- In my first overnight adventure as a low-time recreational pilot, I took 3 days to make a round trip to Longreach from the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia.
Including landing at Chinchilla (YCCA), Roma (YROM), Charleville (YBCV), Tambo (YTMB), Longreach (YLRE), Thangool/Biloela (YTNG) Caloundra (YCDR) and Heck Field (YHEC).
Wow great job! Looks like an awesome adventure. I'm doing my RPC at Heck Field through GCSFC. I've got 11 hours up now.
Awesome, I'm sure I'll see you out there soon.
Good stuff! Hope to see more videos. Minimal stuff out of SEQ on RUclips
Nice - thanks 😊
Awesomeness
Awesome video mate
Great video, gl with the instructor rating
Learnt something new about Qantas. Awesome Channel chief and you’ve
gained a subscriber 🤙🏽
Great video. Enjoyed every minute of it!!!🙌🙌🙌
Loved watching the video. You would've flown right past me at YMIT. Would love to see more videos on how you progressed in your training.
Thanks! Yep Mitchell was a waypoint. Looked like a great strip, and close to town.
Awesome video, looking forward to you posting more..
Great video and trip Adam 👍
Excellent video
Loved this.
Only one question if you don't mind.
You're flying solo in a light sport aircraft. How much an impediment would a passenger have imposed to this journey?
I'm assuming you're limited to a 600 kilograms weight limit.
What would have happened if you had another body to cart around with you?
I'm 95 kilograms. That makes me equal in weight to quite a bit of baggage and fuel.
Good question - I didn't do any legs longer than around 2 hours, so even with an adult passenger in the trip would still have been be easily doable for me.
I'm sure you know that RA-Aus about to increase the 600kg limit, which will open up a lot more range, especially in the Sling 2 which I believe will should be okay up to 700kg MTOW under the new category.
Cool video! I hold a PPLA and fly mainly out of YMUR, have you visited?
Gday! I haven't landed there yet, only overflown. Such a spectacular area to fly. I'll definitely keep an eye out if you guys put on a fly-in, we have family at Condong.
@@AdamSurplice Definitely come on down. The Murwillumbah Aero Club has a proud membership with a neat and tidy clubhouse with facilities for visitors, just call or email ahead.
Also YTYA worth a visit for a touch and go (beautiful approach/departure over the beach) and an orbit around BBAY is cool, especially this time of year with the whales.
I enjoyed that! Do you think the sling 2 is the best available light aircraft in Australia for OZ conditions and to travel around? I am thinking along the lines of cost for purchase and weight to speed ratio and so specifically cruise speed for cost per hour? Doing my studies and budget for eventual purchase.
Just wondering on this trip did you use avgas or mogas? Looking to do this trip myself in the near future
Both - I set off with full tanks of mogas, but topped up with avgas at Charleville and Barcaldine.
Nice one! Just to be pedantic, use the phrase 'one zero miles' rather than 'ten miles' on your inbound call. Instructors have to be perfect, right? 🙂. My Dad may have been one of the pilots on your flight in EBQ. I did the Sydney/LA/Honolulu flight with him once, sitting in the jump seat in the cockpit for every take-off and landing.
That's so awesome, it's mind blowing what those guys managed to do every day with analog gauges.
And thanks for the pickup on phraseology. Always learning.
