I don't agree with this assessment that this started because Kendrick just didn't want to be in Drake's shadow. Kendrick's dislike of Drake is clearly based on far more than simple "I'm better than you" rap ego. I'm not sure if we'll ever know about any specific discreet event that caused a falling out. It seems like Kendrick genuinely doesn't like the type of person Drake is, and over the years the slights (and perceived slights) between the two of them piled up high enough that we finally reached this point.
I also think it's worth asking why an artist like Kendrick would allege the things he's alleged against Drake. He's not typically an Eminem or 50 Cent type that just throws out insults for the thrill and shock value of it. He is someone who takes his art very seriously and chooses his words very carefully.
This whole Drake and Kendrick beef started way back in 2013. Drake had a problem with Kendrick's control verse not totally being screw everybody. When in reality it was about making hip hop competitive again. He then went on Sports Nation and basically trashed Kendrick the whole time, even getting the recording pulled so it would never air. And it's been going on for over a decade now, with both of them taking jabs at each other in their songs the past decade.
Yes you are very correct. Drake isn't from the hip hop culture and didn't u derstabd the completive side of it. That's what Kendrick was trying to bring about. Not beef.
This! I don't like this interview. Kendrick is never in the tabloids, he seems like an artist who's in it for the art not the fame. Kendrick has something to say, then I'm listening. He's one of the few artist that speaks truth and is for the people.
Kendrick was never second fiddle to Drake. He also didn't need Drake's tour to go where he was going. There is no recognition here of the impact of Kendrick every time he comes around. These brothers have a terrible take on this beef. Terrible.
Both of these guys are both Drake stans and are biased toward Drake. These guys are pretending like Drake was not taking shots at Kendrick for years and also omitted when Drake did the ESPN interview and talked about Kendrick greasy eventually asking ESPN not to air it.
They're both alive, so no. It's not the biggest rap beef of all time.

Before his death, it was accepted that Michael Jackson was/is the greatest entertainer of all time musically. By your logic, which I think is understandable, we can't have the biggest or the greatest of anything but only at the end of time. Am I quoting you right?

The magnitude of the beef is not measured by killing each other (that's dumb), it's measured probably by fan/public interest.

Incorrect statement about Nas taking 7months to respond to JayZ’s The Takeover. When JayZ released the live performance of The Takeover at the 2001 Summer Jam, Nas responded that same week with Stillmatic Freestyle and destroyed JayZ. By the time Ether was released later that year, it only sealed JayZ’s coffin and buried JayZ forever. In no way should you or can you compare Drake vs Lamar beef with JayZ vs Nas battle. There are similarities where two men with insecurities attack the opponents about their female spouses and children. But JayZ Nas beef tops it.
As a European, it’s very funny hearing that guy say “Drake, Kendrick and J Cole are the biggest 3 rappers in the world” - maybe the US because I have no idea what J Cole looks like, let alone what he sounds like 😂
