I've come to the conclusion that me and peaches don't go together well, mostly due to the curse of peach leaf curl. Yours certainly look better than mine 😁
I'm also coming to that same conclusion too lol 😂. I'm particularly concerned with what looks like a bacterial canker infection on the Avalon Pride peach 😱 I think the only real way to avoid peach leaf curl here is to grow them under cover permanently, which is not really an option for me.
Yeah, keeping them covered in winter is the best way to prevent leaf curl. There are some spray options that they use in the US, but I don't think those are available here in the UK.
I got a pair of bare root red leaf peach from garden bargains. They had severely chopped roots but good top growth in bud , unfortunately when potted nothing changed. And after three months I contacted them , and got three small citrus in exchange . I put the potted trees in. The shade and much to my surprise despite lots of die back a few green shoots have emerged. So I moved them to a sunny spot and think the will be ok . Peach leaf curl is a big issue and I believe copper based fungicide has been banned for private use. I’d still consider using copper spray derived from aquarium algae treatment. Or parasite treatments to spray the buds prior to them opening. In spring .
That's great that they are coming back! Yeah peach leaf curl is a real pain, 2 years ago I thought it was going to kill my bonanza peach tree it was so badly infected with it. Covering them over winter does seem to help, but it didn't completely stop it.
I have 3 Peach Trees on my Allotment, none have Fruited, apart from one, 2 years in a row, though they didn’t grow very Big. I’m going to drastically cut them back, for next Season, 2025 and then get them covered, if no success, I will dig them up! 😢
Thanks for watching. Yeah, peach trees are quite difficult to grow here, mostly due to peach leaf curl. This year I had quite good results with a nectarine tree in my greenhouse, I only got 2 fruits, but it was its first year and I thinned it a bit. Just make sure you don't cut too much growth off your peach trees as they flower and fruit on last year's growth. So if you remove all the growth from this year they may not fruit next year.
Mislabelled trees are so frustrating!! Hope that tree that was supposed to be a Crimson Bonfire is indeed a better cultivar, but the sellers really ought to replace it.
Yeah, I have quite a lot of mislabelled plants now, very frustrating. The nursery I got this from wasn't for moving from their position when I last contacted them.
@@backyardsnackyard yeah, I was quite surprised, I have had good experiences with their customer service in the past. Maybe if I get a different person the response might be different 🤔
Yeah, it's surprising, you'd think with them being temperate climate fruits they would be easier to grow, but I think some of the subtropicals I grow are far easier to care for than peaches lol 😂

Beautiful 💞❤️
Thank you! 😊
Apparently you need to cover them in the winter to stay dry. I never got on well with patio trees.

I nearly gave up on peaches and nectarines when I managed to kill all but one.

@@PeterEntwistle 💯 I couldn’t agree with you more. Although they can deal with cold winters I think they really need long hot summers.
