Dorothy I am from NJ, I am 26 I am interested in buying a Victorian Style Mansion here in NJ and I have always loved these style of homes ever since I was younger. Probably because my Nonno was a carpenter.. What are common problems/issues that I should look out for and be prepared to run into? Is it more costly to fix/renovate?

Christain, You want to focus on the foundation, roof, and utility systems. All things are negotiable. When you have a government loan, there are more restrictions on condition of home. Some renovations are a historic home are good, and some are not. A historic home is generally not a home for someone to remodel without considering architectural charm and historic construction techniques. Think of it as a diamond that needs to be shined.
