Nami has always had such a strong connection with the other women we meet throughout the story, and I love how they’ve incorporated that here with Kaya.
Now I kinda wanna see Nami, Kaya, Nojiko, Robin, and Vivi having a slumber party in Kaya's room - with Chopper as well. I see part of the evening locating where Sanji is hiding in the walls trying to get a peak and doing something that will leave ar ringing sound in his ear.
Man, the fact Usopp calls Luffy his other-other best friend really goes to show just how lonely and alone he is. It's pretty sad if you think about it - he literally latched onto Luffy so hard just because he paid attention to him. Oh lord, I'm gonna tear up if I keep thinking down those lines. Also, I really like Sham and Buchi in this. Their characters have great chemistry. Sham, especially, I never liked in the anime but in this? Love her. Sassy bitch that she is. Also, the whole Nami/Kaya dynamic is so good. Nami just collecting a group of girl friends since she never had the chance to have that experience as a kid is so wholesome. And Kaya is a queen. Ugh, Syrup village in the anime is great but has a lot of ehhh to it, but I love the live action version. It's very different but a lot of fun.
This is something I love about this adaption: seeing Koby and Helmeppo together throughout this whole first season. We didn't really get much of them prior to their glow ups later on in the manga. So, seeing them gradually warm up to each other, as well as Garp becoming more of a mentor towards Koby, is a very welcome edition.
Kuro was like a slasher film villain here. But the most diabolical one is the one who took everything from Zoro, his arc-nemesis... Fall-Down D. Stairs.
They really killed off the only person Kaya had left who could watch over her. Merry wasn’t even a butler in this, he was her lawyer. She’s beyond alone now 😭
I mean, if they do more seasons and ever revisit her for a few reaction shots, like her receiving the first/second etc. bounty posters for the Strawhats, they could just make him alive again and he randomly mentions that the was left down there for way too long until he got rescued xD
This show was surprisingly good finished the show yesterday and I have to say despite minor nit picks it was really good I’m happy to say Netflix finally broke the curse, I just hope season 2 will still have oda involved in the story bc if he doesn’t it will cause issues for the show moving forward.
I love that they've already built the story assuming there will be future seasons - mentioning Baroque Works, putting references to future pirates that will be met, etc. It's smart of them.
24:45 he’s been in the Live Action’s of Kenshin, Jojo’s, Fullmetal Alchemist, Knights of the Zodiac and now One Piece, Mackenyu is a real life anime character Lol
That's what I want from the Live Action, something different, idk why some people really want it to be fully the same, The Kuro horror vibes was amazing and really better it feels like horror movies.
He's still active. He is/was above Sengoku. Sengoku talked to him when he stepped down from Fleet Admiral and told him to take the a less important role like Garp did. (Just to clarify)
24:25 I was hypnotized by Zoro's slow moves while constantly watching two enemies. Not to mention his perfect posture in the battle. Great job, Mackenyu! BTW Sham is beautiful. Perfect cat eyes.

33:15 Kong was the fleet admiral before sengoku and is now the World Government Commander-in-Chief he appear in the episode 0 a lot of people say he is related to luffy and garp because of his name since it make you think of king kong

Btw, I'm so glad how excited you all got at the "Grandpa?" part, because that was my exact reation too.
33:19 FYI, Kong is the World Government Commander-in-Chief, and Fleet Admiral before Sengoku. He appears after the end of Summit War Saga, where both Kong and Sengoku are discussing about the next Fleet Admiral.
I feel like the inclusion of the golden-goose spoiler (Garp) is for intrigue for the series & as a fail-safe in case this doesn't end up taking off from here - just like how the Scott Pilgrim movie maybe could have been two movies, but went with one in the end (and it didn't do well in theaters at all)
I’m only on 146 so I was also surprised. Someone told me the reveal is somewhere after 300. But at first I was like… “huh? Is this just to add some drama or did I miss something?” 😂
True!! Can’t believe I watched the whole episodes in one day… the live action is really amazing not cartoonish.. imo the actor villains really did the job in carrying the whole show
Guys guys guys... Pell better count his days. Oda is coming for his ass. Live Action has been more than willing to kill people off, and we all know Pell is the most egregious 'walking dead' offender. He had better hope there's no second season because that boy is gonna be bits and pieces all over Alabasta. RIP Pell.
Ngl, this live action adaptation has really got me back in the mood to watch one piece. I stopped watching not long after the timeskip, and just never really felt any inclination to return. I think i might've just start from the beginning again and see if i can get further this time...
any chance they're trying up the importance with the luffy/coby and roger/garp parallel with this adaptation? the direct interactions are happening more and the tension seems to be building.
I would say, Mackenyu's sword play is really good maybe because of training extensively on his past roles like Rurouni Kenshin which is if you watch it, you will in awe on their sword fights
I've honestly been really enjoying the series! I think one of my favorite moments of the episode was the instrumental of We Are playing right after they get the Going Merry, sailing for the first time. I'm hoping this does well enough to get a second season. I would love to see the Alabasta arc adapted
Yeah, i think this show was great and better than I expected so i truly hope for a second season because once they get to the grandline, the story gets better and the world get bigger. This show did its best as a prologue but man seeing alabasta would be a treat. I mean with that cliffhanger at the end of the last episode made me scream and it would be a crime if they didn’t do a second season 😂
When you really think about, it makes sense for Garp to care about his grandson enough to try to stop him from getting a bounty, AND it develops Koby and Helmeppos training arc.
Honestly? I've tried to get into One Piece a handful of times and my ADHD just couldnt do it, but for some reason the live action is really clicking for me. I think its the casting all the actors are so charming I cant help but connect with every character so quickly. The pacing helps with my adhd too. Makes me want to try the anime again 👍🏻
I heard that this was supposed to be a 10 episodes show, but they had to cut it to 8 episodes so i think there are stuff being cut and others feels fast paced so if that’s true i think i can forgive them when it comes to pacing and cutting stuff. But it’s still a good adaptation imo despite the interesting cuts and changes.
Besides getting lost from the well (in the mansion's literal back yard) to the mansion, ending up by Luffy who was escorted from the front of the mansion far along the path by then; Zoro also got lost in the mansion… he and Luffy split up at the very front of the mansion, we then see Zoro wandering around for a while just to end up, literally right back where he started at the front entrance to the mansion, where he ended up fighting the meowban (brothers) {siblings?}…
I think they include the fact taht Kuro caused his own problems himself really well without shoving it in our face; the things he hates most about assisting Kaya; her isolation and helplessness are thing he caused with her illness. A crew that he cannot trust? Well, it's pretty obvious that he controls his crew members with fear. By being the strongest and most ruthless. That means that to become captian, you'd just have to be _stronger_ and _more ruthless._ And you'd prove that? By killing Kuro. Either that or they just were so afraid and tired of his abuse that they lashed out. Point is, Luffy would never have these issues in the first place.
With long running weekly manga like this, some things are planned out well in advance, and some things are just slotted into place afterwards. One of the biggest advantages that this show has, is that they have access to all 25-26 years of story right off the bat, and can choose to foreshadow and pace things accordingly.
It is kinda funny the more you think about if someone watches the Anime and is not at the moment were Luffy meets Garp in the Anime then he gets completely spoiled by the Live Action :D But its not a bad spoiler as it does not ruin the story at all. It just takes the surprise to another point in the story. The surprise in the Anime is then gone but the surprise itself was not ruined.

5:31 As somebody who practiced Kendo for a few years, and who has three other practitioners in the family...while they're wearing the bogu, they're not actually practicing Kendo. It's not a fighting system, or even really a martial art. It's a sport, more like modern fencing. Landing points on your opponent mostly involves striking with the proper part of the blade, kiai timing and accuracy, and footwork / technique. If any of those steps are wrong, you won't score a point. For example, if your strike didn't have the proper fumikomi (foot stomp), or you stomped too soon or too late, even if you landed the blow you'd receive zero points. Your kiai (shout) also needs to call your target area. For example, if you go to strike the opponent's wrist guard (kote), but your opponent moves and the strike hits their head (men), you won't score.
24:51 Mackenyu played Enishi in the last "Rurouni Kenshin" live-action movie (Rurouni Kenshin: The Final) - He practiced Kyokushin Karate since he was eight years old - He is the son of actor and martial artist Sonny Chiba.
33:16 Kong is the World Government Commander-in-Chief. He was the previous Fleet Admiral of the Marines at the time of the Battle in Edd War twenty-seven years ago. Some time after Gol D. Roger's execution twenty-four years ago, he was promoted while Sengoku succeeded him as Fleet Admiral.
kong was the fleet admiral before sengoku and now is commander in chief of the world government i think he is in charge of cp 0-9 or something like that
Same. I was so shocked and surprised! Mostly because I grew up with Ussop and Kaya being one of my favourite ‘couples’, I was fully expecting to be very little romance due to the nature of the franchise. But they did it!
i enjoy watching this more with you guys then by myself, is more fun with over One Piece fans mainly because i have no friends that watch one piece and i watch all your reactions to the anime so that a plus
Kong was the Commander in Chief of the World Government, he was Sengoku's predecessor as Fleet Admiral around Roger's time so he's basically the next rung up, likely the bridge between Navy and WG. We only ever see Kong briefly, I think the most screentime he got was post-Marineford when Sengoku handed his resignation and recommended Aokiji.
Ya I think they have plans for merry rip that no one would expect that I'm thinking they might be able to work into the live action and if they add it in that possible may be with the going Merry itself and anyone that follows the anime or manga might know what I'm talking about trying to avoid spoilers but hopefully some will get the hint of what I'm talking about
One thing I wish had been done differently: put zoro's flashback during his fight with Mihawk. Another thing: give Ussop a slightly bigger role in the arc. Otherwise, Nami mvp
28:30 did they not notice the remix to We Are? Or did they just cut it out? 33:20 yes, you're supposed to know that. He made a brief appearance after Marineford. I think it's during Post Marineford or end of Marineford. Sengoku talks to Kong.
I just wish they give zoro's backstory a little more time. I mean, for non-fans, there is not mention of anything. Just saying that it was his 2000 loss would've been fine
22:00 He did. But because he was fighting both of the Meowban Brothers at the same time while protecting Usopp and Nami. Plus, Jango hypnotized the Meowban Brothers into being stronger.
Mackenyu's Enishi swordfight with Kenshin was one of his best fight scenes. You should check it out! The video trended when he was announced to play Zoro~
31:07 this is relatable as fuck for me. I am watching this with a friend who hasn't seen/read One Piece before and yeah it was killing me trying not to spoil who Garp actually was to him. I was kind of glad they got it out early too lmao
People on patreon probably said it but Kang was the Fleet Admiral that came before Sengoku. You briefly see him in anime talking with Sengoku when he talks about retiring. They talk about who Sengoku will recommend for his own position.
this might be a hot take, but it always felt wrong to me that Oda left some characters alive in the manga when they're supposed to be dead due to a fatal wound, like Merry for example
considering things have to go through oda for approval, i think we can fairly assume oda too might've thought he should've just written off merry to make kuro more of a bigger threat before his fight with Luffy
Makes sense that this has more of the violence like in the manga, since its an adaptation of the manga and not the anime. Also as for the sandals. theyre not allowed on netflix sets due to safety regulations etc
Nami has always had such a strong connection with the other women we meet throughout the story, and I love how they’ve incorporated that here with Kaya.

I'm SO CLOSE to the final episode (halfway through episode 7) the kuro fight was much better in this than the manga/anime imo
I'm thinking the reason they revealed Garp's and Luffy's relationship is because they know they won't get to post Ennies Lobby for the live action

Supposedly rumors saying there contracts has them allowed so like 3 more seasons

Kong is the guy who is above sengoku and below the gorosei. We saw him once in the anime/manga so its easy to forget
So happy for post episode discussion. I love reaction channels but I love the discussion part the most.
When "We Are" kicked in...full body chills.
buggy's actor actually has some shows to his name, with the one i know him from being deke shaw in agents of shield (the marvel show)
I was so happy that ussop and Kia kissed. IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!! And they did zoro Justice
Ya I think they have plans for merry rip that no one would expect that I'm thinking they might be able to work into the live action and if they add it in that possible may be with the going Merry itself and anyone that follows the anime or manga might know what I'm talking about trying to avoid spoilers but hopefully some will get the hint of what I'm talking about
I am loving your reactions man
One thing I wish had been done differently: put zoro's flashback during his fight with Mihawk.
Another thing: give Ussop a slightly bigger role in the arc.
Otherwise, Nami mvp
Kong is now Commander-in-Chief. He was Fleet Admiral before Sengoku and was shown once after Marinefort whan Sengoku recommanded Aokiji as new FA.
Just saying that it was his 2000 loss would've been fine
i think they are going to get deeper about that in second season when zoro meets tashigi
Kong is the Fleet Admiral before Sengoku, we only saw him in a flashback if I remember correctly
22:00 He did. But because he was fighting both of the Meowban Brothers at the same time while protecting Usopp and Nami. Plus, Jango hypnotized the Meowban Brothers into being stronger.
I can’t lie, they got me when they played We Are
Mackenyu's Enishi swordfight with Kenshin was one of his best fight scenes. You should check it out! The video trended when he was announced to play Zoro~
31:07 this is relatable as fuck for me. I am watching this with a friend who hasn't seen/read One Piece before and yeah it was killing me trying not to spoil who Garp actually was to him. I was kind of glad they got it out early too lmao
the OG We Are theme spliced into the live action theme is just chefs kiss
People on patreon probably said it but Kang was the Fleet Admiral that came before Sengoku. You briefly see him in anime talking with Sengoku when he talks about retiring. They talk about who Sengoku will recommend for his own position.
28:39 Really? No reaction to the background music? I had goosebumps and started to love the show even more because of that. 😆
Kong might refere to the previous Fleet Admiral before Sengoku, he is now Commander-in-Chief for the World Government
I hope you guys upload your reactions on the remaining episodes soon cause I'm looking forward to your reactions, hehe
this might be a hot take, but it always felt wrong to me that Oda left some characters alive in the manga when they're supposed to be dead due to a fatal wound, like Merry for example
considering things have to go through oda for approval, i think we can fairly assume oda too might've thought he should've just written off merry to make kuro more of a bigger threat before his fight with Luffy
We always complain about OP characters not dying, but Merry tho😢
Makes sense that this has more of the violence like in the manga, since its an adaptation of the manga and not the anime. Also as for the sandals. theyre not allowed on netflix sets due to safety regulations etc
Well you are living up to your channel name.
What did they say stupid outside of the clickbait title?
kong is a commander in chief for the world government, we've seen him, just not allot
Mirror Ball Island was from the movie Where Jango hypnotizes a town into dancing.
33:40
Kong is one of the Vice Admirals , he is an old man and has spiky hair
"They keep focusing on the stairs" bro im fkn ded 📶💀
The actor who plays Buggy played Zeke in Agents of SHIELD
Loving your reaction, but can you put episode numbers in the titles? Right now, it's kinda hard to figure out which comes next. Thanks!
33:20 Kong was the Previous Fleet Admiral, before Sengoku.
