  • Planes just kept getting smaller as we traveled 150 miles north of the Arctic Circle to the North Slope of the Brooks Range in Northern Alaska. It poured rain all night. The following morning we glassed small breaks in the weather before I was lucky to spot a lone barren-ground caribou bull crossing the river approximately a mile from camp. Levi and I scrambled across the tussocks to cut him off.
The following day we decided to hike and glass, overlooking the valley where we shot our caribou. As we got close to our glassing point, we spotted a wolf on a fresh kill. It was incredible to watch the wolf pick apart what appeared to be a good bull. After twelve hours of glassing, taking us into the following day. I spotted a grizzly on the wolf kill in the pouring rain. It was a huge bear. We scrambled to the closest ridge only to find another bear working the flat between us and the big bear. As we made our final stalk the big bear casually walked into the willows and disappeared. We waited in the pouring rain for several hours before attempting to bump him from the cover before heading back to camp. The bear had eaten the remainder of the caribou carcass including its horns.
Come along for an incredible adventure in a most amazing place!
