Trip Hop was one of those genres that could have been taken further if the original Artists only believed in it instead of shunning it like house & techno Artists
This genre, although brilliant at times, took itself too seriously & became a victim of it’s own moderate success .. it was never going mainstream yet it sort of died on the vine due to apathy & lack of investment from bigger labels and artists .. the very definition of a zeitgeist imho
