Could you please tell me route you took? I have never done this trip and I want to take the fastest route. What all to enter in google maps instead of just Kolkata to Siliguri? Any input would be really helpful.
Shortest is Kolkata-Burdwan(Badshahi Road)-Moregram-Farakka-Malda-Raiganj-Dalkhola-Kishanganj-Siliguri. Take Botolbari Road after Raiganj if you reach Raiganj by 4 pm because that road is not safe after sunset. That's it. Best Wishes ❤️❤️

Travelling from Jorhat to Kolkata in May. Jorhat to Siliguri is a straight 4 lane highway. From Siliguri to Kolkata is something I am worried about. Can you say is it a 4 lane highway or it’s a combination of 2 lane 4 lane highways? Should I take the Berhampore road or the Burdwan Road?

You could avoid the dilapidated stretch between Funtisanko and Kuli by taking Old Delhi Road off the Durgapur Expressway(from Dankuni and then riding along SH 6 to reach Krishnanagar via Nabadwip. You would just love the roadways.
