How to remove an E30 steering column easily

This is for later model cars. On early cars the steering shaft is different but the method of removal is the same

fml I was looking at my steering column for hours and didn't notice those bolts!

Looks like there are different variations.... mine has 4 of those unusable bolts and a different steering column despite being a late model

Ahá,possibly nearest to E36.
Today I have a problem,consulting my e36 manual,my steering rack conecting in one mode,but in my 318I is a diferent sistem or a invention.
Had that re-ubicated the ATF bottle in front a radiator,but ever when turn speedy,the sistem lost effectivity and start bad sounds.
Have revise profoundly.

Can the E30 steering column be replaced with a later model one?

I believe so, the sheet metal looks the same, you'd need to bring over all the linkage as well and cut the firewall if it doesn't line up
