I really hope that the young people of the DMV embrace Go Go the way we did in the 80's,90's,& early 2000's. Live music,& a style all it's own. Don't let this music fade youngins!!!!

I am an old head DC musician..In the 70's when long percussion grooves began the hi hat was always closed and rhythmically opened on half beats. You were called lazy if you left it open all the time..lol. ..also our grooves were more cowbell and tambourine driven like the early stuff from Trouble Funk. Btw the Congo's and timbales combo that DC bands use was inspired by the great Santana. Check out his early 70s videos with the long percussion grooves. Stay up homie and keep playing.
