I’ve been cracking my wrists during sleep. Happens every morning around 2-5am. My wrists have become weaker, feel pain during workout like when doing dumbbell row, pushups, dumbell triceps extension.
I had an injury 15 years ago and now my neck and back constantly tight and sore, these stretches will work wonders. Thanks love the channel best bar none.
Have you been examined by a clinician? You may have some structural damage, instability, and or compression going on where stretching could make things worse
Great content as always. Would love to hear your thoughts on the use of anti-inflammatories and their effects on exercise, muscle recovery, and recovering from injury
Hi I'm a fan, I've a request, can you do few videos for scoliosis people to be fit , not the boring rehabilitation exercises but muscle, abs, glute exercises . Thank you.
Thanks Jeff for another educational video! Always appreciate you making great content that's easy to follow. Can you make a video for a routine full body stretching at the end of the day before bed? I've been doing a series of static stretches before bed but not sure if I'm missing any muscles for optimal recovery. Thanks
Yeah I cried from time-to-time mostly to relieve the pain that I feel like in my back and stuff sometimes my knee because of a car accident it feels like it's going to you know breaking half from The joint so I usually have to bend and crack it to help like why my chiropractor did
Can we have a video for reverting the hand tendency in males(usually) from a close to clenched fist back to having hands with fingers pointing straight downwards?
In making overnight oats on the weekend for the work week, is it safe to put powdered creatine monohydrate in the overnight oats on the weekend, in other words will it destabilize from Monday to Friday in the fridge. Any safety issues. Thanks
Also, sometimes, where the pain is might not be where the actual biomechanical problem. Generally, pain is a poor indicator of where the primary mechanical issue is located. The location of the pain may be compensatory in nature from a mechanical problem in a different region. Pain can be the last thing to show up and the first thing to leave when dealing with a biomechanical problem. This means you could’ve had a mechanical problem before you were even experiencing pain. Over manipulation, self or from a doctor, can aggravate a problem too. Find a level-headed state licensed professional doctor. Get examined and treated conservatively. Maintenance your body. And remember: Your structure dictates your function.
Yeah I definitely feel what you're saying like literally I'll get relief for an hour or few minutes sometimes it'll last a whole day depending on what kind of pump I get in my back but then after the pump is gone is usually you know pain again but even if I do some light warm ups on my muscle you know to like bring my shoulder blades together kind of thing to contract I'll feel cracking during that as well
These are pretty common in yoga actually especially when focus on the first point that it's not about the cracking but the desire to move and stay in that range of motion for bit of time.
I started cracking my lumbar 2x daily. In one direction but the other direction has less rom. Just trying to increase that rom seems to help a sciatic issue. I should see a doc but they'll push me to a surgeon
Hey Jeff, I was wondering if you had any advice on training around a hand injury? I have a fracture and can't hold anything heavy in my left hand, and it's KILLING MY GAINS. Thinking about fracturing the other side to prevent imbalances. Thanks!
When I engage my biceps during workouts, I experience sensations akin to electric shocks. Any ideas about the possible causes of this phenomenon? Specifically, I notice it most when performing concentration curls and chin-ups.
Sounds like a nerve is catching or rubbing. I get a lot of pain from the shoulders down through the arms due to degenerated disks in the neck and nerves being compressed.
I used to crack my neck. The more stuborn it was the more violent I'd twist. One night I swung my neck around and it didnt crack. What did happen was that elecrtic feeling you get when you know you almost f'd up really bad. My neck muscles seized and I couldnt turn my head for a couple hours. Years later I'm getting a MRI (I have MS. My neuro decided that since we had never done imagij if the crevical nd thorasic spine since I've been diagnosed. Imaging shows I have two herniated discs in my neck ... never knew it since there's no symptoms ... but I know how it happened. :/ Becareful out there folks!
TL;DR; In 2009 Dr Donald Unger received an IG Nobel for testing this issue. He was cracking his left hand every day but not the right one for over 60 years. He then had his hands tested and the conclusion was that this causes no issues. He conducted this test because his mother and other family members said it would damage his joints, and he just thought why not put it to the test. That said if someone has any other joint related problems (as this doctor did not) the result may be different. Im cracking my fingers and sometimes back for over 25 years and no issues so far ;) I do not crack my neck dough. At least not inentionally ;)
When I saw Jeff bend back his fingers, it gave me psychological pain how much elasticity he has. And if I don't make noise with my fingers, although for many it is de-stressing, for me if I have a lot of stress I come home and release that load with exercise. Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴
I used to crack my knuckles all the time until my music teacher heard me do it and lost it at me, berating me that I was a fool to do it. He showed his ring finger that always hung down and couldn't straighten; he had to play chords on the piano with a different technique so he didn't accidentally play an extra note. I never did it again, it's been over 20 years.
I am a long time subscriber of your channel and I appreciate and respect your content . In your latest video, you referred to synovial gas bubble release as “cracking” and “popping.” You alternated between these two terms throughout your video to explain the same phenomenon. I assume you kept using the word “cracking” because that’s how most people refer to the sound of gas bubbles releasing. But since your videos and your channel are meant to educate and disseminate facts versus misinformation, may I suggest you make it clear that the release of gas bubbles from synovial fluid is not the sound of “cracking“ knuckke joints any other bones or joints. While habitual incorrect popping“ of synovial gas bubbles in the knuckles can result in reduced grip strength over time (likely not arthritis), there are many adjustments of other parts of the body that result in a loud popping upon release of synovial gas bubbles, which are quite beneficial. But many people, when they hear this sound, even when seeking professional treatment, are terrified because they believe that their bones or joints are actually cracking, which of course they are not. Using exclusively correct terminology to refer to this synovial gas release phenomenon would go along way in educating people about the benefits of proper spine and joint adjustments when necessary and dispelling associated myths and apprehensions perpetuated by inaccurate terminology.
I’ve been cracking all my joints throughout my whole body for 60 years now and I’ve never suffered any medical issues such as joint pain, swelling or arthritis. It’s a habit that I don’t like to stop because it gives me stress relief and an overall feeling of satisfaction. My doctors told me for years to stop because I’ll have arthritis, but that’s just a myth. Crack away everyone and 😂
There was a guy who researched this by cracking his fingers on one hand for 15 years and not the other and afterwards did x-rays and various tests and didn't find any differences in both hands.
wrong, personal experience. It's not good long term. I cracked my knuckles "safely" since I was 12, at 50 I have lost almost all of my pinch and power grip. When I work with my hands too long the fingers seize up and I have to pry them open very slowly or it feels like I'm tearing my tendons. My whole hands hurt all the time. My elbows pop on there own after they get stuck while I'm trying to lift something. I know have tennis and golf elbow in the left one. trying to use a power washers for an hr at work is so painful I can not straighten my arm. And No the doc's can't do a darn thing for me.
@@winnerscreed6767what's this "safely"? Did you crack both opposite movements (flexing and extending)? Did you train your fingers regularly? You have lots of problems to just blame it on "safely" cracking alone. My grandma has that grip problem like you on the left side and see ain't doing any crack.
Hi, embarrassed to admit but I’ve been doing it for years now and the inflammation is real. Will the inflammation go away if I stop doing it or is it permanent damage 😕

Hi Jeff, so can you suggest the work of a chiropractor and will it be safe?
What about cracking at the knees while squatting? Particularly deep squats

My dad was a crack addict. Seeing him doing it all the time i picked it up at early age. Thank you very much, for showing us how to do crack safely.
These are priceless lessons by a top physical therapist. Would love to see a video dedicated to knee crack pop/sound.

Great content as always. Would love to hear your thoughts on the use of anti-inflammatories and their effects on exercise, muscle recovery, and recovering from injury

Thank you for speaking so openly about crack addiction!

Hi Jeff. Thanks for covering this topic. I was hoping you would talk about this since its a very common question asked. Thanks a lot!!!
I love this type of content. It answers those common addictions many of us have👍
Greetings from Sardinia.
Thank you Jeff for a GREAT demonstration of how and why it can be safe!

Awesome video, thank you!
Hi Jeff thanks for the video, but I don't get this cracking sound is that normal.
Yes it is normal, just like he said, that fluid in your joints is creating bubbles, and by cracking, you're just popping those bubbles
