What a beauty! And thank god you put white handlebartape on like it has to be for an italian superbike! I ride white bartape forever i rather swap it twice a year than using black bar tape.
I have a C68 on order and there certainly won’t be any shitmano components going anywhere near it😆 I’ve waited 30 years to own colnago so its Campagnolo super record for me.
Shimano Ultegra is a great groupset, but for such a noble Italian beast, surely nothing less refined than Campagnolo Super Record would be appropriate?
David. Love your videos. Keep up the good work. That said, a beautiful piece of equipment like a Colnago demands a Campy groupset. I believe it is illegal in most of Italy to put Shimano with such an exquisite frame. That is like buying a Ferrari and then putting a low-speed governor on it.
Wrapping bar tape from the top still feels like madness to me, although it looks great when a pro does it. Also good to see someone else uses the iphone level to get their seat setup 🙂Amazing looking bike although not sure it could ever live up to it's price tag!
Me neither friend, but it must be someones wet dream so it can’t be cheap. We all know iPhone costs around 500 usd to build the rest is premium tax, still wanna bet hows Apple doin? Same eith the Colnago. They are not allowed to build sensible stuff anymore, otherwise they’d shoot their own leg.
I'd say the difference won't be day and night. On same groupsets/wheels. Bear in mind the TCR Advanced Pro is a very very good frame. Yes, the Colnago will be better but not dramatically. Even less will be the difference between the Colnago and the TCR Advanced SL frame. Which IMHO is among the best frames money can buy.
@@LTBlightthebeam They are both road bikes... but they can be pitched at very different audiences: sportive, race, recreational, etc... TCR is a race bike, C68 is a recreational/sportive bike. Also pitched at different financial segments with different needs.
A beautiful Italian hand built Colnago with a cheap horrible groupset, its like a Lada engine in a Ferrari body. Campagnolo SR EPS is the only groupset worthy of the frame. Also I will be waiting for the Rim Brake C68 before I buy
Nice choices David. I'm looking at piecing together a mixed groupset of Ultegra and Dura-Ace 12 speed. I want full Ultegra, but with Dura-Ace brake calipers and the 54/40 chainrings. Still can't seem to find the chainrings, but the Dura-Ace calipers are popping up on ebay from Japan. A bit annoying that everything is still full-groupsets, paired shifters with calipers, and only select components individually. Starting small with an Ultegra 12 cassette, the battery, charging cable, a chain. The derailleurs I can get on their own, shifters as well, it's just the Dura-Ace calipers, chainrings, and Ultegra crankset without rings that I need to source. Gearing and brake performance of Dura-Ace, but the affordability of the Ultegra components... a thinking man's groupset.
What a great looking bike, however Italian bike, surely an Italian group set would have set it apart. Any other frame & I would have said Ultegra all the way ☺
Hi! How is it going the new Ultegra Di2? I have the Addict RC 30 from 2021 and i want to upgrade the Ultegra mechanical that came with the bike. Cheers
Love the choice of groupset! And I had no idea Colnago had threaded bottom brackets as well. I definitely would have trusted myself with that build were I in your position, David! haha :)
What’s the rationale behind the bar wrap direction? I would have thought the downward pressure in the drops would be peeling the bar tape off. Would love to know why these guys do it that way. Great to see someone mount a cassette the right way too, using the white casing. I’ve alway taken that off first.
I would have gone Campag if it were available just to keep things pure Italian, but Ultegra is what I ride, so I really have no relevant reason apart from that! Ultegra is brilliant!
Wish you a lot of fun with that bike! I have just built a Tarmac SL7 with the Ultegra DI2 (only for the cassette I chose Dura Ace) and I am quite stunned by its performance. It is quiet, shifting is fast and precise, brakes work very well without any grinding and I really enjoy the shape of the new STIs. Don't get me wrong: Let people buy whatever they are willing to pay but tbh I have trouble to understand for what reasons people pay so much more money for the new Dura Ace.
Hi David I have also got the shimano ultegra di2 12 speed groupset and i honestly believe it is the best value for money groupset out there i luv it . i have just one question for you could you give the overall wight of the build on a update video clip i know that's not a really important question but it would be great to know p.s. luv your channel and reviews keep up the good work thank you
Tubes ? …. & Why not remove the packing grease from the chain before installation, less messy than afterwards ? The build look pretty sweet, I’m biased towards black n white ;)
Could you make a chrono comparison with the much valuable Giant TCR on your favourite circuit? How do you justify the insane difference of price between these two bikes?
For me TPU offers the same benefits as tubeless but without the mess if a puncture doesn't seal. I also don't want my nice clothes to get sprayed with sealant in the event of a puncture. Tubeless on the gravel bike all day though!
@@kpizzle1985 Thanks, makes sense, I don't really go off road so might give it a try...also I guess the cost of the tubes can then be offset against non tubeless tires.. Caught some of your videos...given a bunch of recent encounters, may start doing the same!
@@shreyasc331 Sealant can be quite pricey too! I'm using Aerothans, put about 8000 miles on them and they've been brilliant. Used a regular Schwalbe glueless patch to repair it which lasted about 18 months 👍 Cheers, got another close pass to upload tomorrow, wasn't that bad but the car hasn't been taxed or MOT'd in over 10 years!
Rear tire mounted with an irregular bulge...top end builder should have spotted that immediately. Remount tire or replace tube/tire and check for smooth, even rotation.
Yup well spotted we didn't fully inflate the tyres during the build we did that after filming finished, including fitting pedals, computer mount and other bits and bobs
PS: ignore all the haters. Campy is stll selling overpriced parts that don't offer the same performance value for money (sad) and Ultregra is the current sweet spot for race-worthy components.
Would have liked to see a Campy groupset, but it looks amazing. A dream bike. Enjoy!
Congrats on a great new bike David, happy riding. Looking forward to the ride review shortly!
Stunning can’t wait for the ride review , I would of gone campo group set & black bar tape but overall it’s a gem of a machine
What a beauty! And thank god you put white handlebartape on like it has to be for an italian superbike! I ride white bartape forever i rather swap it twice a year than using black bar tape.
Bella !! Maybe deserves Dura Ace at that price ,or Super Record.Enjoy your first ride ! That white bar tape will mark quickly even my Celeste does.

Shitmano…come on bro. It‘s ok to like Campa more but Shimano is excellent, you can‘t deny

Shimano Ultegra is a great groupset, but for such a noble Italian beast, surely nothing less refined than Campagnolo Super Record would be appropriate?
Shimano fo life! Looks beautiful
Lovely, but you know us fellow bike nerds need a full spec list please!
Haven't even watched but I really enjoy bike builds, thant David. Cheers.

I’m so jealous but always happy for everyone on new bike day!

Stunning bike. At first I thought no not white bar tape but it works despite the none matching saddle because of the paint scheme. Well done.
Great Bike. Wish you all the best for your first ride 👍👍
I did it myself and it was a PAIN. I get you. I‘ve sworn that for any service on the brakes I‘ll give it to my LBS.
Congratulations on the new bike, enjoy, and come this video for people to see

Bar tape wrap from the top FTW
I actually find it easier! I’m not great at getting the tape to finish perfectly symmetrically, and I dislike electrical tape as a finish 🤣
If I was building a museum piece then I would start from the top. But if you actually ride it, it will fold over and look like crap very quickly.
I start from the top on the right side and the bottom on the left.....just to be annoying....😀
You've got to be joking. Ultegra on a C68?!!
if you have to pay for dura ace, you don’t need dura ace.
@@pennyblue6372 Bad enough to have Shimano on this bike, let alone Ultegra. Should be Campagnolo all day.

Hi David, that's a really special bike, it's got it all. What is the fully built weight?
She's a bute, Clark! Love it. Back in the day I would do that bike justice. Enjoy.
I'll be the jerk who points out that the title says C88 instead of C68.
It did get changed now
Yeah small typo sorry about that
Haters gonna hate!
He’s here from the future to show us the new C88
The world needs Kramers
White bar tape looks amazing! Only trouble is it's White. Cool looking bike. Happy riding
+1 for the super record group but I think the white bar tape looks great with the colourway you've got! Beautiful bike
What a beautiful bike! Groupset looks great on it!
Lucky you getting that so quickly. I had to wait over 6 months for my C64 when they first came out
I would guess empire before Ultegra. Here we are. Looks great!
Great bike! Congratulations!
WOW...thats a work of art...thanks .

Thanks DE Cook. Yup the frame uses the T47 now, it used to be their own Thread Fit system

Love the white handlebar tape - very pro!!
Make sure you keep some disposable gloves in your saddlebag with white bar tape its a must. Nice looking bike though, I would be scared to ride it

It might have no performance gain but the bike deserves Dura ace
I would have put campagnolo super bollox groupset on that Italiano whip.
Looks great, hope you love it: have fun keeping the white tape clean !:)
Very nice bike and good choice with the groupeset
Should’ve gone with Campy groupset and Bora wheels imho
Beautiful bike!
Wicked build. Very nice weapon. Love the reverse wrap. I do it on my bike. Way cleaner. Cannot wait to see the review. Please soon. Lol
Don’t think you should put Ultegra on most expensive frame in the world .
that white handlebar tape looks really good, but will be a nightmare to keep it clean
Amazing bike, very good choice!
Amazing bike 😍
Wonderful frame but a disappointing choice of groupset. Had to be Campagnolo SR EPS!
