  • In this LiveStream, Jason will show you tips and tricks that will help you design for 3D printing. If you struggle to get good quality 3D prints, your design itself could be part of the problem. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is critical to getting good results out of any manufacturing process, including 3D printing. If you 3D print prototypes or use additive manufacturing for your final production, this live stream is for you. Join us to see the best tips & tricks for how you can improve your final parts!
    In this video, Jason will be referencing his Makerbot Method X Carbon 3D printer. If you would like to learn more about the Makerbot METHOD platform, click here: bit.ly/3BQTG5e

    It really is too bad the Additive Assistant is only available for windows. I'm sure the majority of Fusion users is on windows but Mac users has to be a significant percentage. Hopefully it will be available for Mac later.

    Clearance. What about a standard clearance value. I have a problem with getting 2D CAD drawings where the modeler creates parts that fit together with absolutely zero tolerance. They seem to come back machined out of delrin just fine so I do not know if there is some machinist trick happening where tolerances are being added in the machining phase? But if I do not add at least 6 thousandths of an inch clearance between every part that has to mesh then I get garbage that does not assemble off my printer!

      I agree with you 100% and wish that I would have brought that up myself!

      Automatically adding clearance between two components would be nice. eg select one part and then have all faces in contact with any other parts automatically be offset by 0.0006".
      What I do is create a parameter (called Clearance obviously) and set that to 0.0006 (or whatever). I can then add that to parts as I create then, so a bar might be diameter "20mm - Clearance", or you can go in afterwards and Offset the faces to that Clearance value. If I find the value I used is wrong I can just change the Clearance parameter and it all updates.

    Guys, do you know how can i model the Osmo Mobile 3?
    I was doing it with surface, but i keep trying and the form is some weird.

    "In general a minimized z height is better and faster" this is simply not true in many ways. The rest of this video is great but please clarify this point

    • @easyriderj
      @easyriderj 2 года назад

      For most 3D printers, a part oriented to minimize Z height will print faster than the same part oriented to maximize Z height. Same part, same volume of material. Hope this is helpful

    VERY GOOD I HAVE EVER LEARN FUSION 360 FROM THIS CHANNEL

    @jason L It would be so great If you made a tutorial on API/making addins. Do you know anything about this? You know someone at autodesk that could make this? Found some old tutorials but I don't think they are explainable enough!

      I would love to, but I’m afraid I’m not knowledgeable enough in that subject.

      @@easyriderj ok i see:) what about best total workflow when designing? I mean how you structure component, and if you use the master body method (first make the main shape and the split it up in separate components and so on.
      And also when you choose to make external or internal components when building up assembly in same file.
      Basically, the whole workflow to keep an assembly clean, but still be able to directly design inside the assembly file

    This is just what i needed and have missed i fusion 360 converting stl files fantastic and thank you for sharing your knowledge the only big con is the price point 495 usd that is just way too expensive considering it`s just for a yare it`s like a robbery and that is really a deal killer for most hobbyist that dont own a pent house in new York or London. so so close but still out of the ballpark. so still a useless program for the general public that is really a sad thing. get closer to 30 - 50 dollar pr yare and you have a winner. That being the price point at least in the 3d printing community thinks and there is about 1500 hundred that says that 30 to 50 usd pr yare or my be 10 usd a month is my wort the investment if full access is granted.

      You are aware that it’s free for hobbyists right. (With a few restrictions )

    • @helge1104
      @helge1104 3 года назад

      @@martinmarriott3607 yes it`s restricted. Happy and grateful for the free ver. that not the point.
      The functions that make the program awesome is still over the horizon for most do to the price point.
      So just saying its properly better for business to have a price for hobbyists that are more down Earth and not only for suited corporate stander.
      Rather than being left whit only one option that is just window shopping.
      Just a license for a yare more expensive than all 3 printers i have got in my workshop and consumables needed to have this hobby for a yare, a good 3d printer at hobby level is priced new from 100 to 200 usd as a one time investment, so taking that into the picture, it make no sense to pay about 500 usd for a limited time usage.
      There is just no way to justify that for the majority.
      Therefor no cigar.
      Not at all saying the free option is in any way useless it give a lot of options and possibility's for free but since the full unrestricted software is so expensive and unobtainable there is really no point in deepening and learning all ticks IF ever find a software out there that come close to fusion but at a more sensible pricing options i will migrate never look back. And that cant be a good thing or.... sorry not my meaning to offend or talk fusion down its easy to learn use and stabile but just way to pricy to get the full awesome.

      @Helge, I am glad you see the benefits that Fusion 360 offers. Sorry to hear that those benefits do not justify the price point for you. We do have a hobbyist / personal use license, but it is slightly restricted vs the commercial version, just like Martin Marriot mentioned. Don't forget that you can always temporarily upgrade to the commercial version for just a month. So, if an important project comes up that justifies a $60 USD expense, that is also available to you. I don't set any of the Autodesk pricing, but I do believe that the price is worth it. Despite working at Autodesk, I still pay for my own license that I use after hours for my hobbies. Anyway, thank you for joining and best of luck!

      @@easyriderj just saying its properly better for business to have a price for hobbyists that are more down Earth. , but its a start after all the rest is free so we agree to disagree but at 60 usd for a month is still a bit pricy so no cigar its still window shopping for me...

      @@easyriderj great live stream as always! I have a suggestion for a new live stream. Complete workflow when designing a part, concerning how to use internal or external component (when making an complete assembly file), and the best way to use derive when designing products. So what I mean is the best workflow in fusion 360 to keep the design clean, flexible and effective.
      Hope that was understandable:)
