The sun was beginning to set as Sarabi and I waited for the return of Mufasa and Simba. Now, I was pacing back and forth as my patience grew thin. Me: They have been gone for too long. I'm gonna go check on them. Sarabi: Alright, just be careful! Me: I will! And with that, I set off in search of the boys. I managed to pick up their scent and follow it to a gorge. This place brings back some really bad memories. Once I reached the bottom, I noticed the floor was littered with wildebeest hoofprints. Now, I seriously hope the same scenario didn't happened to them. I kept searching until I saw a horrifying sight: Mufasa's body laying limp near a broken tree. At this point, I didn't just see a dead lion, I saw a white indoraptor in the same position; my mother. I quickly ran to him and placed my paw on his neck, checking for a pulse, but there was nothing. With that realisation, I bowed my head sadly and silently payed my respects. I hope he finds peace among the great kings. As I opened my eyes, I saw a set of lion cub pawprints: he managed to save Simba. Then, I found another set of pawprints: Scar's. Whatever he did to Simba made him run away. What's more, I spotted more sets of pawprints that made my blood run cold: Hyenas. They seem to be following- No, chasing after Simba. I then followed the tracks and came upon a cliff edge. I couldn't smell any traces of blood so he must've escaped. I looked on into the horizon. Me: Good luck, little brother. I turned around and head back to Pride Rock. When I returned, Sarabi, Sarafina, Nala, Zazu and the rest of the pride came to me with a worried expression. Sarabi: Sam, what happened? I sighed and told them the hard truth. Me: They're not coming back. There was a collective gasp among the pride. Sarabi didn't want to believe it. Sarabi: It's not true. Tell me it's not true! Me: I hate to say this, but it's true. I got up on a rock and gave a speech. Me: Mufasa's death is a terrible tragedy for all of us. For he was not just a king: he was a friend, a brother, a husband and a father. The lionesses lowered their heads in grief as Zazu put his wing on Sarabi's paw. Nala rubbed her mother's leg, crying from losing her best friend. Me: With Simba's fate still unknown, I'm afraid the Pridelands will enter dark times in the moons to come. I then hear a voice from behind me. ???: That is why I shall assure the throne. I looked behind me and, to no surprise, it was Scar. What caught me off guard were the hyenas who were surrounding me and the pride. Scar: And, out of the ashes of this tragedy, we shall rise and greet the dawning of a new era. He began climbing Pride Rock as he continued his speech. Scar: In which lion and hyena come together in our great and glorious future. There is nothing "great and glorious" about this. I may be able to kill Scar, but, if do so, I won't be able to become King and the Pridelands will fall into further chaos. I just hope we can survive long enough for help to arrive.
