Its hard with lil baby type beats, because baby could rap on anything, but the rapper that will actually buy the beat most likely cant

The same principles still apply tho. You wanna have a melody that you can switch up, the beat has to have space, and the beat shouldn’t be boring.
You want to make the beat simple but not generic and add your own stuff on it. Not talking about you but in general lil baby type beats have little variation

If u listen to that beat, there’s really only 1 or 2 main melodies playing at one time. The drums are just complex so it seems like a lot goin on. That’s the key. To make it sound interesting but still have enough space for the artist to flow. Good song to point out!

@@kiamrichardson4458 it’s more so about there being space for the artist. You just want to make sure you’re melodies aren’t too overpowering and there’s space for the artist to flow.

bet it would sound less clustered if you put the bpm lower. I personally run around 90 bpm give or take 10 bpm because its easier for me to speed it up in either the playlist or in a piano roll. I would love to know how to slow it down outside of changing the bpm and not stretching the channels.
also why is your master volume bottoming out is that intentional or mostly fl lagging? a lower bpm could help that too just a last minute thought.

what did he change at 1:34 ?
He changed the buffer length because fl studio was crackling a bit when he was playing the sounds altogether. You have to adjust your buffer length once the cpu starts going crazy or you can also just turn the sounds to wav files.

As a bass player and drummer....I can honestly say that they are the glue, if they are not in sync...the beat is going to be trash.
