I do agree that BPB need to be more open and honest about e-stops when they happen. Even back in 2001, they just wouldn't be honest.
I thought the fast and slow wheels became a thing in the 90s? I believe there’s a number of reasons 3 train ops were scrapped in 2001, shame really but it is what it is. There is definitely no wind shut down sensor!
@@danpmbo There is a wind speed and direction sensor. In Your Experience Guides' video: The Big One (Pepsi Max) "Between The Rails", @1:09, you can see it

this is the perfect time for this video especially as it has been stopping a few times at 200 ft this year, the papers always get it out within a day of it happening saying that the big one “broke down” when actually if it did carry it could result in injury
I have seen the big one stop at 200 foot in march, when you did your most recent visit to plesure beach, i even have a picture of it stopping, which was very cool for my little ones to see as they love rollercoasters. Great to meet you on the 24th of march, love videos Scott, keep up the good work.
yeah and like social media is the place to "educate yourself" or get news from when all everyone is looking for is self gratification and more likes.....
This makes me feel confident enough to get on the Big One now. All the stories didn't help, but this explains a lot of the drama. Can't wait to go on now. I never went on due to the height but mostly because of the "issues", so I'll hopefully go on now and not worry if it does stop.
Super video, it’s great to see things like this being explained by a proper enthusiast whom understands about them. I remember learning some of these things many years ago .
I'd be so pleased if Big One stopped at the top of the lift hill when I'm on it (as long as I had a coat on). I've had stops on Big Dipper and Valhalla up to now.
Thank you so much Scott thought this was a great knowledgeable insight into what many perceive as issues. It’s not new though remember JR on the Pleasure Beach series it stopped on the hill and within 2 minutes the local radio station were on the phone what’s wrong with the Big One. In a side note do they still have 3 trains available to use on the varying compounds or are they down to two just wondered?
Thanks for explaining about the wheel checks, and for channeling your inner ElToroRyan! ;) It would be a massive shame if BPB did nothing about the Big One’s 30th Birthday. They’ve still got until late May before Hyperia fully takes it’s crown.
I'm going to pleasure beach on Saturday however, high winds are forecasted. So this obviously means the big one won't be open but, will it affect any other major rides such as Icon?
I went for the first time the other day and managed to go on the big one twice one in the day and one at night. My only problem was when i went on my own for the 2nd time round i kept slamming my back into the ride and it led to bruising. However, first ever time on it i was sat next to my mates brother and had no issues whatsoever. So i say if you’re going on it make sure to be sat with someone to make it less forceful on your body. That being said, i still love the ride and the view at the top is outstanding!
Very good video Scott Thank you. Didn't know anything about various wheel types used on Big One so learnt something new. I have never done Big One personally but would do it in a heartbeat for sure. I'm sure as you mentioned there are so many talented people working on this ride 24 hours a day. Got to do it.
Really interesting. I’d be interested to know what the various “compounds” are and how different formulations affect the ride experience. Wheels are generally polyurethane (PU) but PU is such a versatile material. PU is a thermoset created by the reaction between polyols and isocyanates. The choice of polyol and isocyanate - not to mention catalysts or other additives - can massively change the PU’s characteristics. PU can be a solid compound like rollercoaster wheels, a rigid foam like insulating panel board (used a lot in theming and rock work because it’s easy to sculpt), and also as the foam in cushions and mattresses. I, for one, would be really interested in seeing a video on this one day.
awesome funko pops there!, i just recently found your channel, love watching the rollercoasters and informative videos. also i have never been on a coaster ever as im terrified of heights, but you bring us some of the best views and experiences so thank you!
Thanks for the education Scott. I was only chatting with family yesterday and I mentioned acc to what I've read the Big One's been playing up apparently.. There it is, I'm a little wiser and thanks for another great video.
Extremely well put video may I add, well done that man!! 👍🙂 Not a ride tech by any degree, but as a past contracting engineer working proudly at the pleasure beach, both in and out of season, it gave me a prime view of the Big One all year round. To hear all these people complaining about it breaking down again, is just utter nonsense!! They are only trying to headline themselves! A good few years ago on a dark illuminations night, on a luckily quiet night, I was absolutely honoured to get 3 rounds on the Big One, one after another! Stunning view especially during the illuminations, with pitch black backdrop of the sea. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RIDE, WE ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE HERE IN THE UK!! TO JOIN IN THE MOAN, PLEASE DON'T SPOIL THIS EVERYONE!!! 🤦♂
Agree with you that Blackpool Pleasure Beach should promote the 30 year anniversary more. It might be a theme park thing though, the Hulk Roller Coaster has a 25 year anniversary in May and there's no new merchandise. However Universal Studios are already selling their fright night merchandise.
Lets hope that people actually link to this video anytime the local media start there nonsense! What annoys me is due to me obviously being an enthusiast you see all these terrible headlines on your news feed and I get frustrated with the lack of knowledge being demonstrated by so called journalists. We do basically need Amanda to come out and say something against all this, she is forthright, doesnt mince her words and always has been like it or not but she is deffo the person that needs to put out a video shutting down all this!
I’d like to see someone more professional on camera doing it, someone that could comfortably talk about it because they know what they’re talking about
Really interesting, that was new information to me! What do you think Pleasure Beach would do when the Big One does eventually need to be removed. Do you think they should rebuild it like Nemesis Reborn but with a modern manufacturer?
This is really interesting, Scott. Geat video. I'm sure the Big One is reliable. Sadly, the one trip we did to Pleasure Beach was during that really hot spell in July 2022 and the Big One was closed cos of the heat for most of the 2 days we were at the park. We waited almost 2 hours on the first morning to ride, zero communication from anyone while the train went around a few times and was parked on the lift hill for ages. We did get to ride once, sadly it really was so dull and forceless it felt disappointing after the long wait with no shade in that heat. Still it was good to ride and it's nice to see an iconic ride like this still going strong. Hope it has plenty more years.
Thank you 🙏 I actually remember that heatwave, it was very intense! This may be of interest www.yourexperienceguide.info/event-details/a-grand-trip-saturday-14th-september-2024 😊
@yourexperienceguide Awesome, you guys are coming to Emerald! I did not know the new coaster names until I read your event info. Good on Your Experience Guide, first with all the scoops!! We would definitely love to come to this event, thanks fir the info. 😍
The big one also has a system that monitors wind speed and direction at the top of the lift hill. If it detects wind at a certain speed and direction, the big one will also stop the train if it's on the lift hill as if the wind is a certain speed and direction the train cannot make it to the mid brake run and will roll back causing the park a massive headache. Sorry I cannot remember the actual wind stats.
I know what you mean with the clickbait. Do you remember when coral island had a small fire in the sign outside. The fire brigade were there within 5 mins and it was out within 10. The only damage was the skull and a bit of water in that entrance. Yet the press reports had the headlines " massive blaze rips through Blackpool arcade"
It wasn’t a station brake failure, it was a block brake override that lead to one train colliding with the one in the station. It ran on one train in 2001 and two trains onwards in 2002.
Its getting retracked slowly supports in blue need a repaint as rusty apart from that the big one is a classic ride here for another good 50 years and not end up like wide mouse taken away to soon
I got the video from merc shop back in the day and even made a presentation in army for it😂 oh can we possibly see an update on your car that you got when you made a video on it a couple years back?
Awesome video Scott, thankyou so much for fighting this iconic coasters corner. Yes it's old, yet it's rattely....isn't that why we love it? It's the nostalgia for Arrow, the memory of the record breaking.....no one can take that away. I will be there this weekend with RCCGB and looks like storm Kathleen will put Big One out of action but hey ho. 😢 You are so right about clickbait articles....sad people with nothing better to report on. Love all the nerdy info btw❤
I doubt you saw that. If they were doing anything with the train they’d lift the track in the station, put the train affected down stairs in the maintainance level and they’d do it there.
Going there tomorrow, before I get my cancer scan results on Tuesday (and potentially facing the reaper lol), but given the winds forecast I'm going to guess that it's not going to be running then !!
I’m no expert but I would assume the ride stops because the computer that controls the ride because it has detected a fault somewhere so stops the ride to prevent injury to both the ride and its passengers. I also think because of the rides location and its exposure to the elements, maybe the elements play havoc with the sensors triggering false alarms. Could be one of a billion things but all in all, it’s still in good condition and has plenty more life in it! It could also be a software fault
The safety system does what it’s designed to do and stops the ride if it’s reading a fault that could cause issues. A short lift stop or evac is better than a collision.
I think some people just like to have a moan about anything to do with Blackpool, never mind the Pleasure beach. As you've pointed out, the ride is 30 years old, and located in an area known for some unpredictable weather. I agree that it probably needs a new computerised system to be implemented to help minimise any unexpected stoppages. I, like you, am very disappointed that there's been no mention of anything to celebrate its birthday. My guess is that Amanda will wait until the last minute, announce something, then get all indignant when it's not a success.
I love the big one but I don’t think the stoppages are the issue I think it’s the fact you could go pleasure beach 10 weeks in a row and it would only be open once due to weather or some other reason.
@@yourexperienceguide it’s definitely an exaggeration but you understand my point the first three times I went Blackpool pleasure beach it wasn’t open it took 4 attempts. And that was spaced out over 2 years.
I can only tolerate heights when something is constantly moving. The idea of this breaking down mid ride and then having to walk down is therefore a complete non starter for me. I'd have to just sit in the train until they fixed it, even if that took days.
Rode it a Fortnite ago . Took my oldest who is 10 on it for first time. He loved it and says it’s his favourite coaster ….. still a classic…. Yeh a little bumpy at times but not too bad
Hygate is bloody good on camera, isn’t he? They could get him to do the sort of video you suggest, Scott! Again it’s basic marketing and PR coming together! BPB is pretty bad a communications - and it’s an area that wouldn’t need much investment to turn it round. 🤔
Strange that wheel checks are done with guests on board. For Alton Towers ops when i did them we would send empty trains to be stopped on the lift or on the brakes. Why ruin the ride experience deliberately?
It’s how they’ve always done it, and sending a train empty on the Big One would likely mean it’d need to be fully sandbagged which adds more waiting time for everyone.
@@yourexperienceguide interesting, and to think of how many empty trains we'd dispatch on Neme or Air simply to get rid of the vomit, or to quickly get the train in for offloading that'd been out in the waiting area for ages. Obviously not an option on Big One then. The truth is though any stoppages grab attention. Air had a habit of stopping a train the top of the lift as the brakes were too slow to clear for a time. AT and B&M spent months trying to resolve that. It always caused a stir whenever it happened.
I love seeing things like this happen at the park health and safety is obviously gonna be park nunnee 1 priority at least they are looking after the big one
New track feels different but OK too me. I miss the smoothness on the sweeping helix return where it's like picking one of those supermarket trolleys with wheels that don't turn together! . Compare that to the return section on the Vekoma Millennium as it passes the twist at Fantasy Island ( Scott has just done a vlog on this) which I think is the most exhilarating finish of any steel coaster in UK imo . I know that section of TBO has not been prioritised due to lower wear characteristics but will be a big improvement to overall idea experience when it's done 👍
Is it because of hyperia taking the uk record why there is no 30th anniversary . All the attention has been on nemesis reborn this year and its like the big one has been forgotten.
Great video Scott very informative 👍🏻 it’s always been a little unreliable mid 90’s as well. The most iconic coaster still in the U.K. it will always be. The tallest and fastest and steepest rollercoaster in the world when it opened. I remember it running on 3 trains when you paid cash or tickets to get on. Huge queues, electric atmosphere especially at night or early hours amazing I will never forget it. I remember when it just opened and it had a crash, it shut for a few months. We would ask JR or members of staff if it was going to open later and they used to say maybe. It never did and imagine that happening now with all the Karen’s moaning on social media. They need a JR again, he would have told the media 😂
Hi Scott m8.I’ve couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve rode the big one,I’ve been on it when it’s broke down on various bits of the track,Been on it when it’s ran perfectly fine all day,To me,And it’s just my opinion,There’s something not quite right with it just now,I can’t really put my finger on it,But know how you get that feeling??Thats me just now,Great video again m8👍👍
It’s actually quite sad how the press give Pleasure Beach so much stick for the Big One stopping on the lift hill, and people having to be walked down. I’ve been stuck on the lift many times, and had to be e-vaced numerous times too. But you know what, I don’t care. It’s a belting experience 😂
Agree with this. The last third of the ride is brutal now; incredibly jerky and nowhere near as smooth as it used to be. Still not as bad as the Grand National though, I always walk off that one with a headache for the rest of the day.
I agree with videos the park could make. The Francis Jackson one years ago was great so it’d be cool to shush the ridiculous rumours of it being unsafe with an official video
If you want old Scott look at the 100 year old big dipper. And speaking of the old channel I clicked this video thinking I’m sure he’s from pleasure beach experience. I thought so. Didn’t throw me off the scent. Hyperia is now the tallest in the uk.
@@yourexperienceguide So I noticed. For once I must say I agree with you about the big one being reported on by the media for cough “breaking down” cough. Anybody starts telling me about how the big one kept breaking down constantly especially at certain times like you say I say no I doubt it broke down, I’m no expert but I’d bet they were checking the wheels since it’s been running for a good number of hours but often they argue that no it broke down blah blah blah.
Not much you can do about how people react to the block checks As for the wheel checks, I think it would help if they were performed without guests aboard any of the trains. Leaving a loaded train 50ft up a lift hill only adds fuel to the fire with these sensationalist articles, the publications would care less if the train was clear of guests as they can't throw around the "guests stranded" line and whatnot. Plus, the ride being checked by maintenance in operating hours could rub guests aboard the ride the wrong way, no matter what the staff tell them there and then. I totally understand how one could perceive this to be very sketchy. It's also just a bit of a needless inconvenience to the people onboard, especially if they haven't been warned prior that these checks will delay how soon they are able to leave the ride
I have a question I’ve always wondered what are them wheels in your background are they rollercoaster wheels and if they are, from what ride ? :Edit oh it’s a big one wheel
I wonder if a similar thing will happen when Hyperia opens. Its the big new and tallest coaster and i can just see the media constantly attacking it. You never see it with 'smaller' coasters at towers or bpb, its always the record breakers every time. I wonder if the clickbait big one titles will end when hyperia opens
What has to be remembered is anyone watching your video Now is likely to be an enthusiast with a high-level of interest in what is effectively engineering. A huge amount of people the mainstream media target are thick , You only have to look at the awful interview Kay burley did with nick varney just a day after the smiler incident, she asked him “ is it being demolished now? “ yes let’s take down a piece of machinery so we never learn what went wrong. sadly a huge amount of people in this country only understand things work, they don’t know how they work.
I personally can’t stand the big one. It is so rough it is unbearable to ride. If it was smooth it would be a great ride but my body is in bits when riding it it’s just not worth it.
It is unreliable it takes the mick to be honest with you been most days it’s been open and the big one is being an absolute nightmare this year it’s terrible. It’s a shame though because It is a great rollercoaster
The Reach group of sites, which are the click bait of click bait sites and littered with "adverts". The Pleasure Beach needs to sue these outlets for liable (misinformation). Having replied to these outlets attempting to correct the record (and received a torrent of abusive responses from stupid people) they know what they're doing, so liable suit would be pretty easy win (and bring in some much needed funds as it would bring in millions for the "resort")
total clickbait this stuff (not your video), big one broken down- just testing or its just the ride working as intended. Maybe we are classed as geeks because we know about block breaks, testing etc etc, but today, with the internet, you can easily educate yourself about how these rides work nowadays. Surely anyone who would "like" to ride but is too scared about safety would just look up all the readily available information about them. I was there on easter weekend, sat late night riding. The ride was closed the previous day due to really bad weather and was closed most of the Saturday, think it opened at 3pm, but boy those engineers were all over that ride the whole day, they basically spent the entire day trying to get that ride going for night time and a busy day for the park. they could have easily gave up and just went na, we cant do this today, to much resource etc, but they didnt. And boy did i enjoy it several times inc at night because they did that....
When I seen the thumbnail I thought.... O please not again more Rubbish.. But then I noticed who it was by so I thought at last, facts for the Numptys that need telling.. I wasn't wrong, shame it was needed but....
Be nice if they removed it and perhaps built a new coaster following a similar footprint to it, but with much more modern profiling and actually forceful elements 💀 everything after the first drop is just sad.
Really disappointed to hear that you've been copyright striking smaller creators. Fair use is an important concept that upholds and advances creativity in our community. A fully grown man trying to get a young lads small channel taken down is a horrible look for you. You'll probably delete this comment, just like you remove anything you don't like.

I did not put the time and effort into it for others to freely use content that doesn’t belong to them. You can’t just walk into a shop and “take” something, and you can’t just come on RUclips and take somebody’s work. It’s not my responsibility to build someone’s else’s channel for them. Sorry.
Fair use doesn’t apply in this case when it’s lifting copyright content for personal gain. Fair use permissions haven’t been stated so it’s essentially just stealing. YT gives you 3 strikes before they remove your channel so if someone (of any age) doesn’t learn their lesson after three times then they’ll face the consequences. I’m all for sharing others content but you can’t just steal it, you need to ask permission beforehand and go about it the right way because money, earnings impact, time and effort taken into account to create the content for someone to then just lift it with zero effort involved and expect zero consequence is naive
Fair use? Don’t think that can be an argument at all, Scott puts a lot of time and money into producing videos so if someone decides to take it without asking then he has every right to say something. It doesn’t matter how old the person is they should know that stealing isn’t right, it’s a three strike system so there is time to learn, if they end up with three strikes then I don’t think Scott can be blamed for someone thinking they are above the rules
We can argue about the ins and outs of the copyright system all we like, but the thing I'm concerned about is that I really like all of your channels; it makes me upset seeing creators essentially trying to ruin each other rather than having adult discourse and coming to a resolution. It's funny how you all mention the 3 strike system, because the channel I am referring to received 3 claims on the same day, almost as if you were trying to specifically exploit the system to get the channel taken down. I have no doubt that you put lots of effort into your content and I appreciate that, but I think that you could've handled this better that's all.
@@jaydereecegriffin If someone has used my videos in 1/2/3/4/5 or more uploads, they’ll all get a copyright strike against them on the grounds that they’ve been taken without consent, and it’s basically theft. Permission hasn’t been requested never mind given, so I’m sorry but it’ll always be the same outcome whether a channel has 5 subs or 50k subs. Just ask the famous comedian who thought stealing our POVs was acceptable but now has copyright strikes on his channel 🤷🏻♂️

Thank you 😊
I'd be so pleased if Big One stopped at the top of the lift hill when I'm on it (as long as I had a coat on).
I've had stops on Big Dipper and Valhalla up to now.
Big Dipper stops are quite regular too
Big dipper has stopped the last 2 times I've been on it 😅
Thank you so much Scott thought this was a great knowledgeable insight into what many perceive as issues.
Let’s hope they do something 🤞🏼
we were stopped about 2/3rds of the way up because someone wasn't wearing their shoes. shows how good they are at spotting stuff like that
I'm going to pleasure beach on Saturday however, high winds are forecasted. So this obviously means the big one won't be open but, will it affect any other major rides such as Icon?
Completely depends on wind speeds, gusts and direction of the wind on the day
I went for the first time the other day and managed to go on the big one twice one in the day and one at night.
I’ve honestly never had that issue
Chloe_tricks i doubt you did
Chloe_tricks your telling Tricks
Very good video Scott Thank you. Didn't know anything about various wheel types used on Big One so learnt something new. I have never done Big One personally but would do it in a heartbeat for sure. I'm sure as you mentioned there are so many talented people working on this ride 24 hours a day. Got to do it.
Thank you 🙏
I have always wondered! Now that you've explained it, it makes perfect sense!
Hopefully it was an informative video 🤞🏼
Everytime I have been on the big one I have never had a problem with it great ride experience
awesome funko pops there!, i just recently found your channel, love watching the rollercoasters and informative videos. also i have never been on a coaster ever as im terrified of heights, but you bring us some of the best views and experiences so thank you!
Thank you 🙏 Funko pops are too addictive 😆
Thanks for the education Scott. I was only chatting with family yesterday and I mentioned acc to what I've read the Big One's been playing up apparently.. There it is, I'm a little wiser and thanks for another great video.
Thank you, enjoyed filming this one 😎
Extremely well put video may I add, well done that man!! 👍🙂
Not a ride tech by any degree, but as a past contracting engineer working proudly at the pleasure beach, both in and out of season, it gave me a prime view of the Big One all year round.
She won't come out. Too busy counting her money.
I’d like to see someone more professional on camera doing it, someone that could comfortably talk about it because they know what they’re talking about
Love this Scott. Absolutely hate the click bait too. Love the big one!
Thank you 🙏
Some really insightful information here Scott - enjoyed the video
Thank you 🙏
This was a really interesting video, would love to see more like this!
Really interesting, that was new information to me! What do you think Pleasure Beach would do when the Big One does eventually need to be removed. Do you think they should rebuild it like Nemesis Reborn but with a modern manufacturer?
They’ve already been retracking sections of it every winter, it’ll probably not be removed for a long time
This is really interesting, Scott.

Interesting thanks for sharing and may i ask u as i couldnt find any info on it how much do u pay for a wheel of the big one ££
They’re like £200+ now, but I got mine before retail got greedy 😆
Hey Scott - great video again. Quick q though why isn’t the wheel check done as part of morning testing rather than when there’s riders on?
Hi, it’s still done during park opening hours too. I put a few clips of it in the video.
I’ve never heard of it automatically stopping itself on the lift due to high winds.
I must admit I wouldn't go on it. I wouldn't want to walk down from the top 😢
You're defo my favourite theme park RUclipsr! Keep at it mate I live it ❤️👍
I know what you mean with the clickbait. Do you remember when coral island had a small fire in the sign outside. The fire brigade were there within 5 mins and it was out within 10. The only damage was the skull and a bit of water in that entrance. Yet the press reports had the headlines " massive blaze rips through Blackpool arcade"
It’s frustrating
Very well made video Scott well explained and understandable for everyone
Thank you 😊
Enjoyed geeking out with you, Scott. Nice one 👍
It was good to be geeky and on a BPB defensive
@@yourexperienceguide Aye, I get it. Point well made 👌
the big one use to run 3 trains till 2000 i know its only a year out but the change happend after the station brake failure in 2000 but awesome video.
It wasn’t a station brake failure, it was a block brake override that lead to one train colliding with the one in the station.
It ran on one train in 2001 and two trains onwards in 2002.
@yourexperienceguide thats what Google said when I looked up the big one stats a year ago

We’ve covered the retracking work every winter

Informative thank you
Thank you 🙏
I have seen them changing a wheel whilst in que waiting for the ride
I doubt you saw that. If they were doing anything with the train they’d lift the track in the station, put the train affected down stairs in the maintainance level and they’d do it there.
Going there tomorrow, before I get my cancer scan results on Tuesday (and potentially facing the reaper lol), but given the winds forecast I'm going to guess that it's not going to be running then !!
Best of luck Dave!!
I visit once a year and it does this every single time
I love the big one but I don’t think the stoppages are the issue I think it’s the fact you could go pleasure beach 10 weeks in a row and it would only be open once due to weather or some other reason.
I don’t think that’s anywhere near being a correct stat but thanks for sharing
I’m honestly so surprised they didn’t follow the lead of Towers and close down these stories when they first started. It’s gone too far now.
I love the Big One but why has it got so much rougher even on the new track?
New track feels different but OK too me.
I miss the smoothness on the sweeping helix return where it's like picking one of those supermarket trolleys with wheels that don't turn together! .
Compare that to the return section on the Vekoma Millennium as it passes the twist at Fantasy Island ( Scott has just done a vlog on this) which I think is the most exhilarating finish of any steel coaster in UK imo .
I know that section of TBO has not been prioritised due to lower wear characteristics but will be a big improvement to overall idea experience when it's done 👍
@@andrewbrazier9664I've never been to Fantasy Island but thanks 👍
Needs an update like nemesis in Alton towers bit make it a launch coaster the supports are not strong enough needs new style
Is it because of hyperia taking the uk record why there is no 30th anniversary . All the attention has been on nemesis reborn this year and its like the big one has been forgotten.
I don’t think so, doesn’t change what the Big One did for BPB and how it’s the biggest draw to Blackpool
Thank you 🙏 A JR type character at BPB would be amazing to see
Hi Scott m8.I’ve couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve rode the big one,I’ve been on it when it’s broke down on various bits of the track,Been on it when it’s ran perfectly fine all day,To me,And it’s just my opinion,There’s something not quite right with it just now,I can’t really put my finger on it,But know how you get that feeling??Thats me just now,Great video again m8👍👍
Hey, it’s definitely having more issues than 5-10 years ago but it’s still overstated and over reported.
It’s an easy click bait story for them sadly
The ride is so uncomfortable.
Went on it 3 times during the easter weekend. Just a bone smasher now
None of my bones have been smashed on it so far thankfully
Agree with this. The last third of the ride is brutal now; incredibly jerky and nowhere near as smooth as it used to be. Still not as bad as the Grand National though, I always walk off that one with a headache for the rest of the day.
Agreed. I'm sure it was great 30 years ago but the amount of people with pure nostalgia goggles for this ride is amusing to me.
We always skip the Big One when we go to Blackpool as being dragged by horses along a wet cobbled street is smoother.
I’ve never tried that so I’m happy to stick with the Big One
I agree with videos the park could make. The Francis Jackson one years ago was great so it’d be cool to shush the ridiculous rumours of it being unsafe with an official video
The stories soon calmed down once Francis had put the record straight
Cant remove big one as although icon is newest coaster big one is signature coaster.
It won’t be removed
If you want old Scott look at the 100 year old big dipper. And speaking of the old channel I clicked this video thinking I’m sure he’s from pleasure beach experience. I thought so. Didn’t throw me off the scent. Hyperia is now the tallest in the uk.
We rebranded in January 2023
@@yourexperienceguide So I noticed. For once I must say I agree with you about the big one being reported on by the media for cough “breaking down” cough. Anybody starts telling me about how the big one kept breaking down constantly especially at certain times like you say I say no I doubt it broke down, I’m no expert but I’d bet they were checking the wheels since it’s been running for a good number of hours but often they argue that no it broke down blah blah blah.
Not much you can do about how people react to the block checks
As for the wheel checks, I think it would help if they were performed without guests aboard any of the trains.
They’ve done the wheel check procedure for most of the coaster’s operating life
Its just deppresed that it isnt the tallest coaster in the UK anymore 😂
Sorry to sound a bit stupid but I’m just curious what is the demag system?
Big One's transfer track
Transfer track, kind of explained it in the video but not as well as I should have done
I was expecting this to begin with an ElToroRyan Block Section speech haha
Keep watching and it’ll get a mention 👀
@@yourexperienceguide"for those of you who are unfamiliar..."
I have a question I’ve always wondered what are them wheels in your background are they rollercoaster wheels and if they are, from what ride ? :Edit oh it’s a big one wheel
The big one on the left is probably of the big one, the wheels that run on top of the rails are usually larger than the side/ up stop wheels! .
There’s 5 from the Big One, 1 from Infusion and 1 from Megafobia
Well said! love this! love the content!

More than likely. The first lift stop and evac will be all over the 6pm news
As long as it's not like the computer system they put on the Grand National.
I don’t think that’ll happen 🤞🏼
Have you seen Hyperion at Energylandia being sponsored by Pepsi now?
They’ve had their funding cut so they’ll need a lot of sponsorship
perhaps it's just testing people to see if they are really scared of heights.
Very interesting
Did you see them park worldwide there yesterday
I was at home yesterday
Theme Park Worldwide weren't actually there. I've just watched their live video and they haven't actually been to Blackpool for a month.
Very good video

Love how you protect the pleasure beach from these journalist who will say anything to critise the park Scott
They’re really bugging me with their inaccuracies
What has to be remembered is anyone watching your video Now is likely to be an enthusiast with a high-level of interest in what is effectively engineering. A huge amount of people the mainstream media target are thick , You only have to look at the awful interview Kay burley did with nick varney just a day after the smiler incident, she asked him “ is it being demolished now? “ yes let’s take down a piece of machinery so we never learn what went wrong. sadly a huge amount of people in this country only understand things work, they don’t know how they work.
I’m hopeful this will be seen by people questioning the safety of it and not just by enthusiasts 🤞🏼
It's because it's go a Union Jack on we isn't allowed us flag flying anymore
It is old and tired and gets fed up lol
A bit like me 😂
Call it UK health and safety gone mad, but like the saying.. better safe than sorry.
Do you think it is related to advertising spend…
How do you mean?
I wonder if 30 years ago the park spent money on advertising in the paper, they reduced or cut the spending and the paper has taken it personally
I personally can’t stand the big one. It is so rough it is unbearable to ride. If it was smooth it would be a great ride but my body is in bits when riding it it’s just not worth it.
I was on it for 25 minutes when its was comeing back into the station
Former Coaster Rider here.
The Big One is one of the worst coasters in the UK, and needs scrapping.
It’ll definitely not be scrapped anytime soon 😊
SoyLatteDraftLeague do not be a foul
Don't forget about the morons that fly drones too close to it, that'll stop it on the lift hill 😣
That never helps things
I’d like to see BPB clap back at it with informative videos on social media
Always see it on the M.E.N. they love an over hyped story for click bait
total clickbait this stuff (not your video), big one broken down- just testing or its just the ride working as intended.
It’ll change nothing but had to get it off my chest
Wats wrong wiv the big 1. It's boring. Struggled 2 stay awake on it wen it opened. Tear it down n get a decent coaster
It won’t be removed
It's very old.... Yes it may be a classic, but its still a classic. Like every other coaster in the park. Just remove it😅 Waste of money
No Big One No Pleasure Beach
What’s a waste of money sorry?
I would Hope they remove it, may be a classic but it’s bloody painful and is really just a glorified gondola
Not a chance
Can tell you've never been on it another keyboard warrior 😂😂😂
Too much spent on retracking to remove
Rode front seat many times last week, running smooth, not painful at all
Even treated myself to the back seat which was so good
Be nice if they removed it and perhaps built a new coaster following a similar footprint to it, but with much more modern profiling and actually forceful elements 💀 everything after the first drop is just sad.
Really disappointed to hear that you've been copyright striking smaller creators. Fair use is an important concept that upholds and advances creativity in our community.
A fully grown man trying to get a young lads small channel taken down is a horrible look for you.

I built this channel by sinking thousands into it on cameras, insurance, travel and many more things.
