As someone who grew up in the 1980’s, during the Cold War, the sound and appearance of a Hind always made chills run up my spine, it was always the “bad guy helicopter” in action movies…
“Hey, the baddies need a helicopter in this scene, let’s give ‘em a MI-24 Hind!”
Honestly, seeing a Hind in a NATO country's service almost feels like having a reprogrammed Terminator. Part of the reason Russia's been having some difficulty is because Ukraine also held on to their Mi-24 fleet after independence, in addition to the eastern NATO members.
coolest looking gunship on the planet...
Flying crocodile. "Crocodile" it's army nickname.
Without a doubt.
FACTS.
This and the Apache! :)
💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
In summer 1985 I took part a military exercise. Eight Mi-8 and four Mi-24 took off every morning just besides our camp and made a formation above us then flew away. They were at so low altitude that we could see insignia on the pilots.
Man this thing is brutally ugly and sinister looking!
I just love it!
I have to get one!
I'm fascinated it is so businesses looking and it's business is to kill people. Like, it's not only a weapon, it looks like it's purposely built to bring death on a massive scale.
I want one with a plush interior. And extra rockets.
This one came from Bulgaria. Many ex Soviet republics sell them. Minus the actual weapons systems and the friend / foe identifier systems.
@@chrisbrent7487 Thanks for info.
I will look you up when I am ready.
I won't tell my wife until after the purchase!
I sold my defense company 15 years ago.
I am starting a new one in a couple of years.
@@jimhenry7173 They are beasts. There is a company in South Africa that adds modern avionics and weapon control systems and makes the best version. That's the one I'd go for. They start with a Ukrainian Mi24 and strip it then rebuild it. weaponsystems.net/system/493-ATE+Super+Hind+Mk.+III
Nellis as Col. Neall Ellis ) Legendary gunship ace. SAAF Executive Outcomes etc. Man racked up more sortie hours in Sierra Leone than most pilots do in their entire military career. Flying this badass Soviet Bird .
The most original and unique helicopter in the world! Great respect!✊💪
The sound, Russian helos make,is absolutely adorable. Makes me goosebumps.
imagine being on the receiving end during the 1980s in afghanistan. Seeing that coming at you with its rockets and machine guns
I got goosebump when I see videos of Ukrainians shoot them down
Wat a beast!! I love how the camouflage paint is on point, it really works.
The Mi24 Hind is just badassery on a different level.
What a BEAST!!!
I love it! My favorite helicopter of all time.
This helicopter screams: "I'm about to shank you!!!".
That’s some nice footage @ Nellis spotter keep it up man👍
Red Dawn would be proud
Soviet military: Hey tovarish Mil we need a helicopter that looks more badass than any Western design.
Mil: Say no more.
Apache has entered the chat
@@johncurin5850 apache looks like an unborn fetus compared to this beast.......no comparison
@@johncurin5850 Apache looks like ass compared to the Mi-24 Hind
the US builds helicopters to kick ass not for looks, that's why soviet junk gets destroyed by American hardware
@@PresidentEvil Not true tbh, comparing Mi-24 and Apache is like trying to compare Bradley and a BTR-60. Apache's purpose is to provide support and strike the enemy. Mi-24 was built to transport troops and provide cover for them. It would be better to compare Mi-28 and Apache.
Really good video. Captures the speed of this monster as it flies by. Russian aerospace really knew (knows) a thing or two about designing birds!
The way the Hind's 'wings' bend downward like the flexing arms of someone squaring up for a fight.. reminds me of the design of Klingon battle cruisers.
Excellent film footage and sound.
I've always envisioned myself owning one of these bad boys. Take out the weapons systems and install subwoofers on the underwing hardpoints, and just cruise down the beach or over the freeway blasting my favourite jams and carrying hotties from one party to the next! I'd call it the "Party Wagon"!
I remember this bord from the time serving Bulgarian air force
And I remember how your troops didnt want to shoot at Russian insignia marked targets, in NATO exercise.
jag också
Не будите спящего крокодила
@@bosesebi6685 You can't see insignia on targets, stupid troll.
Interesting《☆》A Russian Hind followed by 2 Blackhawks made by a company founded by a Russian immigrant named Igor Sikorski😎🎱☮🔊✌👍
Good thing he moved to the US and gave way to the alternative engineering school in Russia.
In the real world, it would be the opposite. Hind in the back, Skorsky in front
Those are Hh-60 Pavehawks
Still surreal to see a Hind flying over rows of F-16s! What a cool video.
I hope it keeps flying for years to come.
Damn is that awesome!
The Manatee of aviation... I love it so much.
Amazing video and helicopter.
The sinister look of this choppa alone would freeze opponents in their tracks. ✌🏻🇺🇸
Is this the Mi-24D or the Mi-24V variant?
That profile of that gunship as it banks right, with all of Its arsenals in full, it a frightening sight to see if your an enemy on the ground.
Neil Ellis and his door gunners Fred the Fiijan and Christoff the Frenchman (who was there on holidays) held of a whole rebel army in Sierra Leone with this beast of a machine.
Great video
Очень красивый вертолет
I can't imagine standing up to this beast with just a Stinger. The balls you had to have when you compare your Stinger and that arsenal under the Hind's wings.
You could go rambo against it, and take it down with a bow and arrow
@@syphon_9892 fool
Hey, I recognize that guy in the back seat!
Bruce Stringfellow.

Want a good spot to sit for nellis flights, try CCSN parking lot. We would watch them fly lots of stuff in and out of nellis
The paint scheme makes sense to me. I am thinking it may help with small arms fire ...
Until a barefoot dessert peasant straight out of the 1600's that lives on less than $70 a year walks up with a $500,000 stinger that just mysteriously appeared... I wonder how he figured out to use the guidance system while not understanding the concept of latrines 🤔
Can a civilian buy this ?
Wow!!!, beautiful.
is this the one that Bruce Stringfellow has?
One of my favorite gunship
Greatest achievement of men is a thing of beauty
So good
Guys in the Front Bubble Look Kind of Vulnerable to Incoming Fire,What Caliber Firepower Will the Pilot & Gunner be Protected Up To?
If I remember right the wind screen will protect against 14.5mm and maybe 20mn. The sides are .50 caliber and the bottom is rated 20mm.
@@Fenncer24 So Protected Against Anything BUT Missles.Believe Airwolf Would Still Be GOOD Match for it!! Lol
Massive machine!
Awesome helicopter!
Even missing the front gatling, that thing looks intimidating!
Any actual armed ammo or troops in that helo? Look like winter, cool, no weight take off.
No troops inside civilian owned. If there were troops inside 7 or 8 total the Hind still does a rolling take off and rarely does a vertical take if ever just to heavy for that.
BRAVO!!!!
Mil: "Okay, you need a new general purpose combat heli. Do you want something with a lot of armaments, or maybe have it heavily armored to survive fierce combat? Perhaps raw speed and cargo capabilities for rapid deployment of ground forces?"
USSR: "All of it."
Mil: "...Gotcha covered."
Great 👍
A Hind D? Colonel, what's a russian gunship doing here?
Snake !
I have no idea. But it looks like our little diversion got their attention. Now it's your best chance to slip in unnoticed.
Where do they buy spare parts for that heli?
You can buy spare parts from for East Block countries but must cost a bit and a while to get. I understand this specfic civilian owned Brut is only flown like 5 times a year if that to reduce its wear do to the fact spare parts are hard to come by.
Dude I love the mi-24 helicopter because it played multiple roles like in the Afghan War and the Cold War and the hind was made in 1972
Come to Nellis air force base for the Mi-24 "Blyat" experience
Crocodile is beautiful!
It just seems to fly so smooth, more like a airplane.
When you go fast with it and roll you can turn like an airplane
красавец, как же я его люблю))
Bad ass helicopter :-) I have always loved this beast. The Russians know how to build a helicopter. I think the US Military actually has acquired a few of these and other Russian air craft after the Soviet Union fell.
The US has at least 4 that they admit to having. These were taken after the First Gulf War or handed over by Eygpt, a captured one in Chad. I'm also pretty sure that the Soviets have quit a number of our aircraft and wouldn't put it past them to have come across an F-15 Eagle or F-16 Falcon. We know that they acquired an F-14 Tomcat From Iran in the late 1970s.
@@Fenncer24 The US and Russia probably both have a lot of what the other country has..we might as well be friends!

That ship is one mean death looking gunship.
This Mil mi 24 is ex Bulgarian Air Force
It looks so mean!.
Any idea which nation that belongs to?
Khaled Hossam It’s a civilian owned MI-24 based out of Texas
Bulgarian origin
the germans gave the US 2 hinds a while back. Might be one of those.

The pair of Blackhawks on pursuit chasing the Hind.
I seen this in action
They are monster
Interesting …it’s a Bulgarian 🇧🇬Air Force Mi 24….the star sign on the soviet is all red, not with white and green…..nice video…😉
Eastern European countries holding onto their Hinds was a smart move. I believe the UN Peacekeepers in Africa received a couple of Mi-24s a few years back (though I don't know which country donated them). They were piloted by Ukrainians and saw action in several countries against terrorist rebel factions IIRC.
Mi-24 🇵🇪
2:20 hey wait up!
Lovely. In army we called them "Crocodiles" (✿◠‿◠)
Красавец!
Nice toy
At the end of the video Mi-24 be like: “Hey comrades, I know where to get vodka , follow me”
First Blackhawk: “Hey wait for me, Sputnik!”

Why would you match a utility helicopter against against a gunship.
Try AH1 Cobra or an Apache.
The Croc
Seems as if Stan Lee made another cameo appearance in the bottom cockpit.
If you'd like to watch a walk around of this very aircraft by the pilot, watch this video:

I believe this is the same helicopter that was in this walkaround and tour video as evident by the Bulgarian Roundel... pretty cool to see it flying

Fun fact: It's the fastest attack chopper to this day
Nope, this thing is heavy af, it can carry 8 troops in the back of the pilots.
I knew a survivor of Hind Soviet helicopters in Afghanistan, nearly all his contemporpary hind pilots Died, got that?
the russians are here !! the russians are here!! :D , from some old movie where the f4 phantoms were the migs :D the difference in sound of russian and us helicopters are noticable. our military bought some blackhawks and they sound nothing like the mi8/17 or the hind.
