My jaw doesn’t lock open but the left side locks when it’s closed, I can still open my jaw just not all the way and it’s like this permanently unless I just shift it to the right before I open my jaw… it’s not like I can’t open my mouth completely I just have to open it a certain way… any ideas on how to fix this?

When I was in junior high, I was sitting in class doing my work then my jaw locked out of nowhere while my mouth was closed. That was the first and last time that has happened to me. Saying I was horrified is an understatement. It unlocked itself after a minute or two, but my God, not being able to open my mouth was nightmare fuel.

To anyone who may have jaw issues or are just scared of having their jaw locked, when you’re about to yawn, you can place your fist directly under your face, and your jaw won’t open up as much while yawning. It has helped me a lot! And don’t overestimate how much food you can shove in your mouth! It’s not worth getting a locked jaw because once it’s locked, you’re stuck with your mouth wide open and it’ll hurt.
