine living in this area at night in a winter storm?
WhoYou Gona Call?
San Francisco will look like this soon with ton of people leaving.
I doubt it , California is still very over populated even with people leaving.
From what I have observed on the 'NET' that day has arrived and is on emergency life support right now. When the infrastructure goes ( fire police hospitals) it is finished.
No matter 'what colour of skin a governor or mayor has. The agenda is fixed and it will only decline further. Sad to see. Sad to be alive and see what we did to our forefathers' country. By mallace.
It doesn't take long for a city to become a 'Detroit'or any other Demon-Crat city in America.
May God have mercy on the American People. Because Communism/Marxism/ will show none. Just a giant culling of the herd and the sound of bulldozers tearing it all down anew. The reset will be permanent this time around. The governing military will carry the day.
It was all planned post-war in North America. Call it any kind of 'ism' you want. In the end, we lost the war.
Wow!! I wish there really was an effort from the city to restore all of these once beautiful heritage sites.
Who is going to pay for it? Where is the money going to come from?
Grassroots efforts to address this. Infrastructure initiatives n leaded that politicians seen unable and unwilling to address. Upward and onward....it's our only hope.
The people have a nice car but live in a house that is about to collapse. So where are your priorities? You better take better care of your home than your car. Watching videos about the US is depressing. You reap what you sow people.
You've never heard of $80,000 car parked in front of a house that's worth 20K? Obviously not from Detroit.
@@imaramblins No never heard It, not from the US fortunately.
When Jimmy Hoffa disappeared, so did everything else.
Looks like a great place to live....if you're a squatter 😊
Hilarious. Thanks for watching!
And there you have it ... the apocalypse !
Is this a documentary for a ghost town?
More or less. What Detroit is nowadays
You didnt run into Maddie and Jarryl? Consider yourself lucky.
That's not nice
@@cd6243 ha! It's the truth. If you consider my comment about a manipulative ungrateful woman, and an idiotic self confessed animal abuser who said he enjoyed torturing cats, "not nice" I suggest you enter the real world
very sad and disturbing as a foreshadowing omen of the later imminent decline that comes hit hard the last decennia of the modern-west and especially united-states!a testimony how fragile actually even civilised modern-society is!
So true. Couldn’t of said it better myself
Try some punctuation next time.
define civilized?
Not an easy task. If it can even be accomplished that is.
The good times are gone. Now we get to see and feel what 'hard times' are like. As our parents told us about.
We learned nothing. We were taught Fascism/Marxism in our education system.
What did you expect was to happen?
Just sayin'
Thank a Democrate for this , starting with bill clinton, remember nafta anyone?
