kovas has always been pure class, he was Chelsea's player of the year during Lampard's first season... but, because he doesn't score and assist often, fans tend to underrate him. He is right up there with Kante in my book, of coarse different in what they do but still absolute class... i will say this, try and find a player that has more composure with the ball than Kovasic... you will not find a single one in the PL ( i don't often watch other leagues so i can't say in Europe lol)... next time you watch a Chelsea game, just pay attention to him...it's as if he is immune to pressing lol

Chelsea needs their midfielders to improve their passes in the final third, the match against Liverpool highlighted this issue, even before Tuchel came along, Chelsea were good from the build up play but had no clinical midfielders who could do the job, Jorgi, Mason and Kova always looked unsure in the final third and we're still seeing shades of this under Tuchel, we should be banging in 3+ goals every game with the amount of times we go up the field.
@@Me-pr1kh Mason is pretty clinical, in fact, our wins against big teams last season came from Mount and Havertz link with Werner's space openings. The biggest highlight was of course UCL against City. It's always Jorgi and Kova that kept slowing the gameplay by holding ball for too long. Though, with that being said, Mount knew he's clinical hence being a little bit greedy lately. Havertz is consistent with his selfless play, hence why he keep being in the team almost every game.
@@RL- Kova can pass, almost as good as Jorginho although nowhere near Prime Cesc. Problem is he preferred playing "Hazard" most of the time instead of emulating Fabregas. It's a "Ego Vs Practicality" clash all over again. Though, both Tuchel and Lampard played Jorgi-Kova more as CDM, because they pushed Kante forward, which is ironic.

It's weird... normally centre backs have the most passes on average yet Kovačić had the second most passes per 90 last season with 33 short, 38 medium and 13 long attempts. He topped the charts at Chelsea for passes into final third and progressive passes, by a long way with regards to the latter, yet he was down in ninth for key passes and chance creation. Even Azpi provided more despite mostly playing as a centre back 🤔 Jorginho + Kovačić does make sense because the 523 calls for two more traditional centre mids rather than the "CDM" you'd have in a 433 (I mean it is essentially a 433 only with fullbacks pushed up and a holding mid pushed back into defence. Christensen could probably play there just as David Luiz probably would've if he wasn't paired by Ramires or Lampard in a 4231) and they put up respectable enough defensive contributions. Jorginho not getting the chance to play Fabregas-esque passes is understandable since we never really play on the break and end up with five players standing around the opposition box with next to no movement before Mount/Kanté/Azpi are forced to try something, but Kovačić should be better in those situations because everything about his playstyle screams tight space player. He could be astonishingly good if he improved on those passes through the lines after beating the initial resistance in midfield, and if he could test the goalie more often from distance.
Definitely, Feels bad he wasted 3 years at Real, but he really showed up at Chelsea. In general, Croatian players are always underated Perisich, Mandzukic... who played brutally but always for some reason were in the shadows, and even Modric who was once declared as the worst transfer in Real.🤔

Great win for Chelsea Football Club and it was great to see Lukaku score two great goals in his second home debut. Kova had a great game as well. Saul will eventually come good remember Thiago Silva had a poor first game but then throughout the season he proved why he is one of the best defenders in the world and he proved that again with his block today. @@thebluescaptain he's world class when it comes to ball retention but his final ball after breaking a press with dribbling is usually wayward as he suddenly seems to lose all vision and composure. It's weird... normally centre backs have the most passes on average yet Kovačić had the second most passes per 90 last season with 33 short, 38 medium and 13 long attempts. He topped the charts at Chelsea for passes into final third and progressive passes, by a long way with regards to the latter, yet he was down in ninth for key passes and chance creation. Even Azpi provided more despite mostly playing as a centre back 🤔
Jorginho + Kovačić does make sense because the 523 calls for two more traditional centre mids rather than the "CDM" you'd have in a 433 (I mean it is essentially a 433 only with fullbacks pushed up and a holding mid pushed back into defence. Christensen could probably play there just as David Luiz probably would've if he wasn't paired by Ramires or Lampard in a 4231) and they put up respectable enough defensive contributions. Jorginho not getting the chance to play Fabregas-esque passes is understandable since we never really play on the break and end up with five players standing around the opposition box with next to no movement before Mount/Kanté/Azpi are forced to try something, but Kovačić should be better in those situations because everything about his playstyle screams tight space player. He could be astonishingly good if he improved on those passes through the lines after beating the initial resistance in midfield, and if he could test the goalie more often from distance.
Lukaku has well matured. He's at his peak now, one of the best in the world

Great win for Chelsea Football Club and it was great to see Lukaku score two great goals in his second home debut. Kova had a great game as well. Saul will eventually come good remember Thiago Silva had a poor first game but then throughout the season he proved why he is one of the best defenders in the world and he proved that again with his block today.
