Considering the horrors Tenpai has wrought onto the modern metagame using Black Rose as part of their strategy, one does have to ask "At what cost?" I *did* really like the 60-card pile decks from around 2022 though.
Fantastic video! Akiza deserved away better in my opinion, she has such a cool design. It was great seeing a whole challenge video based around her deck. Thanks for putting in the hard work to make something so thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
I have been waiting for people to come up with this concept forever, and I'm glad you're able to implement it! These videos are very interesting to watch. Also, p.s. love that the editor drags you throughout it - also makes the video even more entertaining haha.
Oh right, will you be doing this challenge again in 2009 and 2011? I wanna see how Aki deals with the infamous 4 Clones and the WRGP gauntlets from those respective games.
@@scarletrose8766 All four are always pre-set. The real issue is that you have to beat all four in sequence and your LP carry over (and don’t exceed the base 8000 if you manage to overheal from one to the next).
Gosh for real though this video makes for a wonderful AU where Akiza goes "screw the bench" and flips it, and all Sayer can do is go "What have I done...?" when the lady he trained into a weapon realizes The Arcadia Movement smells, jumps out the window, gets involved in gang wars, and after having a few symbolic battles with herself within her subconscious whenever bad things happen and she wants to default to going full on Black Rose Witch again and gaining a proper motorcyclist license, just goes around with her new friends smacking the crud out of the villains, I.E, definitely him, he's now the architect of his own demise. (and not gonna lie, her and Yusei teaming up to defeat Rex Goodwin sounds very sweet).
A banger video as always. More love for Akiza is needed. This game and 2011 (I hope you do a video for that game sometime) are top tier for yugioh games imo. I love this concept for videos (beating x game with x character's deck)
Fun fact: Jesse Wheeler is not a thing in the Japanese version. It's only a Dub Cameo The original Japanese it's literally just a guy who has a Similar design to Jounounchi/Joey
This is a good option for a challenge I had never considered. Solo Pokémon runs were one thing, as well as numerous KH challenges, but this never occurred to me.
I grew up with the world championship series, And I still very much enjoy them to this day. Whenever I hear the music my brain just gets that neuron activation.
i did something kind of similar to this in 5ds 2009, i used keiths deck from 2007 or smth like that and substitutes the banned cards for dupes of othera
think the turbo duel deck i did the best I could to keep speed spells consistant with the reg spells but the pool for those isnt really that big until 2011
I loved that video ! I might try using a character deck to replay this game again. It's not a hard game, it's pretty beatable with any kind of deck. I once beat it entirely witha weird Rock-Worm mix deck, or even a sort of Nuzlocke deck where I kept changing it with cards from the All-Random pack anytime I gained DP. I'd be glad to see more challenges on this game !
I have played this game dozens of times and I don’t think Greiger has ever once gotten out Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua in a timely manner or even gotten to use it because 9 times out of 10 I destroy it with bottomless trap hole as soon as he summons it
Oh I had an amazing thought that could go great or badly for you: Can you beat Reverse of Arcadia using Misty's deck? I doubt reducing attack to 0 will be a constant way to win, but I would be fun to see you try.
Loved the video! Cant wait to see more challenges like so! Also love the mention to this game being a great edison simulator! Any chance you know how to download the march 2010 banlist on the game? I only have the 2009 list on my file 😂
Thank you! And yeah, regarding the Edison banlist, it was originally a free update for the game back around the time. If you want access to it now, you have two options. First, and this is the easier of the two- import a save file that already has the update unlocked (my recommendation there would be to find one off GameFaqs). The other way would be to make use of fan servers that mimic the DS Download Content service to install the content as you would originally for the system. I'll link a GitHub that has more information on the subject: github.com/barronwaffles/dwc_network_server_emulator/wiki/Nintendo-DS-Download-Content Otherwise, the only other thing worth noting is that while every card in Edison Format is in the game I believe, there's also a few that we did not have until later in the TCG (Infernity Destroyer and Stygian Street Patrol being some small examples). So it won't be 1-to-1 in that regard, but those differences are so minor, it probably doesn't matter all that much.
Given her deck, absolutely. Lonefire Blossom into the 2800 plant monster that negates, black rose dragon. There's a reason why Plant Synchro was prominent around this era.
Happy you enjoyed it! And yeah, if I think I can make videos on the other WC games or the Tag Force series that are worthwhile, I'd love to. The latter might be more tricky, though, given that the gameplay structure is more non-linear.
Wc2010 was my childhood game I’m glad to see it get love Reminded of the first time I beat that Aki duel and how good it felt to have that understanding of the psychic deck. Thought ruler locked out most of her options and magical android healed me back from what I used to activate thought ruler
I always love seeing challenge runs of the old yugioh games, it's just so much fun to see how many different ways you can just play the game Also, IIRC there's a way to make the game stop doing the "do you want to finish checking cards" thing. In world championship mode there should be something in the options menu called "duel settings", if you turn off the "display card details" setting it won't interrupt you every time your opponent does something
Honestly their is my favorite of the world championship games. Tho, I'm very biased towards the 5D's era. Also love Akiza. Very cool character, and very attractive NGL.
Before i hear the entire story imma say its possible sure i made some personal touch to her deck but you can say its a variation of her deck the only difference is that i always give her that one stardust dragon (cause she did use it one time).
Weird that I never played any of this series of games. My 5D’s game was Tag Force 4 on the PSP. Been replaying it in hopes of playing 5 after eventually
Ayy, Tag Force 4 was a game I sunk a lot of time into as well! I really enjoyed the sort of chill vibe it had outside of the duels themself. Just took forever to make story progress in it. lol
I really wish more Yugioh videogames would come out that allows making a custom player character, and gives you a gender choice. Sadly, Konami doesn't seem to be into that, as they haven't done that in a long time. Legacy of the Duelist only gave you profile pictures for PvP while in the "story mode", you play as various characters from the anime. That Rush duel game that's on Nintendo Switch (I forget the exact name of that videogame), only gave you a self-insert protag with a boring "special" power of "spirit", that I'm pretty sure wasn't in Sevens (even though I did not watch it) with zero origin story (unlike this 5Ds game, where the custom player character at least had a sort of "origin" of being part of the psychic duelist-filled organization Akiza comes from), and that the self-insert protag pretty much gets all the favoring in the game, plus, you HAVE to play as a guy (unlike this game, where there's a female gender option), and that the fact he is too favored in the story that in the game is pretty much made to center around the self-insert protag while forcing the other characters onto the sidelines with little importance, while using player icons of characters in the game for PvP identification as a player. Duel Links does almost exactly what Legacy of the Duelist did, having you play as characters from the anime while tied their respective storylines from the anime, while making slight changes from the anime's version of the story (Joey being the one suffering the penalty from losing a duel with the Oricalcos spell card in play, instead of regular Yugi sacrificing himself to be taken instead of Yami Yugi. For example) while cutting out all the story from filler episodes. And Master Duel has no story, and no protagonist, nor story centered around any duelist characters. It instead has many small stories centered around monster cards from various archetypes of the card game. For those who don't know what I've had an issue with in self-insert protags in a certain unrelated game, I have a general distaste for self-insert protags with no written individuality. And with Konami being focused on supplying new content to Duel Links and Master Duel when it comes to Yugioh, while I appreciate them not abandoning those games and adding new cards and content, I hate that because of them being so focused on those free to play games (to the point DLC has been abandoned in that Rush Duel game I mentioned, leaving the DLC button ingame completely useless and locked), we likely will not see a new Yugioh game after all this, unless Konami changes their mind on things related to Yugioh games. Which sucks, because the Yugioh games, I liked when they released, that I'd have a full on main story to go through, and not have to use freemium currency to get most cards. And didn't need to do microtransactons to get a quick significant lead against other players when trying to get the cards you need to win. I miss these "world championship" series games. Apologies for my rant-ish comment here, I'm just pained we don't get Yugioh games like this one anymore, and really haven't got one with a custom self-insert protag with gender choice after maybe this 5Ds one. This "defaulting to only male protag" with zero customization of the player character, is one of things I hate about many games. We're not in the retro era anymore, where female protags used to be unheard of. Shin Megami Tensei (including Persona) is one of the biggest offenders of this game-related trope of defaulting to male protags, despite being one of the franchises I also love. Again, sorry for the rant, I just have a love/hate relationship to games and their devs' choices when making them. Out of respect for you, I formatted this comment to not be a single overwhelming paragraph that is essay length. I'll go back to watching this video
it always baffles me that people single out 5ds as being the dark one as if this series wasn't already about people gambling their life and soul in a very very literal way. 5ds just gave people motorbikes and tattoos. honestly i'd say it's less dark because there are significantly less people being burnt to death, even in the manga.
I'll admit it's been a while since i watched 5ds, but akiza needs the most redemption? Really? Are we not gonna talk about leo and his 1 WIN throughout the entire story? Or how Crow basically replaced him as the 5th signer for most of the series?
I'd wager Leo at least had positive character growth ending out the series. Meanwhile, the final duel with Akiza in the show had her carried to victory by Crow (gotta love Blackwings, right? The writers sure did. lol). That said, I wouldn't disagree that he probably deserved to win a bit more. Who knows- -maybe Morphtronics could be due to be taken for a spin at some point. (:
Leo had more than 1 win. He had 3....granted one of those was Luna taking over the duel with Devack and the other one was 3v1 with Jack and Luna vs Aporia but still.
Both twins deserved better because Luna has no solo wins (though being able to force a draw is also an impressive feat) and still doesn't have an actual archetype associated with her (prob because Ancient Fairy Dragon was banned for years).
"Good, I win!" Akiza upon defeating Rex 'Good Win'. Inspiring stuff
Akiza at least gets the last laugh in the end. Seeing as the Rose archetype continues to be usable all the way to modern day.
Considering the horrors Tenpai has wrought onto the modern metagame using Black Rose as part of their strategy, one does have to ask "At what cost?"
I *did* really like the 60-card pile decks from around 2022 though.
Welcome back everyone! Hope you enjoyed the editing on this, it was fun getting to insult my boss.
My driving wasn't *thaaaaat* bad.
as an editor myself, i absolutely love what u did

Rerverse of Arcadia was my JAM back in the day. I was SO sad the day that my copy went missing. At least I still have Over the Nexus
Would love to see more of this with Leo's deck

what a fantastic video-idea, hope to see more like this in the future!
