I use 10 aggressive tread stainless steel screws with stainless washers the size of quarters per shingle. I also tar the supreme f**k out of each shingle as well. When Im done, I build a house around the house so that no weather gets at it.
You should do a comparison between the IkO dynasty and IKO Nordic. Maze double hot dipped galvanized ring shank nails are the cream of the crop for shingle installs.
Iko sucked now they don’t suck as much but I’m not confident in the life expectancy of the actual tar adhesive itself or the composition of the material itself. This is a new product and I like timberline because it’s tested and lasting so far 20 years and counting whereas the last batch of Iko laminates were very poor quality. There’s a lot of small time contractors out there putting their name behind these new products that have yet to be verified with time tested experience.
