Iv always had mps there Solid if you don't abuse them and price well what other pump is same so I guess price doesn't matter. And it works with GHL = winning
But they keep on rusting. They say to have a spare dry side. This adds massively to the cost. Their quality has gone down over the years. I use the Nero 5. Ecotech and ai are the same company
@steveg8675 never had one rust, iv had little Washer go. Having on GHL to slow down on feed do other time events pretty cool. I'm sure you could do with AI
Sold mine got tired of one dropping everytime I put it feedmode bought ai Nero 7 ain’t looked back now I got the new ai orbit wave maker I don’t hear any noise at all, sometimes I check it’s actually on lol
Red Sea need to work on sealing their tanks, their gen 2 tanks were supposed to have sorted that issue out, yet tanks are still blowing, this costs hobbyists/reefers a lot of money, this subject always gets avoided when manufacturer comparisons are being made!
@@rolisreefranch Sure, but China produces to the exact spec and quality, for the appropriate price. You can go to China and ask for a well made, say, cube tank. Pay a little extra and you get 45 deg cut low iron white glass, pay low and you get a 90 deg cut tank with cheap silicone and frilled out seams using cheap window glass.
I just wanted to take a second to say that you have become one of my favorite sources for reefing information. I particularly enjoy these shorter and more informal videos. I'm chuffed I found this second channel!
I’m in the US and don’t forget that Reef Factory’s prices are high as well. I’m comparison to other products. They’re a newer company as well. Still needs to be tested throughout.
I agree with you. I’ve had some expensive equipment that fails pretty quickly (apex) and some cheap equipment (Jebao) that’s still going strong after 4 years. Really cool videos. I keep up the good work!
I recently bought an mp40 and love it the mobius app is great! I had bought two reef wave 45’s originally over three years ago because they were cheaper. and I had no end of trouble with them probably paid more repairing them than what I would have buying mp40’s I would be very wary buying any Red Sea products now.
I really like the idea of the Red Sea auto leveling skimmer, because skimmers are a pain to tune. However the Reef Octopus once you get it tuned is a beast. I also have a Bubble Magus MiniQ on my nano tank that’s great. I really like the AI lights and Nero wave makers, but I’ve had some issues with the blade on my wife’s planted tank. Each company has their strengths I think.
I agree with everything you said here with the exception of reef factory because it’s impossible to get in Canada, I don’t understand GHL, software should be the easiest thing to fix and everyone complains about it
I have 3 MP40QDs and I''m replacing them w/Nero 7s. Better flow pattern, more powerful, and they don't fall off, besides less expensive. Best new product of 2023 IMO.
Ecotech also “upgrades” the price, even on their older products like mp series. Then they release the Nero and will not include all of the wave modes because you didn’t pay for the “upgrade”🤬
@@kalamazoo_reefer It's not intuitive by any stretch of the imagination, but if you have some experience with the app it's very functional. Works for sure
@@kalamazoo_reefer I had issues with them a year or so back when the programming didnt seem to take. But recently it has been no issues what so ever. I am currently running all of my flow pumps through the app.
Only equipment I’ve had problems with is the AI blades. I own a bunch of Red Sea stuff. Tank, doser, and roller all Red Sea. The motor went out on my reef mat, but honestly that was likely my fault from not changing the roll in time.
I have changed out all of my ecotech gear. Got sick and tired of replacing the MP10 wetsides every six months or so. Infact the last wetside did not last one day. I did not even try and get a replacement for this but it did focus my mind to get these poorly engineered products out of my marine tank. Similar issues with the Vectra not lasting even one year. Replaced by a far cheaper TMC pump that is also much quieter. I even ditched the Radions with the Mobius app being probably the poorest software I have ever seen with all equipment repeatedly dropping connection. Anyway, all the Ecotech kit is now just waiting to go to the dump and I feel much happier. Ecotech has been the most expensive reefing mistake that i have ever made. I got sucked into all of the hype. Poor quality at premium prices in my opinion.
Hi, all who here uses REEF FACTORY ? I have their light ( flare pro blue L ) and doser x4 and x3 The lights could do with a bit more schedules but otherwise good products some way more overpriced.
O am Sorry but GHL is just crap. I had thousands worth of their equipment for years and it was an absolute pain to use, not to mention poor build quality. They look and feel solid, but the dosing pumps keep needing to be replaced, the fans die out, etc. the software is ridiculous, the user interface awe full and the internet connection is off more often than on. Useless.

£400 for a mp40 is absolutely criminal. Hate how ecotech have turned into such a rip off company.
£420...

Still made in the same Chinese factories.

What brand is your fish tank in the background? I’m looking for something similar
It's a Cade S2 Nano
Thanks, is that a 125 gallon tank? Or what model
We need a tank update, please 🙏🏾
Great video Alex .. But I bought a Jecod ECP-120M and I can set different modes in different times of the day ...
To their credit, Jecod regularly make small upgrades like that!

The redsea doser does the same as ghl with speed selection
D d customer service is great. They supply all the parts for their equipment.
For some reason, I thought he was gonna say all of these brands have the same manufacture
Imagine!
Favorite kit of 2023 is the ITC par wise....great value and quality plus ease of use....all the youtubers overlooking this thing... it's BFA
I don't think YTs are overlooking it as such, ITC just haven't sent any out for review. Sounds like a good bit of kit though
Generally, I've had much better luck with cheaper, 'generic' gear than the big boy brand name stuff
Great vid. Very interesting.

What mode?
The M and A lines (2022 and 2023) of the jebao/jecod pumps both support app control and scheduling.
Do the apps actually work?

GHL has good hardware, software is livable but service in Europe is the worst in the business. So much money down the drain.

Red sea quality is awful. Their tanks keep blowing and leaking. Their equipment keep breaking down and their customer service is bad. I

Calling Apple innovative is so far from the truth. If Red Sea does what Apple did to the industry the whole hobby would be screwed.
Lol - it’s hilarious that the one negative comment here is a guy getting mad about Apple, a non-reefing company.

You should add "in your opinion" in some of your comments. A few of your statements come across as facts when they are just opinions.

What if you don't know you don't like it until you've bought it?
