I still can’t believe that you, someone 10 years younger than me, gave me the strength to make the best decision ever: quit my job. Thank you so much!!! It was scary, considering I have a son to provided to, but I’m in a much better place now and I thought I could never do that. Again, thank you! 🙏🏼
Everyone's first job out of college isn't the best, I'm glad you show never to be afraid to change directions! I quit my first job out of college too after a year for a better one that made me happier. Someone's first job is never their last!
i was so sad when you quit your job because i LOVED your work week in my life vlogs - but now seeing how far you've come in the past year, i am so so so happy for you brooke 💌 wishing nothing but the best for you
In the least offensive way, you just looked so spent working the 9-5 and now you’re glowing. I am SO happy for you that you had the privilege to quit and pursue what you love. Good for you!! Happy 1 year of genuine happiness!!!!
What you said about learning from others and being open to listen to advice and wisdom in many different areas of life and that acknowledgement of all of the unknown and all the experiences and knowledge people bring to spaces - so real Brooke! I think it's so important and so wise to always keep that in mind as 23-year-olds and at any age, thank you for sharing that.
I love this video! When I graduated from high school I went right into an office job and I was so depressed I quit about 7 months in and got a job at Sephora because I wanted to become a makeup artist. I quit Sephora after two years and then got a high paying job with my city! And now I’m in a program to become a medical esthetician 😊 remmeber everyone, it takes time and dedication to pursue your true passions but you’ll get there one day, I promise :)
I’ve been following you since your college videos! You inspired me to quit the job I absolutely hated (at the same time you were experiencing this and quitting yours). It was such a good decision (for both of us!) and I appreciated your honesty and vulnerability. I can’t believe it’s been a year?! ❤️
Your work week vlogs bring a lot of nostalgia because that’s when I started watching your vids. I was going through a particularly hard time in life and between your HOUR long vlogs and listening to Girls Gotta Eat, it gave me something to look forward to 😭A lot of feels watching this video! 💕👏🏼
i can't believe it was a year ago that you quit!!! It felt like it was not so long ago! YOUVE COME SUCH A LONG WAY BROOKE AND IM SO HAPPY FOR ALL YOUR SUCCESS
I quit my teaching job and moved to the front office of my school and handling student records and honestly it’s been great. Yes I took a pay cut but I’m less stressed, actually have energy after work and don’t dread getting up and going to work everyday !!!
Teaching is honestly one of the hardest jobs hahah. I moved from traditional to a part time year round teaching job (30 hr so technically still full time) because I couldn’t handle the 9 hr days
This is sooo inspiring to watch! I recently quit my full time job because I hated it and it was the best decision ever!! It's never worth it staying in a job if you're unfulfilled and unhappy! 👌🏻
i started watching you after you graduated, and started the weekly working vlogs and can i just point out the amount of insane growth ive noticed in the past year.... i used to think you were kinda stufffy and negative and boring, but really it was just your job holding you back! you're an amazing person and im so happy you took the leap and quit the sales job to focus on social media/other things in general, youre glowing! sosososososoo happy for you and excited to watch you grow more!!!
I am much older than you and I'm not sure how I found your channel although I enjoy it very much. You should be very proud of yourself as you think and talk like someone much older with much more life experience. You actually know more than you think you do and you are willing to learn and be open which is great. I'm so happy that you and your parents have a great relationship and you want to spend time with them. Kudos to your parents as they raised a great person.
Dude you posted this a year ago and it's when I decided to switch my grad program, job, everything. WOW. Made me cry a little because when I watched you watch the video, I felt for a brief second the same anxiety I was feeling... So insane
I remember watching this video last year and silently cheering for you! It's so inspiring to see someone my age take this huge step and choose happiness!! You inspire me! :)
Looking and feeling great looks amazing on you Brooke 💜👊🏼 What I see is that no matter what you’re doing even things you don’t enjoy, you always give it your all and that says a lot about who you are! Proud of you girl!
No hate but literally all jobs are like this not just jobs after college I’ve been working and going to college this whole time (5 years now 😬) and I have to say this applies to all jobs
What a cool transformation to witness, I feel like you have changed so much since then in such a positive way!! Glad I have become a subscriber since then :)
It’s funny and nice at the same time to watch this. I remember what MY life was like when I watched that video, a year really is a long time! Happy you’re happy Brooke!
this is so amazing Brooke! thanks for sharing💕this makes me excited to continue my yt growth, and hopefully get to the freedom you're at! I never liked working a job lol
can't believe this was a year ago!! it went by so fast. I was in a bad job, recently graduated college, and was depressed because I couldn't see my future. Im now in a job I love!!!
I’m starting a new position as a Quality Design Engineer for medical devices come Wednesday. This will be my 4th job out of college. I had one job straight out of school and it was horrible, mentally and emotionally abused. Part of a mass layoff. Second job was too big of a company and felt like a number, plus too far from My old apartment. The third job was a pay-cut, but more hands-on along with being closer to home. Their handling of COVID and allowing employees with sexual harassment claims to continue working was abysmal. I landed this new job that’s 10 minutes from my new apartment along with it being women led.
I definitely agree with you, keep in mind about who you're working with and the overall environment. Life is too short to be in a job that isn't the best for you. I remember I had a negative coworker and everyday she complained about everything and every year she said she would quit, but never did. She's been there for over 20+ years, in the same position, complaining everyday. I AINT ABOUT THAT LIFE LMAO. I believe if you truly don't like what you're doing and you know you deserve better, do something about it. Love this video btw!!!
You're so right about finances mattering but also it being worth it to take a lower paying job sometimes. I am 25 and definitely struggling with that right now. After I get my professional license (hopefully next year) I am going to explore entering the public sector for better work life balance!!
I remember that video and feeling so inspired cuz I wanted to quit my job too 😂 a few months later I did! (only to go to another corporate job, but it was a much better fit for me). Love you Brooke!!
I loved this video! I love these reflection type videos in general but I think you did a great job thinking critically about the decision. You also touched on so many points that I was feeling at the time and you gave me the courage to leave my last job before it became too toxic for me. No regrets!
I still can’t believe it’s been a whole YEAR. I remember when you first made that insta post. 😅💗 Love you Brooke! Honestly, you look so much more youthful and happy now. 😍 Obviously you were always gorgeous lol. Definitely made the right choice though!☺️😌
I just watched your old video the other day! I was cleaning and binge watching all your old videos. I love this. I’ve been following you since before your college days. ❤️
When you worked at Oracle I personally thought you seemed like you were thriving and I enjoyed your vlogs the most but I'm glad you are happy with your decision
Love the idea of this video! I can really tell the lack of sleep has had a change in your energy. Have you tried using your soul cycle bike? Using my bike really tires me out & helps me sleep at night.
Wow! It’s been a year already! I’m so glad you filmed this video-gotta love it! Who else still watches a good ol work week in my life from Brooke? Cause I do!
I quit my job too and I work for myself, I still have a boss and what not but I work for myself and from home and best decision ever! I had too much performance anxiety in a office! And I was lucky too that I could do it at 25😁🤩 Love this video!
N M They wouldn’t let her stay after she quit. The way that company works is that one you let them know you are leaving, you have to pack up your desk and leave the same day.
@@brookemiccio But on your quitting video you said that day your manager asked you when your last day was going to be, so you did not have to leave that day or am I wrong?
Elizabeth Santana As a manager myself when people put in their notice you are leery of what they are going to work on since they are in check out mode. So even unconsciously they just may not put in the same effort or will make careless mistakes. Nonetheless you should always offer notice and you may be asked to wrap up something or leave some notes for whoever may be covering for you ... my 2cents
Tbt to corporate Brooke BUT we are so happy that you’re better off now. Also, you ALWAYS make it a point to say how grateful you are for your viewers and followers and I just wanted to say that it doesn’t go unnoticed. We love you!
i LOVE this video! I also quit my post grad sales job a few months after I started because I legit cried everyday and the money wasn't worth my happiness. I started serving at a restaurant shortly after quitting my "real job" and felt bad about myself that I had a college degree but was ~just~ a server. Fast forward 2.5 years and I'm still a server but make the same if not more money than I did at my sales job and work 35 hours a week instead of 60+ hours like i did at my other job. At 25 I'm starting to realize that if it doesn't bring you joy, then let that shit go lol
I'm not in a position where I can just up and quit but I can't wait to be there. I don't like taking orders and working for anyone else...I just feel like I know what I want to do but the bridge to get there is like non existent if that makes sense like I can envision my self doing and being what I wanna be but its like the getting to that place is the hard part. I don't want to waste my life building someone else's dreams and delay my passions.
I am quitting my job day after Tommorow and was just checking on vlogs and feeling we feel. That overwhelming, anxious and grateful feeling. Relate to you. More power to you. Love from India ♥️✨
you seem so much happier now! I saw how your work affected your mood and made your mental health so poor and now I'm worried that my first big girl job will do the same to me yikes. I'm having a hard time getting a job being a recent graduate during covid-19 so if you have any connections in the Philadelphia area or advice please send them my way! -I have a bachelor's degree in mass communications. Anyways, I love your content!
wow i too cried more when i left my toxic job because of my co workers. i really thought they were my “best friends” since i worked there for over 5 years. once i left i realized that was not true. they were more mad that I was leaving them rather than being excited that now i’m really happy. But other than that you have grown so much throughout that one year!
You've grown up so much in one year! I left my first job after one year also because it was just not a good fit. The company I left it for was amazing. It opened me to so many opportunities and great place to work. On that note, anyone have advice for a coworker who seems out to get to you when in fact they are not doing their work and twisting what you say?
still don't get the US health system and how poor it is......i had heart failure and all my hospital treatment, medication and cardiologist visits are FREE in Australia....feel sorry for you guys and having to pay astronomical health insurances.

wait how was this only a year ago ..... longest year of our lives
omg ikr btw i love your channel kenzie!! you and brooke are my fav youtubers!!
Omg never forget corporate Brooke

you are a fool that’s all i can say good luck on that UI benefit
I’m so happy for you!!! Go you!!!

Exactly! It’s called real life!
What applies to all of them - they all suck? Hahah honestly sadly probably true. Which is why if you can escape like Brooke could why would you not? 😂
Kali Mcc Some people just have to pay their dues for awhile. It’s not all easy no matter what job you get into.
What a cool transformation to witness, I feel like you have changed so much since then in such a positive way!! Glad I have become a subscriber since then :)

ugh queen love u
the GROWTH! you love to see it!
“You don’t know everything”... can you please send that to some of my coworkers LOL
LOVED THIS! Your reflections are really insightful, and it’s so clear how much you’ve grown in a year. Keep it up!!
It makes COMPLETE sense why you were just incredibly emotional after quitting that job
Love this video Brooke!! Thanks for the insight and great reminders!
Your hair looks soooo good here!!!
I love seeing how much you’ve grown 😍you inspire my channel so much!!!

I actually went back and watched this video a few weeks ago, loved seeing your reaction to it! Glad you’re thriving now ❤️
You’re kinda my role model, If I had a job I don’t know if I could quit it to pursue something I would love. I am really happy for you! Stay safe
SO proud of you and your growth!!

I work in HR and my professional self is sad you didn't give a 2 week notice lol
There was no such thing as 2 weeks at that job I watched many others quit and you have to leave that day!!

So crazy that it’s been a year that you quit! You’ve definitely inspired me to start my own RUclips channel and I’m so happy I did!
Random but I was looking at your LinkedIn the other day and it still says you live in Boston. Just in case you wanted to change it
What an inspiring video! Congrats on how far you've come and here's to everything to come! XOXO
omg never forget
I know how you feel. I have a few cons on my new job. I guess I will continue pushing forward and see where it leads.

Aww crazy, first vid of yours I saw was when you quit! If I recall correctly. What a year it has been, you are killing life girl! Keep it up!
ICONIC. Ps Wow didn’t realize how long your hair has gotten!

I wondered that too
You are looking BOMB Brooke wow!!!!

I quit a job I had a few years ago and have never looked back!!! So excited to hear your thoughts on your situation ❤️
What a year!
the editing on this vid is fire
I left teaching to go to law school and even though law school is hard and stressful I am so much happier!
Love your sit down videos 😘
You've grown up so much in one year! I left my first job after one year also because it was just not a good fit. The company I left it for was amazing. It opened me to so many opportunities and great place to work.
On that note, anyone have advice for a coworker who seems out to get to you when in fact they are not doing their work and twisting what you say?
So wild that it’s been a year but also like specifically, what a CRAZY span of 12 months
Yessss!! I worked this same job and quit
I loved all your Boston's videos and I lovee all of them now. Loveeeee @Brooke ❤️
aH i won’t be able to watch until later buT i’m hype for this
Wow it's been a year and you probably had one of the best years in your life.
Proud of you
I love the lesson you have learn about quitting your job
still don't get the US health system and how poor it is......i had heart failure and all my hospital treatment, medication and cardiologist visits are FREE in Australia....feel sorry for you guys and having to pay astronomical health insurances.
The pros and cons are sooooo real I am a social media manager in and I work from home and it can get so lonely!!
Can’t wait to be able to quit my corporate job hahaha
hi brooke! i don’t know if your apartment allows pets, but that would be a great way to combat loneliness! i’m home from college for the semester, and i worried about not getting socialization too. i decided to adopt a kitty, and it’s one of the best decisions i’ve made! i truly feel less alone because i have a little friend :)
