  • Bryan A. Thompson, founder of Batee.com, shows you how to repair the 1986-1989 Corvette C68 Electronic Climate Control HVAC Controller. In this video, we show you how to repair most common issues with the controller, including intermittent and unreadable display panel, nonworking buttons, and blowing fuses. See our other videos for more HVAC system repairs.
This is a subject that we have covered in previous videos. Time has changed the availability of parts and the contents of our parts kits. Experience has changed our recommendations on the repair process, so it was time to update those videos. While we were at it, we upgraded to 4K video cameras, studio lighting and professional audio!
Go to batee.com for the parts needed to repair your instrument panel.

Thanks Bryan, I'm just starting to get the new a/c running in my 87 C4 and I noticed that the auto head unit is dead. no power. It was running a few months ago, and I am not sure if I plugged it in correctly. That said, I am going to take it apart and do what you just did in the video, as my controller blinks and goes crazy when it gets hot. The system still runs, it just blinks all over. BTW, my rebuilt dashboard is running perfectly. Thanks again, Peter Cermak

My problem is that the silicone switch contacts has cracked and I cant find those anywhere. I had to cut and fiddle with the ones who still is intact to make the most important functions to work. I hate that those ******* discontinued the faceplate . Just makes it harder for all C4 enthusiasts to maintain their vehicles

Do a search for "conductive rubber buttons". You might be able to find something which you can modify to fit.

    Why change capacitors?

Caps go bad after a while. Electrolyte caps dry out and essentially become resistors after a period of time.
