“Max is just a poor kid who was groomed.”
16-year-olds of 2009 or even 2014 were like today’s 23-year-olds. Back then a 16-year-old was a young adult, not a kid who could be seen as susceptible to xenophobic grooming on the basis of age alone. Kids these days (especially boys/lads) are so baby-ish and immature.

Exactly. Even when I was 16. I was expected to be responsible. This was 2014.

@@justmanic9673 this is it. The teenage culture of the eighties, nineties, early noughties and early-mid. 2010s featured (in Britain alone) things like World’s Strictest Parents; Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents (I still go through some of these shows on weekends when I can/feel like it); youth groups (on a cleaner note) and a whole culture of fake IDs, buying tobacco and alcohol underage, talk less of actually doing the drinking and smoking (which was never illegal for 16-year-olds technically). Some of that might have been “wrong” but by-and-large it was a generation of people who lived, had life experience and aged naturally. A 16-year-old from the time when David Platt was that age would not have been written as an impressionable P.R.U.-trapped boy for whom drinking a can of cider was a prize that no-one other than a group of extremist weirdos would let him drink without involving the police and you do see similar in real life. 2000 - 2003-born young people are somewhat borderline (but mature enough) but anyone born after that (especially lads/boys) is part of an era where only smart girls with an eye for TikTok seem to really grow.
And why are Corrie still pretending that Paddy Bever can act in the first place?

@@Anonymous_Anon882 I've no idea where it began but even in real life. It's not as bad as the soaps make out. I think Amy/Summer/Simon were the last decently written teens
