@@SubtraxionStudio am just bitter and jealous because I missed it mate😂grew up on acid and breakbeat, 92, was an amazing year, the dark stuff in 93 was mint, didn’t start raving till 98, I did love the trance hardcore thing that happened 2000, was banging to come up to, but then I’d go to jungle or oldskool arenas, think the Americans ruined a lot with all this edm bullshit and labelling everything.
@kiefir I agree with your saying mate 🙂 all these festival edm djs, making an embarrassment of drum and bass and the rest of the spectrum. I am 48 retired atmospheric jungle drum and bass Dj still do studio sets of deep stuff still being produced but hard to find for them that don't know. Trance was OK until it became pop and stagnant. Happy hard-core had its place, but just got ridiculously silly and betrayed the roots of the rave scene as it turned into cheap euro pop techno sounding clown fair music. The dark core era was short-lived but was the blueprint of jungle and drum and bass and forever greatfull to witness it first hand. Bukem and his good-looking records, hands down, is the best era of drum and bass breakbeat jungle, high quilty production written by real musicians that gave it funk soul atmospheric space furture bliss that is still decade's before its time . I am not a hater I just have a passion and iam seeing what happened to hard-core happening to drum and bass its annoying. Late 90s people like mix mag said drum and bass was dead ect they pushed that narrative so every body got back into house and what happened to house in the early 2000s it was "ibiza" chart pop house! Everybody and their dog played it. The whole point of house in 1987 was a sub culture and 2 fingers up to the mainstream that led to the rave scene but people got greedy and sold out with record company's waving money at some of the artist and most of the artists were new commers that pi##ed alot of pionners off as they created the music for passion not penny's and the new commers sold it out. Prodigy was the same candy pop rave music that sold out for money. The UK has had the best subcultures in the 70s 80s too but the mainstream steals it and the rest is history.
