Brian Kelly played a lot of freshman in that game. Some of which played big roles. With the class coming in behind these young players, LSU looking pretty solid ahead
I know Nuss is no JD but man he needs to tuck the ball and run it every now and then. There are times where he'll have a complete open field in front of him and he'll try to get the pass off in double coverage or throw it out of bounds.
The red sea parted many times Saturday night and he didn’t take it. That has to be a point of emphasis moving forward and it was my only gripe with him Saturday
LSU has a great offensive line which has dominated in the passing game the past 3 years. The rushing game was Jayden Daniels the past two years. Run blocking is not this O Line strong point.
This game reminded me so much of the '14 Ole Miss game when #3 OM went down to Baton Rouge led by Bo Wallace and walked out of Tiger Stadium with a loss, just looking completely shell-shocked. Ole Miss has GOT to be sanctioned for the embarrassingly obvious faking of injuries. It's gotten completely absurd. Ole Miss - the nation's sack leader - came away with 0 sacks in the game. I like the moxie of LSU. throwing to the end-zone instead of going for first. The two point conversion to win the game against Alabama during Kelly’s first year. That, folks, is Moxie.
Saturdays in the SEC are just plain exciting this year. With few exceptions, almost every game could go either way. I have trouble thinking of a past year that was like this.
The by week hurt Garrett resulting in a 43.1 % completion rate, his worst outing since being named the starter. He was able to persevere and get the win, that’s part of being a champion.
I thought honestly what hurt him was the the game plan and offensive play calls. From what I saw, and I obviously could be wrong but it’s what I saw, the majority of pass plays were verticals with no much of anything underneath. Which left Nuss no real choice of doing anything other than throwing the ball deep. Notice when they were moving the ball it was crossing routes, comeback routes etc. the last 2 being offensive plays being the outliers.
LSU defense is playing better now that they aren't trying to force Harold Perkins into a linebacker role he's not well-suited for...Swinson and Weeks are everywhere and really saving our inexperienced DBs.
lsu wasnt forcing perkins.. he was forcing himself and the coaches put him where he said he wanted to be and it didnt workout.. defensive coordinators wanted him on the edge but he refused
LSU has a fiendish gauntlet to run for the rest of its schedule and if they win all of these games they will probably be in the national championship game.
In any other year (outside of 2007), I'd call you crazy. But we're halfway through the season, and there are still about 50 teams in contention for a playoff spot. If LSU goes 5-1 to finish the season, they're in. And it wouldn't even matter who we lost to.
@@liamk1977 I totally agree with you on this point. And your statement is spot on, as well.
