I think from initial reaction that people are sleeping on Georgia
We often see games won and lost by who wins the hills and who can raid the opponent to death.
When you combine towers in your base with insane eco boosts with hills that are hard to break. Plus regenerating hussars.
All those things are huge winning conditions. Plus great siege to win those hills.
It will be interesting to see how people will play the civ in late game. You can almost justify raiding vs defending your home because the monataries give your protection both in garrison space and attack plus time to hit them before they hit you.
I can’t imagine most Georgia opponents choosing to raid them with defenses anywhere vs defend their own base. Which is a win for Georgia by itself.
I see the UU being very strong for the purpose it serves. It will be the main unit to find military whereas the stables will be used for raiding units.

    • @Biobin123
      @Biobin123 8 месяцев назад

      1. Eco boost comes later in game and needs planing, which makes it more complex
      2. Early game eco is shit and for non pro players it will be hard to produce villagers
      3. Your opponent knows you will go for cavalry cause you don’t have many options so you will be countered
      4. Every map with water/lakes will be shit for georgians
      5. With bad early game eco and No bombard cannon means you will struggle to defend castles against fast trebu push
As viper said it has no real strong one unit or buff but a synergy, which makes them pretty shit at attacking forcing to lose map control and be defensive booming until late game push. In rts having map control is great.
I am more scared of warrior priest with 125 hp cavalry speed and healing faster than priest, any relic dependent map will be auto win for armenians+ free relic …

I feel like they might be kinda similar to Spanish, great in low elo but once people get a bit better, they are underwhelming.
Like they have a lot of great defensive techs and buildings, but that means you are *teching into* defense. All the resources spent and buildings built are not pushing the enemy, and higher elo will punish that.
Compare that to Koreans who are great at defense because they SAVE resources, which allows them to push a bit harder on the front while still getting good defense.
And they don't have a killer unit to push with. Sure cav regens but in a stand up fight cavalier get shredded by halb and take a lot more damage from arbs. The unique cav if elite is paladin-adjacent but you need castles to mass and tons of upgrades.
I feel like their best bet would be monk/siege, BUT no atonement, no counter to enemy monks with atonement, so you lose monk v. monk.
I dunno, interesting but maybe not OP.

Wow, my country got added into my favorite RTS game. I don't even know what to say, I'm waiting for its release so that I can try it out first hand. I've been away so I'll try not to spoil myself, I assume this is a beta version of the civ? Anyhow, the fortress looks amazing, we have one like that. The watch towers (I think?) look like the ones that our monks live in, you have to climb really high up, we don't have many towers like those, we always had fortresses on top of hills and mountains. The flag is our current one, nothing like the old original one, looks awkward tbh :D but at least it has crosses, Georgians have always associated themselves with Christian crosses and what not, it was their moving force (their belief) in combat and many other real life related occasions.
The biggest part that I'm curious about is the voicelines, idk which Georgian they'll use for it. We don't have a lot of voice actors (or any at all) that speak fluent old Georgian.
Also, the walls look a lot like our old walls. I'm glad Georgians were introduced as cav, or at least as a melee civ. Georgians were known for being strong melee fighters, not so much of a cav-driven nation, but at least we're melee civ in Aoe2 :)
The highground bonus, man, this is amazing, really real-life copy paste of how Georgians fought. I think this is the most realistic bonus of Georgians since Georgians used to defend real-life attacks on their fortresses from the highground, we had/have our fortresses on highgrounds after all.
The fortified church is... interesting. We'd never in our life fight in/from church as far as I understand our history. But being able to garrison villages and monks inside is really realistic. Even to this day you might see church protecting certain citizens and church usually overrules the government, but it doesn't have as much influence in real life today cause of obvious reasons, but it had all the influence before. We do have churches everywhere tho. I think I'm fine with this building treated as a tower or a light fortress.
I love Svan towers. That's one of the highest mountainous places in our country, it's an important place. I love that they named the towers after that part of the country.
I'm glad they chose Monaspa as our special units. They were the King's personal special force type of warriors, created from multiple people with various beliefs with various backgrounds, slaves, mercenaries, warriors, exiled etc. I love that in Aoe2 they gave them (or any unit really. doesn't matter) a bonus where if they stand together, they grow stronger. That's how it was, that's how it still is atm irl. I don't know how it really translates into English, but the phrase goes something like: "Together we stand strong". Or at least that's the message of it.
    Thanks for reviewing Georgians :)

Now that the civ has been out for a while, what do you think of it? Did it live up to your expectations?
Also, what do you think of the fact that they and the Armenians use the Mediterranean architecture style?

It's weird so many people are worried about the Fortified Church. They are expensive and need expensive units added to actually fire arrows. They don't even have murder holes like TCs do.
A great building but I don't believe FC into FC rush will be a problem

Hey, i'm a casual Aoe2 player but i've known and played the game since i was 7. I think that all the new civilizations recently introduced had a "personalized" meccanic that made them really interesting to play, leaving the OG ones a bit "behind" on that regard. Do you think that the Persian rework is a step towards adding "new flavour" to all those civilizations that have been in the game for a while?

    • @teddyhaines6613
      @teddyhaines6613 8 месяцев назад

Probably not. Persians specifically have suffered for a while from being underpowered outside of a few specific hybrid maps. Civs like Chinese, Britons, Franks, Byzantines, Turks and Mongols are strong on a wide variety of different maps.

I feel like the fortified church, while a very cool and interesting addition, is doing way too much for its cost of 200 wood. It has the same health and range as a TC, I think it'd be fair if it cost 25-50 stone in addition to the wood cost. It would be more thematic as well, seeing as the model has extensive stone fortifications.

its cool that they are pumping out new and interesting civs and making them powerful for people to get them but i am worried about the original civs getting way too power creeped.
also georgians have a lot of defensive bonuses why give them cavalry bonus? wouldnt that power be more fitting in a steppe-culture? some things are not fitting well thematically.

You got that right. The Armenians and Georgians have completely backwards specialties, with the Georgians being good with cavalry and siege and the Armenians being good with infantry. They should be swapped. The Armenians also get a Khevsur warrior as a UU, which is super egregious, and even worse is their naval specialty, which never existed for them, considering they were landlocked for most of their history. This whole DLC is a mess historically, even though it is fun.
