"no-one wants to hear you cry about the grief inside your bones" FUCK!!! at this point I couldn't hold back the tears because this is what my depression tells me every day, so much so that I believe it now
This poem had me pouring my eyes out at three in the morning and it reminded me that recovery is good and that it doesn't mean you failed your eating disorder.
No matter how many times I watch her perform this, I always cry! It hits home! And she does such a beautiful job! I had the honor of seeing her do this poem live and it was just so powerful!
I love the way they had held onto every single word as if they too were reminding themselves to learn now to live again and I swear I clicked this video at the right timing because I've been feeling like trash all day and I needed all of their words.
@@amy923s because this person is non binary. Non binarys are people who are emotionally and quite physically if you look closely, are not male or female in particular. You mention people like that with "they" or "them" since both he/she does not work in this case.
I was not in a good place the first time I heard this poem and I remember the phrase "let me say right now for the record, I'm still gonna be here." I love rewatching this from a completely different place. It gets better
i've always loved this poem. i'm finally connecting the dots on my past traumas and mental health challenges and this poem has gained so much more significance for me. i am so grateful, thank you
I will always be blown away by how they not only put into words what people need to hear but also how they present the poem on stage...they are poetry if poetry could be a person
I wish I had heard this when I was a teenager, traumatized and feeling beyond any hope… but even still, even now, there are just some days that drag me back down, but these words have crawled into me right beside my heart for when I need them again.
They redid The Madness Vase with a new name!!! I personally prefer the other one since it didn't feel rushed. I've been in love with this poem for years now. I still do.
Sent this to every one of my friends who I know have felt the same as me, and to everyone I've helped save from suicide and wish I could send it, so much, to all the people I couldn't, or was so young I didn't. I've watched it many times, and will continue to. Thank you
I’m seeing Andrea live in San Francisco this spring. I’m so looking forward to it. I haven’t been able to find a high quality version of them preforming this poem before. Thank you for sharing.
i love them so much this is my go to poem to listen to on bad days it really does so much to help you remember that you really aren't alone. andrea has done so much good and i admire them so highly 💞
We're gonna write our own spoken poem tomorrow in English and the topic is forgiveness. What should my tone be? Solemn or like trying to prove a point by being a bit loud?
I have been there. "Continuing to fight. Next time I come out of my skin..." Powerful, suicide's battle cry against ending it all, live, live, live. I keep breathing, so I will keep trying.
Heads up: Andrea prefers they/them pronouns. But yes, they have a lot of other great poems on Button (my personal favourite is "Photoshopping My Sister's Mugshot") :)
It’s been 11 years since I first heard this poem. It saved my life again tonight.
I’m so glad you’re still with us.
Live live live!
"When I hit bottom it started hitting back." NAH!!!!! This broke my heart and healed it right back. This was amazing.
This poem saved me from suicide so many times
