Desmond plays recordings by Leroy Anderson, the New Christy Minstrels, Edmundo Ros, Margaret Whiting, John Wilson, Billy Williams, The Sax Pack, Matt Monro (which I have had to remove due to a copyright claim) , Dawn Upshaw, Ivan Rebroff, Lena Horne and others.
Desmond Carrington was a highly popular broadcaster, as far back as I remember. This is the first part of a programme I recorded 21 years ago, and I will upload the next part tomorrow. This is the first side of a C90 cassette tape.
For the first time, I have decided to remove a recording from a programme. In this case it is a record by Noel Murphy. When I was doing some research, I discovered that Noel had been convicted, since this programme was recorded, of a crime that is unforgivable, and therefore I did not feel comfortable in keeping the recording in this presentation.

There really should be a BBC Radio Hall Of Fame for these smooth tongued old devils...! They were fabulous broadcasters & should always be remembered...

I loved Desmond's shows. I remember often sitting at the bottom of my garden on Sunday afternoons with coffee in hand listening to his show - 2 hours of bliss. His final slot was an hour at 7 o'clock on a Friday evening - I always said that my weekend started then!

Me too! It would be so good to be able to access the archive on the BBC web site. I wonder if they could be persuaded with enough interest?

Beautiful voice that was 'Desmond' loved his show great facts on performing 🎭 artists on radio his knowledge & research on each show was excellent 👏 💙 🎧 🎼 🇮🇪 superb and smooth oñ his links. 👋
