He lost his relationship of around 8 years at this time too (she's a pediatrician at Mayo Clinic if you want to talk about the kind of people this involves). He scooped up 2 DUIs in his mid twenties. No biggie, he can turn it around, right? Dick Cheney had 2 DUIs, even George W. Bush had one. Well he tried a few things, a couple stints in rehab but alcohol was everywhere and he never really wanted to quit. He viewed himself as a failure. He had the best grades, the best test scores: a good-looking top-of-his-class student athlete. He wanted to run for political office to be a supreme court justice. But now he was a low-functioning drunk with a criminal record. So he tried to work again. And got fired. And lived with his parents. Then worked. Then got fired. Moved back in with the parents again... And this continued from his late twenties until his death in his late 30's, from alcohol complications. He just didn't care anymore. Being talented seems like a double edged sword.
