I just went though a bad breakup with my boyfriend of 9 months. It was the worst thing I have experienced yet. He was my heart and my soul. My North Star in this world full of darkness. This song made me think of how I had chosen the wrong way to say goodbye. I was holding on when I shouldn't have been. Sometimes we get our heart broken just so our prince charming can come along and glue it back together. Anyways I just wanted to say this song is amazing and Pat has a wonderful voice.

For everyone who are confused about why he's not singing with Train, he recorded a Solo album, he's still with Train, this was just like a solo project on the sidelines or something.

Like the song says "You're tears are made of pride/my tears have all been cried." Having been through a relationship where I NEVER gave up to the point where just about all contact was initiated by myself, but she wasn't as invested in the relationship as I was so she just kind of drifted away. Some things are not in your control. So the answer to your question
