You don't have to be a Catholic nor do you have to agree with them. It's important that Sede Vacante does not last very long and it's the hope of every Catholic that our Pontifex is intelligent, faithful to Christ and leads the church with wisdom. The only thing secret about this ritual is the names and the voting counts. The ritual itself is not secret and is free for all to see in a Latin Publication called Ordo Rituum Conclavis which contains the words and hymns for what we regard as a very holy process.
