    What a great mentality ken has had for so long. He said he listened to it the first time and didn’t get it and it was really weird, so his first instinct was to do research because he knew “one listen isn’t enough for something that’s different” and it’s insane how many people don’t have that

    damn, didn't know Ken was into avant-garde jazz like Ayler and Dolphy. have new found respect for him.

    This is probably one of the best videos you guys have done. I thought each person explained their position well and, more importantly, clearly. Then, the conclusion at the end sorted everything out even further and left me with a clear view of what you guys thought of the album. but when c-town said he didn't smoke weed, i think i had like an arrhythmia or some shit ahah out of pure astonishment. how does mike c-town not smoke weed?!

    Nice review guys. I listened to it and expected that type of sound and it delivered, one of my top albums of the year so far. The lyrics weren't on the level of the production, but it did the job and fitted perfectly with the instrumentals, Butterfly's voice tied good with them, too. Overall he did good. And yeah Kinge picks some weird times to listen to albums, this and the Canibus one, lol.

    I don’t know HOW I never saw this, I saw fantano review it a million times the year it dropped, I listened to it a million times I really don’t know how this wouldn’t of come up in my recommendations I could’ve sworn I was watching DEHH at this time maybe I started more consistently in 2012? Because I know the first video I ever saw was their Section 80 review, but I think it probably took a little longer before I really started consistently keeping up with them. Either way I love this album I’m hyped to see this review

    • @byHexted
      @byHexted 2 года назад

      Also I really hate this, but I first heard this album back in high school and I remember I had heard it was super cool and spacey so I got really high at lunch and I remember we were watching some shitty movie in class and I was just listening to the album. But this was way back when I actually would get high, I don’t have those kind of experiences anymore but I just remember this album really blowing my mind I mean it still does sober, and now I have a better knowledge of avant garde hip hop and hip hop in general so I understand what’s going on and why I like it, but I didn’t back then. I just remember the first two tracks totally mesmerizing me I remember just listening to this album on repeat that entire day. It was one of those albums where I don’t even know why but I’d just want to hear it again. The rapper also has a thing a lot of my favorite rappers have, where they might get dismissed by some like logic or j Cole stan Bc his voice and the slang he’ll use can come off like something those fans wouldn’t think is “conscious” but when you actually pay attention to what he’s saying it’s wayyyyy deeper and better written then those guys like he actually gives a realistic personality filled view of the hood from the inside, and then he used his knowledge and experience with that to make unique observations. He’s not doing any bullshit about mumble rappers, he’s not doing boring lazy trap shit, but he’s also definitely not rapping traditionally. But he doesn’t have to I think it’s good he was in a more standard hip hop group in the 90s because if anyone thinks “this guy is weird he can’t even flow normally” he’s already proven he can

    100% on point with everything I liked and disliked about the album. Initially I didn't get it, I was more prepared for rhyme oriented hip hop, but on my second time through I thought of it more as an instrumental album much like a darker Clams Casino. The lyrics added another rhythm to the beat, but also a texture that made it easier to listen too. After my experimental side got familiar with the beats, I started digging the rhymes.
    WOW. You guys are the best music reviewers on RUclips.

    The record label definitive jux lead by El-P the reason why he mentions them is because of there different approach to hip-hop with having a experimental old school hip-hop meets electronica type production to and mostly a different take on hip-hop throughout the whole label.

    @encdee Yeah, on first listen it was a little off-putting. But the second the beat for Collude/Intrude came in, I lost it. That album was so important to me. It totally changed the way a lot of people saw how hip hop could be made. From a rhyme standpoint and from a production standpoint. "The independent representation of what MCs can and should be. Judge prosecution defendant and jury." Yeah, man, I don't think anything is really touching that album when it comes to originality.

    A good artist that use this music is Acid Reign, K-The-I???, Cadence Weapon, Radioinactive, and other artist who uses music in a weird and distort way and I love it all the way it's hip hop I like to called acid hop or space hop to me cause it seem to be influence of how future music will sound like and it's only cool if we listen to that kind of music now and get it over with cause it seem to be the next best thing and I want it to be too lol

    @smokyp3nguin No, but do you see how ignorant it is to jump to conclusions? Feefo and I have had numerous discussions on and off camera about "riding music." (Look at the other shows.) Feefo was saying how there are some albums he just can't listen to in his car (usually underground esoteric hip hop). I was simply saying that this IS an album that I can happily listen to in my car, but I can understand how it wouldn't be for him. How you got condescending from that is beyond me.

I went in open minded but I wasn’t NOT expecting “traditional hip hop” like he raps more traditionally then myke is acting. Naw and when you say “I didn’t think YOU GUYS were gonna like it” and then say why, it kind of is expected that they’re gonna respond to that lmao like they kind of have to, otherwise they just let you say what they think and it’s inaccurate, beezy didn’t think what you said so it was worth interrupting
