i’ve watched the whole what’s it like for female photographers in the industry thing about 5 times now. photography is something i have interest in and always have. i’ve taken whole days and just went outside and taken pictures of everything and anything from my dog to plants, my friends, and the sunset, all on my crappy phone camera but that didn’t stop me. just because i’m a girl doesn’t mean im any less capable of doing something a man can. i’ve been told so many times “oh you can’t do that your a girl” yes i can. it just doesn’t make sense. i can do what i want to. you can’t stop me from doing what i love just because i’m a girl. it isn’t fair. we could make it fair but we aren’t. gender equality is a serious problem. this is unacceptable. that’s my soup for you.
Tessa Pflum I’ve been filmmaking for awhile and it’s wild to me how much disrespect some guys have to girls even if they’re in a higher position than them. I’m very thankful that there are many people out there who recognize the work and talent of female photographers/videographers etc. It’s really unfair since I know plenty of girls in the industry who are arguably more talented/creative than some guys I know in the industry
Would also like to clarify a question I answered: Does the quality of the camera matter? For shows: yes, it does matter. For general use? No, it doesn't matter. Use whatever camera your heart desires baby, just get something and start shooting.
@@echo_felix331 honestly i didn't mean to haha, i accidentally overcropped it and forgot to show the username after i exported. figured it wasn't too big of a deal
Just thought I'd let you know that I've finally finished that video I was putting off. Boy was it a struggle but we got there baby . Ended up using some AJR music for it so I'd say it turned out pretty alright. Thanks for the hard-put advice, Austin. There's really no other way to do it than to just do it. I found through that few days of putting it off that unplugging from everything else also helped. I've got my footage and and software open and that's it. Get rid of the distractions and I'm all set to go until I become literally hungry. Great soup as always.
really REALLY love all that you do for ajr’s tour and for your photography fan base. i’m not a part of the latter myself, but watching you talk about this passion of yours so honestly and so openly is definitely fueling my own motivations for my own things. it’s just so nice to see someone so genuine give all that they are to their audiences. really, really appreciative of your work, man :) i love the soup
wow, love this comment. thank you sincerely for watching. it really does make me happy to see people motivated after watching this to go out and chase their dreams a little bit. thank you again, seriously. :-)
Good Day Austin, I really enjoyed your video. The way you answered the question about females in the industry was spot on. I am not a photographer, but I am a sportswriter. Which is another male-dominated field. It can definitely be hard at times, but I enjoy what I do. So long as you surround yourself with the right people and work profoundly hard, everything will eventually breakeven!
Great stuff, Austin! Thanks for answering my question. You give off great vibes and really pull off talking in front of the camera! You make good stuff. Stay hungry, my man.
yo david! thanks for the question. i wish i had a bit more of a detailed answer for you, but the truth was, really, video was my portfolio i developed over the years that eventually lead me to small tours (which in turn, lead me to bigger tours).
The story about the female photogs is s relatable as a female photog. I'm either seen as dumb and like idk my shit or that I'm a groupie who is just there to hookup with the band. I've had to adamantly assert myself and at times have them call the tour manager or my contact just to get into the show. Half the time I don't have any issue but that other half definitely sucks 😅
