To me, what was impressive about Mike Tyson was his build. Heavyweights are usually a lot taller than 5'10. Mike was usually at a disadvantage when it came to reach, but it didn't really matter.
Watching him always made me wonder if I could become a great boxer. I'm 5'10, 200lbs. I have a very similar build to him naturally, I'm just less muscular.

I won't tell you no, but only Tyson, Rocky, and Frazier were monsters while being under 6ft tall.
Through training and fights, I'll cheer you on if you get there. It's hella impressive at those short heights (boxing wise)
He said anyone can do it...if they trained like him. Train 6 hours a day consistently you'll get there. I could, but I can't be arsed and I'm at peace with that. No-one trained harder than Tyson and that's what made him different from the rest. He said his talent was working hard, not natural talent when you see how he trained...you understand that.

Tyson had his flaws, but at his best, he was unstoppable. The most feared fighter to ever step foot in a combat sports ring. The combination of his speed and power were just completely unmatched at the time. Guys had no answer for it because they'd never seen anything like it. There will never be another Mike Tyson.

We thoroughly enjoyed watching Iron Mike annihilate his opponents back in the day, knowing full well it wasn't going to last forever. He'd eventually had to go down by somebody. But his legend will never die. Just like how people still hold Ali in high regard. Plus, Tyson was so good Nintendo made him the final boss in their Punch-Out game, and we 100% believed it! lol

It might not be a popular opinion, but I think Tyson in his prime is the best boxer who ever lived. Almost as quick as Ali, but hit at least 3x harder. There was nobody who could beat him.
It’s def a hot take for sure. Respectfully I’d have to disagree. But Tyson in his prime was S-tier for sure, no denying that at all.
I used to think the same thing, but Ali was faster, with of course the reach advantage and just as good a boxer. But none of those are why Ali would win. Ali would win because he was a born warrior. At the core of his soul. At the core of Tyson's soul was a scared little boy who'd had it rough his whole life. Tremendous power, great speed and skills, but what happens when that's not enough. When not only is the other guy not scared, he just keeps coming round after round and no matter how hard you hit him he keeps getting back up. For 15 rounds. No. Ali would win.
