Kelly really was an angel in this show who showed character growth in every episode and only ever improved as a person.
Yeah, sure she was. I guess when she dumped Zack for that college pretty boy and everyone sided with her instead of standing by their long-time friend Zack, you would get the illusion that she was an angel. Kelly was not a good person; she was gorgeous though...

I really couldn't stand Zack Morris but when he got with Lisa "for one episode" I was so pissed and couldn't believe he did that to screech. Even though Lisa and screech wouldn't ever be a thing, it still was messed up cause they were friends and Zack knew how screech wouldve felt. Ugh "ZACK MORRIS IS TRRAAASH"
Tori was a cliche character who didn’t fit and the actor who portrayed her tried too hard to convince that she was a tough girl from Brooklyn but was terrified to death when she experienced her first earthquake when she first came to bayside. The writers tried everything in their power to make Tori look authentic but failed miserably and just made her look like another stereotypical character

Zack changed his name to Patrick Bateman after high school.
You know this was written by guys in their 40s and 50s because the kids all act like it’s 1983 in 1991, tuck their t shirts into their 1980s undersized jeans, the black girl acts like Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club and the Latino guy has a mullet and dresses like an extra from Flashdance. Embarrassing to everyone. I was 10 in 1991 and I was already wearing baggy jeans and growing up in Canada, hip hop/gangsta rap culture was a lot more influential. When these guys formed a “rock band,” it really showed how dated it was. Even the raps were straight out of Krush Groove, with everyone dressing like early Run DMC. NBC’s whole kid lineup around this time was very dated. I think eventually City Guys at least attempted to be current. It wasn’t great, but they tried.

Unfortunately it was made in the 90s. Zack was supposed to be the cool kid, but he dressed like he was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. What is up with that blue sweater? I was 11 when this show was at its peak, and I remember thinking they were way behind the times. I only tuned in to see if Kelly showed her stomach, honestly. The music was like an even more overproduced and sanitized version of bad 80s hair metal. I was a white kid from Canada and I was already wearing baggy jeans and spiking my hair by 1991. If you had a mullet at that point, you were at least in your 30s and didn’t realize the moment was over. This would have been awesome if it was made even 5 years before but it would have been dated fast. Just about the only reference to anything current in this show for its time was when Belding wanted a CD player installed in his car and they did the odd rap number. But whenever the gang would form a rock band or the girls formed a pop group, we’re right back to dated crap. I remember tuning out in those moments as a kid because it felt old. The whole show felt like what it was: a bunch of 20somethings playing teenagers on a show written by 40somethings who didn’t understand 90s kids. Again, I was just there for the eye candy. I thought Lisa was hot, but they miscast her completely. The one black girl in the show and she’s the Molly Ringwald character from the Breakfast Club. It’s Southern California and the black girl acts like a white valley girl from the 80s and the only other nonwhite character has a mullet and acts like a low rent Ted from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures.
