This is a F-16 from the Fresno ANG, the 144th FW and 194 fighter Sq. How do I know this? I served with this unit for 11 years and the tail is a dead give away. This unit is an air defense unit and this F-16 is doing a ID pass and after contact with the pilots and ID Confirmation he gives a "WAVE" by shaking his wings back and forth. Be thankful that these pilots are out there to besure that the aircraft in our airspace belong there!

Yeah, but the F-15 is no spring chicken, either. But I dig it. Just hearing those birds.
+MrDragonman36 um. No. I suggest that the 144th (which is in this video) no longer has F-16s. I think it's pretty accurate, seeing as how I see and hear Eagles several times per week coming out of there.

I am a pilot. I love to say F-16 MADE IN AMERICA. IN GOD WE TRUST. ONE NATION UNDER GOD. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT AMERICA. If you notice how the leading edge (front) of the wing at the fuselage, notice how the wing goes forward several feet. This helps the F-16 turn sharper.
I know this is old but to those who are saying he fucked up real bad and this is real bad, in most cases the rocking is to get you to acknowledge that you know he’s there and to reciprocate the rock that you are listening and are going to follow him ( in the event your radio is out). In this case the last rock was a “wave” and he dipped off to the left and disappeared. When they rock the wings and bail off to the left it is a goodbye “wave” and they always dip off to the left indicating you may continue your path because everything was cleared. As the update stated this was a family member that was saying hi in this case though.
Reminds me of a time when flying over the South China Sea in a C-130 on my way to Thailand. We were at cruise; the pilot was reading something, I was monitoring the systems (I was a Flight Engineer). At the same time, the pilot and I looked out the left window and saw an F-18 hanging off our left wingtip. When he saw us looking, he pushed down and disappeared below and behind us.

Interesting. A check of the FAA Registry Number "413LC" says it is not assigned and has never been assigned. Perhaps this plane was flying drugs and a check of the number turned up it was a bogus flight. "CIA" maybe?
+reggaerocket -- N413LC is a Cessna Citation registered out of Pasco, Washington. The photo in this video, of a Lear, is showing a bogus N-number. Here's the real N413LC: flightaware.com/photos/view/146425-e0db82a87799af45677a666d2d77d04c26380ff5/aircrafttype/C560
+Anthony Christiansen -- No, not even close. The plane shown at 5:34 in this video is a Lear 35; the actual N413LC is a Cessna 560. Look at the shape of the windshield on the Lear compared to the windshield plus pilot's windows on the Cessna. Also, the Lear has wing-tip tanks; the Cessna doesn't. The Cessna has 7 side windows, including one in the door; the Lear has 5 windows and the door is solid. The Lear has a t-tail (the horizontal stabilizer is near the top of the vertical stabilizer); the Cessna has its horizontal stabilizer low on the tail. Other than having twin engines and fixed wings, they really aren't much alike at all

Everyone's an expert! There will be those with a detailed knowledge of the protocols and their application in a range of circumstances. Those who can actually fly, or have specific domain related experience, and whose knowledge, although more limited is sufficient to make an informed speculation. Those who have flown in an aircraft but otherwise know jack shit. Those whose knowledge and world view is primarily derived from RUclips .......... And then there's the pilot involved who is clearly the only person that actually knows. beyond any doubt, the real who, what, when, where and why! Where did theism come into this ...... and why?
From what I remember from my early flight training (post 9/11), if one is intercepted by a military aircraft, and that military aircraft rocks their wings, the civilian PIC is supposed to follow instructions and land at the nearest viable airport. I can't find it in my regs book at the moment. If this 35 would have violated a carrier's safe distance, a navy aircraft would have intercepted, not a 16.
When a fighter is showing you his weapons like that, it means to follow him or their directions. The show of weapons is like saying, " You are being detained".
+Norbert Siewert the Lear pilot could've simply not have known the frequency they were using or possible equipment failure. They also could've simply been bad guys.
As a Tornado F3 interceptor pilot, the wing rocking is an acknowledgment of receivement of informatoin, this could signal that there is no radio communication from the Lear....
pilot had detoured from his flight plan and was on the edge of u .s . navy missile defense test. it's common that the Navy does this in the Pacific you can never enter this air space they're lucky to have gotten home, the music makes it seem fun trust me it wasn't!!!! the pilot payed a hefty fine.
Jet fuel is basically just Kerosene with other additives. I don't think that flight cost a lot of money. It is also interception practice for the aviator. The politicians pulling false flag and other propagates wars is what wastes the most money. Kuwait was stealing oil from Iraq, so Iraq invaded Kuwait to get their own oil back. Then the second war was based on WMD propaganda that destroyed Iraq as we know it. That's most of the waste, ammo, arms, tanks, missiles, and fallen jets, etc.
ok FYI here, i'm just being informative since most people are wondering. i'm a licensed pilot. yes the f16 was flying slow (nosed up). rocking wings means "you are intercepted." target aircraft should acknowledge by rocking wings too - he didn't. f16 moved on the pilot's side, rocked harder, no response. f16 did slow, level turn to the left for desired heading, meaning lear supposed to follow, he still didn't. there's actually more maneuvers specified on official intercept procedures.
I live in rural WV and remember hearing a single engine airplane fly over our home late one evening at a lower then normal altitude and then what looked like a fighter jet right behind it. Come find out apparently the pilot had passed away during flight and flew way of course during the flight only to run out of fuel and crash.
The F-2 is a production run of the F-16 Agile Falcon which the US never bought. It's a bit larger than an F-16 but basically looks the same. It has newer avionics built-in.
Very True! I have some experience in this field not as a pilot but as ground crew working alert. what would normally happen is he would cut the aircraft off flying fast and directly infront of the aircraft and possibly pop flares to get the pilots attention. They would follow, have him switch to militiary vhf and escort him to a designated landing place. If he did not comply well.. remember the F-16 has 2 AIM-9's, 2 AIM-120's and 515 rounds of how should we put it... INCENTIVE TO COMPLY! LOL
๖ۣۜCOFFEbiscuit๖ۣۜ 1 yes yes according to the western sources , it is russian made missile... what a crock , even the missile maker challenge the finding with proof , which no one in the west listen.. the NARRATIVE is Clear = Russkie Made Missile KEEL PEEEPLE.. I follow what you're saying, but my Dad, an old F-100 pilot would look out the window and probably say,"I used to do that to DC-6's way back in the day, just to have a little fun."
If the actual owner of this video ever shows up, I'd be just as curious as you are to find out what went down. However, I found this clip on a small site without any description. Since it wasn't on RUclips I decided to post it here so that folks like you could atleast witness this unusual scene.
You can see the F-16's nose pitched up while escorting side by side with the other jet, indicating that it's flying at a slower speed than it wants to for that altitude and conditions.
In my younger days I used to fly Lear 20 and 30 series aircraft for intercept training. The government contracted us out of California and New York state. After the intercepts, the fighters would typically join on our wing for the return to base. I suspect this is what your seeing here.
Probably interception training for the F-16. It rocks its wings which means "you have been intercepted, follow me." Incidentally, the wingman would be following behind the Lear and in a real interception would have its weapons ready.
That was a "textbook" intercept by the F-16. For what reason or if it was just training we may never know. As others have said, he was actually "communicating" with the Lear.
The "Lear Jet" is probably a military plane, and the F-16 a partway escort. I read the comments and see people saying the rocking the wings indicates that the fighter pilot is signaling the Lear Jet to follow him to a suitable or secure landing zone. Yet the Lear Jet doesn't seem to respond or follow.
+GYBEHO unless the Lear had lost their radio communication ability and gone unresponsive. Then the f-16 would have been sent to investigate and it had to use signals, ie rocking their wings, to communicate. This is clearly not an intercept, the f-16 would not have played around that long. Most likely it's a wing commander flying and greeting his family or a superior and their family, anyone who thinks a wing commander can't take an f-16 he is responsible for out for a joyride is dead wrong.
one thing, F-16s are land based. Even though they do have a small arrester hook for short runway landings, it's not strong enough to withstand a deceleration of 235 knots to 0 in under 3 seconds. And if it were a carrier interception, it would've been an F/A-18 hornet to intercept it.
he's just reading tail numbers, and doing a registration check with his atc, while saying hello, pilot to pilot. gotta make sure it is the correct plane on the flight plan, not to mention the lear was very much likely in MOA. it's a heck of a lot more common then you think, except the military usually tries to stay out of tcas range.
love the way the F-16 rolls to the right to display his weaponry to the Lear pilot on close visual..comes around to the port side, and does it again....Yes, I'm packin.....
Air force pilot is most definitely NOT "saying hello" to the other pilot. Rocking of the wings means he wants the target aircraft to follow him --which means the lear jet was nearing/had entered restricted or otherwise dangerous airspace. The F16 pilot repeats the gesture more aggressively because the private pilot is clearly not getting the picture. When the F16 "peels away" in a slow turn, he is both showing that he's fully armed & indicating the direction he wants the civilian jet to follow.
I find the explanation by 07PaulyShore07 just not correct. This F-16 is armed with missiles which means he is an "Alert" aircraft. He pulls up and tips his wings to show his missiles. This flight either didn't have a flight plan logged or their radio/transponder wasn't working. I'm sure there is a second F-16 trailing. No way the FAA would let these two aircraft get this close together to say hello.
nothing more than a friendly escort,a retired admiral was on board, the fighter pilots are just playing around, if this were to be a hostile situation(like an illegal entry in a no fly zone), the f-16´s would get in front of the learjet as soon as the learjet confirms visual contact. very nice video!!
"obvious this f-16 isn't armed" Whoa, you're kidding. No ordinance? That aircraft can have as much as three inboard weapon systems before considering the outboards. Apparently the poster was not able to identify the sidewinders on the outer portions. The aircraft was equip for long range fuel and for sure has at minimum a 50 caliber but more likely a 70mm. A common F-16 escort when over 200 miles out upon granted request. They know everything that's going on in the sky anyway. It's their job.
Thanks for the investigative work. I didn't realize one could track the owner with the tail #. But still, it's possible that the creator of the video just took a random picture of a Lear 35 off of Google Images. Keep it up though.
looks like the F-16 was trying to get the pilot of the lear jet to establish communications. The shaking of the wings is meant to establish contact with the pilot of the suspect aircraft and get them to follow the intercepting aircraft. If you notice, the F-16 was armed so who knows what happened
If you are intercepted by a fighter it would be in your best interests to communicate (if possible) and ascertain the reason for the interception. Don't think for one second that you will evade the visible aircraft. His wingman is trailing you at a safe distance and fully ready to put a rocket up your tail pipe or give you a burst of 20 MM if it comes to that. Follow instructions and all will go as well as the situation permits.
The Civil Air Patrol (civilian pilots) will sometimes run drills with the military. The F-16 seems quite friendly, so it could have a been a mock intercept arranged with the Learjet for the benefit of the falcon pilot.
These vipers were from the 144th ANG air wing based in Fresno, CA. I can only speculate two reasons why they intercepted this aircraft. One being that the civilian busted an FAR and F-16's were scrambled to intercept and possibly shoot down. Or two, the pilots had time to kill and they were showing off.
Reminds me of two things: That Chinese pilot that ran his MIG into a Navy P-3 Orion. And... That incident when the Lear lost cabin pressure as the crew and passengers (with a master golfer on board)lost consciencesness and crashed. Perhaps this was a test of an emergency commercial interception. Problem arises on a jet, commercial or private, and the Air Force intercepts for investigation.
Also, a fighter waving it's wings to another aircraft normally means to follow the pilot's jurisdiction, follow them, or receive landing instructions. I'm not in the service, but i do know this for a fact. And if it was over the pacific, i have no idea why they would send an F-16, they do have good range but it makes more sense to dispatch hornets from a carrier. And of that, I have no further info
The military routinely practices intercepts of general aviation aircraft for those few times a year when they actually have to intercept a stray general aviation aircraft. The "wing wag" means "follow me". The fact that the Lear doesn't change course tells me he's part of a practice exercise and his mission profile is to not follow.
Could be intercept training. We do this for the Airforce all the time. We fly into restricted airspace and time how long it takes for the interception. The missions themselves are classified though. When the f-16 rolls up he recognizes us and just turns back.
I know someone stated that it was basically unarmed but still, having an F-16 pull up on you is like someone catching up to you on the street carrying an M249 SAW......loaded or not it is still impressive.
This is a true statement. The PIC shall know he has been intersecepted but obiviously he kept flying without follow the F-16. Fortuntely this is in the US, or he could be shut down.

And still it adds nothing. So what's your point? :P
Actually, it's Son Volt singing Jet Pilot. Pay attention!
the music sucks.
It was a Dad intercepting his Son who was flying the Lear Jet. His dad was a Colonel in the Air National Guard I think.
Osakan Hime I think you are right according to the description of the video
Close. The Father was intercepting his daughter, whose Senior class was flying to Hawaii.
If at all true, that's a big no no. The pilot in the F-16 would probably lose their wings doing something like that.
That model Lear does not have the range to reach Hawaii, nor is it rated for overwater flight that far from land...
@@j.christopherlindsey8933 The Blue Angels do passes for show all the time. I think he would get permission to intercept his family's flight.

Music made me turn off in seconds , Horrible horrible music has no connection to Jets in any way , Thumbs down this video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No I just turned off the horrible video and read all the other comments saying same thing ,
Agreed 100%
Agreed! Bullshit music!
Could have turned the volume off.
Figure out how volume works yet?
What? I keep getting an error message that "this video is not available in your country." I'm in America for crying out loud!
How about dem freedoms?
now you know how the rest of us feel
Yeah, that's what happens when we let Google buy the Internet.
When a fighter is showing you his weapons like that, it means to follow him or their directions. The show of weapons is like saying, " You are being detained".
I don't know but I think you better do what he says.
+Leon Bain : The fighter pilot could easily have contatcted the Lear Jet by radio. Why didn't he??
+Norbert Siewert the Lear pilot could've simply not have known the frequency they were using or possible equipment failure. They also could've simply been bad guys.
+Norbert Siewert Maybe the Lear guy couldn't hear the F16 driver over the loud music?
If I'm out flying around and an F-16 starts taking that much of an interest in me, I'm gonna immediately start monitoring 121.5, as any pilot would...
He's not even armed.....but yes, it does command your attention.
As a Tornado F3 interceptor pilot, the wing rocking is an acknowledgment of receivement of informatoin, this could signal that there is no radio communication from the Lear....
maybe the F-16 was escorting some general or vip flying in the lear jet. Air Force does operate executive gets too. Just sayin.
Description States its a father in the f16 escorting his family in the Learjet
oh sweet
We call our Lear Jets a "C-21" and I can tell you that this wasnt one by how it was painted. USAF does not paint black on the wings.
That awkward moment when you and an a F-16 pilot have been looking at each other for tooo long after he rudely interrupted your flight in your lear.
pilot had detoured from his flight plan and was on the edge of u .s . navy missile defense test. it's common that the Navy does this in the Pacific you can never enter this air space they're lucky to have gotten home, the music makes it seem fun trust me it wasn't!!!! the pilot payed a hefty fine.
txflyguy007 I don't think the navy has f16s?
This is the USAF dude, you need VACR....... VISUAL AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION!!
@@av8tore71 loooool
That's a bit scarier than having a Crown Vic in your rear view mirror
I would shit myself if I saw an F16 outside my 36 window, must keep a closer eye on what happens outside, yr taxes at work right there:-)
You shouldn't worry about these guys wasting tax dollars. It's the cunt politicians.
You have a link to a news article related to that?
archive.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/03/19/pilot_dies_as_a_small_plane_strays_and_crashes_in_west_virginia/
That's happened a few times. Nothing you can do but watch it crash.
The F-2 is a production run of the F-16 Agile Falcon which the US never bought. It's a bit larger than an F-16 but basically looks the same. It has newer avionics built-in.
This music gave me cancer
LOL
My God is music awful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lear 35s operated by contractors are / were commonly used for practice intercepts by USAF NORAD aircraft. The company is Flight International.
ah the same F16 that shotdown Malaysian airlines MH370
+Buntalan Lucu ? it was a soviet made buk missile, we dont know who the fuck flicked the launc switch but it was a buk for sure
Russkie = Bad Evil People, Must Isolate Must Sanction Russkie... meanwhile please increase NATO military budget
only FOOLS and ignorant people believe in the western MSM lies
Buntalan Lucu an F-16 didn't shoot that down, Russians did. We weren't going any where close to that airspacr
Buntalan Lucu it was a soviet made buk missle launched from the crimea region, likely fired by a certain rebel group which i forget the name of
a missile system in the same area, 3 hours after the shootdown was spotted in the area by a non western alligned reporter, with russian markings but crewed by mixed uniforms suggestion rebel control, russia has a standard service uniform of course
Buntalan Lucu Russia did that and they don't use F-16s... America does
I follow what you're saying, but my Dad, an old F-100 pilot would look out the window and probably say,"I used to do that to DC-6's way back in the day, just to have a little fun."
who cares which jet it is, it looks nice.
If the actual owner of this video ever shows up, I'd be just as curious as you are to find out what went down. However, I found this clip on a small site without any description. Since it wasn't on RUclips I decided to post it here so that folks like you could atleast witness this unusual scene.
Horrible Music , Had to mute to watch for 15 sec before I paused and now will click off
You can see the F-16's nose pitched up while escorting side by side with the other jet, indicating that it's flying at a slower speed than it wants to for that altitude and conditions.
the music was mecessary WHY? at least play something more relevant or NOTHING AT ALL
In my younger days I used to fly Lear 20 and 30 series aircraft for intercept training. The government contracted us out of California and New York state. After the intercepts, the fighters would typically join on our wing for the return to base. I suspect this is what your seeing here.
The music truly sucks!
I think the F-16 pilot gets scared flying alone and needed someone to play with.
Everytime I hear this song at staples, I think of this video.
Why do you think it cuts so abruptly? HE DEAD
+SkylineToTheSeaAndMe If it indeed was some sort of escort, they would be communication on prescribed freq's
That F-16 is spectacular. I'm an F-15 fan but I really like them all. American ones that is.
People, pioneers, aviation, planes, training, science, technology, flight, military, supremacy, America......F' yeah!
that little wing wave made me smile
***** *steps back*
looks like two accomplished pilots enjoying the moment
he's just reading tail numbers, and doing a registration check with his atc, while saying hello, pilot to pilot. gotta make sure it is the correct plane on the flight plan, not to mention the lear was very much likely in MOA. it's a heck of a lot more common then you think, except the military usually tries to stay out of tcas range.
Not gonna lie, this makes we want to go out and get intercepted by an F-16 the next time I fly. Looks very graceful and professional.
love the way the F-16 rolls to the right to display his weaponry to the Lear pilot on close visual..comes around to the port side, and does it again....Yes, I'm packin.....
"You have been intercepted, follow me."
A Lear and an F-16. What a a couple.
looks like the F-16 was trying to get the pilot of the lear jet to establish communications.
+Wendell Croom
BS, i can take him out.... Just need someone to hold my beer
The Civil Air Patrol (civilian pilots) will sometimes run drills with the military. The F-16 seems quite friendly, so it could have a been a mock intercept arranged with the Learjet for the benefit of the falcon pilot.
With the music thought it was a joke, but the F-16 was packing heat! Danger Will Robinson, Danger! Sidewinders?
If a fighter pilot rocks his wings, you have to follow him
1:02
Dude's chillin'
If you look over and see this you better hope the radio is working....
They're merely checking the tags to make sure it's on the up and up.
A while back, on my way to New Guinea from Australia, I rode in a Lear Jet. An amazing plane in every way. What a ride!! Recommend highly!
Reminds me of two things:
That Chinese pilot that ran his MIG into a Navy P-3 Orion.
When the fighter turns his underbelly to the Lear, he's showing that his plane in armed.
Right on.. one of our local boys from the
144 fighting falcons... at thier best..
They're fully armed and ready to destroy.
Must have been pretty high on the USAF's "Special Intrest" list to get so much "Attention".
